A chance encounter sparks an unexpected romance between a spirited paleontology student and a celebrated actor. Xu Zhen, a bright and tenacious young woman, is determined to mend the fractured relationship between her parents. To do so, she applies for a job at Jiang Ye Entertainment, where her mother holds a Director position. However, fate throws her into the path of Gu Chi Jun, a renowned actor nursing a bruised ego after being brutally rejected by his ex-girlfriend—again.

To protect his pride and keep his humiliation under wraps, Gu Chi Jun makes it his mission to push Xu Zhen out of the company. But instead of retreating, Xu Zhen’s relentless optimism and charm win him over, landing her the role of his personal assistant. As she delves deeper into her new job, Xu Zhen stumbles upon a sinister conspiracy within the firm, realizing that her newfound position may put her in grave danger. What starts as a tumultuous workplace rivalry soon blossoms into a captivating romance, but with secrets lurking in the shadows, Xu Zhen must navigate the perils of love and ambition.

Side Note: This drama is a hidden gem from an era when collaborations between Chinese productions and South Korean stars were all the rage. Despite the title featuring the year 2023, the series was actually filmed years ago but was shelved indefinitely due to various circumstances. The intriguing part? It has never seen the light of day in China and remains banned there to this day. It’s only now being released because Japan purchased the rights, giving this long-lost production a chance to finally reach audiences.
