Ja Geum Soon, born in 1930 in what is now North Korea, fled to South Korea during the Korean War, tragically separated from her husband and young child. Fueled by a relentless hope to reunite with them, she established the Nakwon hotel chain—a beacon of hope and success. Now, as she nears the end of her life, her final wish is to see the grandson she has never met, Im Moon Sung.

Her devoted assistant, Jung Sang Cheol, devises a daring plan to bring solace to the aging woman. He recruits Yoo Jae Heon, a struggling stage actor who has been playing a North Korean soldier, to impersonate Im Moon Sung. Yoo Jae Heon is told to play the role of a defector visiting Ja Geum Soon before attempting a return to the North. But as he steps into this delicate deception, he quickly realizes he’s tangled in a web far more complex than he anticipated.

Complications arise when he encounters Park Se Yeon, Ja Geum Soon's formidable granddaughter who manages Nakwon with an iron grip and is determined to protect the family's legacy from falling into the wrong hands. As Yoo Jae Heon’s role becomes increasingly perilous, he must navigate a maze of secrets, ambitions, and conflicting loyalties.
