Sugihara Kohei, a college student who has quietly withdrawn from those around him, struggles with the misunderstandings that arise from his hearing loss. His isolation seems unbreakable until one day, his lively classmate Taiichi stumbles upon him—and more importantly, his delicious bento. Intrigued by the food and the quiet boy who made it, Taiichi eagerly accepts Kohei's silent offer of a share but is puzzled when Kohei walks away without a word.
It’s only later that Taiichi learns the reason: Kohei is hard of hearing. Determined to connect, Taiichi proposes a deal—he’ll take notes for Kohei in class if Kohei shares his bento with him every day. Taiichi’s bright, almost foolishly optimistic personality begins to break through Kohei's defenses, especially when he tells him, "It's not your fault that you can't hear!" Those simple words become a turning point for Kohei, offering him a lifeline of acceptance.
As they continue their daily exchange, a unique bond forms between them, one that blurs the lines between friendship and something more. In Taiichi, Kohei finds a connection that starts to transform his world, bringing him out of his shell and into the warmth of a relationship that’s more than friends, but not quite lovers.
