Set in 1944 Harbin, under the puppet Manchukuo regime, this gripping drama follows Song Zhuo Wen, an underground party member posing as a railway police officer. When Guan Xue, the cold-hearted head of the spy department, mistakenly identifies him as her lifesaver, she is actually thinking of Zhuo Wen's long-lost twin brother, Song Zhuo Wu. Seizing the opportunity, Zhuo Wen plans to use Guan Xue to infiltrate the spy department and uncover the mysterious mission of Kwantung Army officer Asano Daigo. But his carefully laid plans are thrown into chaos with the unexpected return of Zhuo Wu, whose impulsive nature often complicates Zhuo Wen's operations.

Guan Xue, ruthless and suspicious, and Zhuo Wu, reckless and unpredictable, become two forces Zhuo Wen must navigate. Only under the orders of their superiors do the estranged brothers unite, protecting each other as they maneuver through the treacherous games of espionage. As they slowly earn the trust of Guan Xue and the Japanese officials, they uncover a dangerous conspiracy involving both the Japanese army and the Soviet Union.

Through a year of relentless struggles, Zhuo Wen and his fellow underground party members face countless dangers, battling spies within their ranks and working to thwart the secret operation. Their perseverance leads to the unraveling of enemy plots and, ultimately, the triumph that welcomes the end of the war.
