“I Thought I Was Just Tired”: Former CLC Member Elkie Hospitalized for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, Urges Fans to Stay Safe
Former CLC member Elkie has opened up about a terrifying health scare that landed her in the hospital — and she’s using the experience to raise awareness about a threat that could affect anyone: carbon monoxide poisoning.
On May 2, the Hong Kong-born singer and actress took to Instagram to share photos of herself in a hospital bed, revealing that she had suffered from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning caused by a gas leak in her home.
“I woke up with a really bad headache,” she wrote. “I was about to take some medicine, but then everything suddenly went black. I bumped into things and collapsed.”
Elkie was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where doctors confirmed she had been exposed to dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide. Her carboxyhemoglobin level was recorded at 20%, far above the normal range of just 1–1.5%.
Now recovering after undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Elkie reassured fans that her condition is stable — but she didn’t stop there. She’s urging everyone to take precautions seriously.
“Carbon monoxide is invisible, silent, and odorless. You don’t see it coming. If I hadn’t gone to the hospital, I don’t even want to think about what might have happened.”
Elkie offered some practical advice:
-
Ventilate areas where you use gas or coal heating.
-
Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home.
-
Seek help immediately if you experience symptoms like headaches, dizziness, or nausea.
“This incident could have ended very badly. I was lucky. Please don’t ignore small signs, and don’t assume you’re just tired.”
Elkie debuted with CLC in 2016 under Cube Entertainment and left both the group and the agency in 2021. Since then, she’s been pursuing solo activities, and fans were shocked to hear about her recent emergency — but flooded her post with support and well wishes.
Let this be a wake-up call: something as simple as a detector could save your life. Stay safe, stay alert — and like Elkie, don’t ignore the signs.
