Ahn Hyo Seop Talks 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' with Park Bo Gum—Behind-the-Scenes, First-Time English Voice Acting, and a Surprise Duet!
Two of Korea’s most beloved stars finally shared the same stage and fans are loving every second of it. On the July 11 episode of The Seasons: Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile, actor Ahn Hyo Seop made a special appearance and opened up about his exciting role in the smash-hit Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Marking their first-ever meeting, Park Bo Gum and Ahn Hyo Seop delivered a musical treat that felt straight out of a K-drama dream. Ahn Hyo Seop serenaded the audience with “Gather My Tears,” “Love in My Arms,” and “Thanks,” while Park Bo Gum played piano with his usual elegance and charm. The onstage chemistry was warm, humble, and filled with mutual admiration.
During the interview segment, Ahn Hyo Seop gave fans an inside look into the voice acting process for K-Pop Demon Hunters, which has taken Netflix by storm. He voiced Jinu, one of the animated film’s main characters, and yes, he did it all in English.
“This was my first time acting in English, and honestly, I was really nervous,” he admitted. “But I had so much fun. I’ve always loved animation, so watching how it all came together was amazing.”
Park Bo Gum, visibly curious and impressed, asked about the technical aspects of recording. Ahn revealed that many of his scenes were performed based on early sketches and rough animations, meaning he had to imagine the scene entirely in his head. “Sometimes I only had the other actor’s voice to go off of,” he said. “It was a lot of improvisation and guesswork, but really rewarding.”
Park Bo Gum was quick to praise Ahn's performance: “It must’ve been so difficult, acting without visuals or a partner. But the final result was awesome. You pulled it off so coolly.”
Since its June 20 debut, K-Pop Demon Hunters has dominated global charts, reaching No. 1 in 22 countries including the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada. It’s a major win for Korean animation on the global stage. Even more impressive? The film’s original soundtrack is heating up the music charts, recently climbing to No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
With a growing international fanbase and accolades to match, Ahn Hyo Seop is clearly leveling up. Fans can’t wait to see where he goes next, especially with Park Bo Gum in his corner.
