Former NCT member Taeil has been officially indicted on charges of sexual assault alongside two accomplices. The shocking revelation has sent waves through the entertainment industry, as it was further disclosed that an arrest warrant had previously been requested but was denied.

According to legal sources, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office indicted Taeil (real name Moon Taeil) and two others under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act on February 28. They are accused of committing special quasi-rape—a charge applied when a sexual crime involves multiple perpetrators or occurs when the victim is incapacitated or unable to resist.

The alleged incident took place in June 2023, after which the victim filed a report with the police. Following an investigation, authorities applied for an arrest warrant, but the court denied the request, citing that the suspects had admitted to the crime and did not need to be detained.

After news of the indictment broke, rumors falsely suggested that a weapon was involved in the crime. However, this was clarified as untrue, and the charge was solely based on the conditions of multiple perpetrators and the victim’s inability to resist.

Unlike his accomplices, who cooperated with the prosecution, Taeil reportedly refused to comply with the summons, citing health reasons. Instead, he submitted a medical certificate and a lawyer’s statement.

Taeil debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT U and later joined NCT 127, solidifying his status as a prominent K-pop vocalist. However, following the lawsuit and investigation, SM Entertainment officially expelled him from the company in October 2023.

This development has shaken the K-pop community, leaving fans divided between shock and disappointment. The news of his indictment is expected to further tarnish his career, with the entertainment industry distancing itself from the former idol.
