Jannabi just lit up SBS PowerFM’s Cultwo Show—and fans are still swooning over the band's heartfelt stories, dreamy new music, and that surprise collaboration with aespa’s Karina.

On May 13, bandmates Choi Jung Hoon and Kim Do Hyung dropped by the studio to dish on their latest album, The Sound of Music Pt.1, and give us a peek into their creative minds. “It’s like piecing together memories,” Choi shared. “The album is built from fragments of who we are.”

One standout from the new record is the ethereal track, “In the May the TENDERNESS be with you!”—made even more magical thanks to a guest appearance by none other than Karina of aespa. “The word ‘truth’ just sounded too heavy in my voice,” Choi explained. “Karina brought this airy, bright tone I was looking for. When I heard her sing it, I knew it was perfect.” Yes, he even wrote her a thank-you note (swoon).

Kim chimed in with a beautiful take on love: “It’s giving someone your best. That’s what our music is for our fans.” Choi added, “Do Hyung is the definition of pure love—my true partner in music and spirit.”

The duo also shared a fun backstage run-in with Psy (twice!), and their unforgettable experience performing for 25,000 fans. “It was a moment we’ll never forget,” they said, grinning from ear to ear.

But perhaps the sweetest moment came when Kim reflected on meeting Choi during a winter break in high school: “We started with a study group and ended up forming a band. I’ve never found someone who matches my musical energy like he does.”

With upcoming concerts on the way and a record full of heart, Jannabi is proving once again why they’re one of Korea’s most beloved indie treasures.
