TWICE’s Dahyun is stepping into a brand-new spotlight! After 11 years as a singer, she is officially making her acting debut in the highly anticipated Korean remake of the Taiwanese classic, ‘You Are the Apple of My Eye.’ 🍎

In a heartfelt interview with Dispatch, Dahyun opened up about her journey into acting, revealing that this has been a dream she’s held onto since childhood. 💭💖

Many fans were surprised by Dahyun’s transition into acting, but she revealed that before she even became a singer, she dreamt of being an actress.
💬 “I was cast as a trainee and nurtured my dream of becoming a singer after that. But before that, I had an even stronger desire for acting. When I was in elementary school, I would watch movies in theaters and dream about acting.”

Though she focused on her music career with TWICE, she never let go of that dream. As soon as the group’s individual activities started, she approached her company about pursuing acting.
💬 “I wanted to act, but I didn’t know where to start. So the company helped me find a project.”

Dahyun’s acting debut is no small step—she landed a leading role in the remake of a beloved romance film. She stars as Seon Ah, a model student whose world crumbles after a devastating mistake on her college entrance exam. Her journey of heartbreak, first love, and growth is at the heart of the film.

🎥 How did Dahyun land the role?
The production team shared, “We were looking for fresh faces—someone new that audiences hadn’t seen before. When we learned that Dahyun was interested in acting and had already worked on an independent film, we decided to meet with her.”

For Dahyun, this was a golden opportunity she couldn’t pass up.
💬 “I was excited to explore how I could bring my own color to Seon Ah’s character. I knew how precious this opportunity was, so I was deeply grateful.”

Despite her excitement, taking on a lead role without prior acting experience was intimidating.
💬 “The excitement of a first experience was huge, but so were my worries. I had many discussions with the director before filming.”

To fully understand her character, Dahyun worked closely with the director to develop Seon Ah’s backstory, adding emotional depth to her role. She imagined what it would feel like if she were in Seon Ah’s shoes, drawing from her own experiences as a performer.
💬 “What if I made a single mistake that ruined a performance? What if I got injured and couldn’t go on stage? It would feel like my world was collapsing. For Seon Ah, her world was academics. Imagining that situation made me break down in tears.”

Dahyun expressed immense gratitude toward her co-star Jinyoung, who supported her throughout filming.
💬 “There were a lot of scenes where I acted with other actors. But for one scene, I had to film a phone call by myself for the first time. The shoot was scheduled for 2 AM, and even though Jinyoung had already finished filming, he stayed to read lines with me. I was balancing filming with concert and album preparations, and I received so much support from everyone.”

Her first acting set was filled with amazing people who made the experience feel like a fun school trip rather than work.
💬 “It felt like hanging out with friends from school—it was such a happy experience.”

Though she faced intense pressure stepping into acting, Dahyun learned to embrace the journey. She recalled one emotional moment where she broke down in tears.
💬 “I didn’t show it, but I was really anxious. The director noticed and just hugged me without saying a word. I don’t know why, but I started crying. I was so desperate because I knew how precious this chance was.”

But despite the challenges, Dahyun is fully embracing her new path.
💬 “The pressure is still there, but I want to enjoy the process. Whether it’s acting or TWICE activities, my biggest goal is to have fun doing what I love.”

What’s Next? More Acting Projects! 🎥

Dahyun isn’t stopping at just one role! She has already been cast in her first drama, ‘Love Me,’ where she plays Ji Hyeon, a character navigating the shift from friendship to love.
She’s also awaiting the release of her independent film ‘Run To You.’

Looking ahead, she remains eager for new challenges:
💬 “I don’t know what kind of projects I’ll take on in the future, but I know I’ll always give my best. There are so many roles I want to try. My goal is to become an actress who can spread positive energy to others!”
