YG Entertainment Says Goodbye to Its Acting Division—A New Era Begins!
It’s the end of an era! YG Entertainment has officially announced the closure of its acting management branch, marking a strategic shift back to its musical roots. The entertainment powerhouse, home to some of K-drama’s biggest stars, will be parting ways with its entire roster of actors and actresses, including A-listers like Kim Hee Ae, Cha Seung Won, Yoo In Na, Lee Sung Kyung, Jang Ki Yong, and many more.
In an official statement released on January 17, YG expressed heartfelt gratitude to the actors and their fans for their years of dedication and support. The agency reassured fans that they will continue to provide full support to their actors until their contracts expire, though no renewals will be made.
This move comes as YG gears up to double down on its music empire, with major plans in the works, including BLACKPINK’s much-anticipated comeback and world tour in 2025, and expanded promotions for rookie group BABYMONSTER and possibly 2NE1.
Fans have mixed feelings about the transition, as YG has played a crucial role in shaping the careers of many beloved stars. However, excitement is also building around what the future holds for both the actors and YG’s evolving focus on music.
