In the opulent city of Yangzhou, nestled in Tang Dynasty China’s Jiangsu Province, a grand collision of fate is set to unfold. On the same day, two powerful families, the Du and Li clans, are orchestrating high-stakes weddings for their daughters. The Du family has arranged for their daughter, Du Bing Yan, to marry Qi Tian Lei, the frail third son of the Qi family. The Qi clan believes that the beauty and virtue of Du Bing Yan might cure Qi Tian Lei's lingering illness, though rumors whisper that his health is perilously close to failure. Despite her reservations, Du Bing Yan submits to her parents' wishes.

Across the city, the Li family has betrothed their daughter, Li Yu Hu, to Yuan Bu Qu, a renowned general known for his fierce demeanor and rough nature. Li Yu Hu is equally distressed by her fate but, like Du Bing Yan, she honors her family's decision.

As the wedding day dawns, both brides are transported in ornate sedans. However, a sudden downpour forces them to seek refuge in a secluded temple. There, a monk's ominous warning about an impending bandit attack sends their entourages into a frenzied panic. Amid the chaos, the two women are mistakenly swapped between sedans, and end up journeying towards each other’s intended marriages.

As Du Bing Yan and Li Yu Hu navigate their unexpected new suitors—one destined to be ailing and the other fierce—an intricate web of confusion and romance begins to unravel. Will destiny’s missteps lead to unexpected love or plunge these four lives into even greater turmoil?
