Disappearances, Deception, and the Kiss That Changed Everything

Episode 11 of Head Over Heels wastes no time digging into the emotional fallout from General Dongcheon’s devastating sacrifice. Her death hits hard, especially for Bong-su, who realizes that her passing marked his 100th soul, the final step in his transformation into an evil deity. But even knowing this, he admits he couldn’t stop himself. He wanted to live.

Yeom-hwa, consumed with guilt and fury, lashes out and attempts to end her own life chasing after Bong-su, but Seong-ah intervenes. She reminds Yeom-hwa of the woman who died to protect her. With help, they restrain Yeom-hwa before she can do more harm.

Then things get strange.

We shift to a seemingly sweet date between Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo, until it becomes clear something’s off. “Gyeon-woo” insists he no longer senses Bong-su, and Seong-ah plays along. She kisses him… then throws salt on him, silently crying as she walks away. Gyeon-woo wakes up, alone and confused. She’s gone.

Yeom-hwa confirms the worst: Bong-su has fully ascended. With the 100th soul claimed, he’s now an evil deity. And Seong-ah? She’s disappeared without a trace.

Months pass. Gyeon-woo dives headfirst into archery, racking up medals but slowly burning out. Still, no word from Seong-ah.

Then a long-lost chapter of his past reopens. Gyeon-woo visits the girl from his old school, the one who started the fire, the one who haunted his conscience. She’s recovered and ready to move on. Their goodbye brings a strange sense of closure.

Graduation comes and goes. Seong-ah doesn’t return. Ji-ho and Gyeon-woo celebrate anyway, though her absence hangs heavy in the air.

Still searching for answers, Gyeon-woo visits Seong-ah’s house. There, he meets Yeom-hwa, who delivers a cryptic clue: Seong-ah isn’t dead. If she were, they’d have seen her in a dream wearing white, as per the binding spell. She hands him a method to track her down.

Fueled by hope, Gyeon-woo gets help from Seong-ah’s family friend, the amulet maker, and starts catching faceless ghosts, turning one into his servant to help search for her. But he doesn’t know he’s being manipulated. Yeom-hwa plans to kill Seong-ah, convinced it’s the only way to eliminate the evil deity inside her.

Eventually, one of the ghosts leads him to her. In a clearing on a mountain, Seong-ah is found comforting 100 wandering spirits. Gyeon-woo arrives just in time to protect her from Yeom-hwa, and together they flee.

Time skips forward again.

Gyeon-woo is now a top-tier archer. Ji-ho lives with him in his grandmother’s house. But neither of them have moved on, Seong-ah still lingers in their thoughts. News of Seong-ah’s spirit aunt’s death reaches them, along with the return of the protective human amulet she had made for Gyeon-woo.

Later, Gyeon-woo visits Yeom-hwa and admits something he’s kept hidden: he keeps dreaming about a former classmate, but nothing in the dream feels like his own. It feels like her dream. Like it belongs to Seong-ah. But he can’t find her in it.

Cut to the truth, Seong-ah is dreaming, and Gyeon-woo is inside it. He’s unintentionally crossed into her subconscious. Seong-ah, however, hides in fear. She doesn’t want to be found, especially not while Bong-su still shares her body.

Then it clicks.

Gyeon-woo recalls a drawing from Seong-ah’s dream that matches the home of the amulet maker. He rushes over and walks straight into a reunion. Or so he thinks.

He meets “Seong-ah,” who kisses him.

But it’s not her.

It’s Bong-su.

The episode ends right there, with the most deceptive kiss yet, and the terrifying realization that Gyeon-woo might be one step too late.

Goodbyes, Ghost Names, and One Final Kiss

The finale of Head Over Heels starts exactly where it should... with a twist. Gyeon-woo finds himself face-to-face with Bong-su in Seong-ah’s body, and yep, this bittersweet reunion was all thanks to Yeom-hwa casting one last spell to force their paths to cross.

Gyeon-woo brings "Seong-ah" home, and when Ji-ho sees her, it’s a shock. But soon, one by one, their friends show up, each tearfully welcoming her back. The warmth, the nostalgia, it’s enough to make even Bong-su feel out of place in the body he’s occupying. He watches Seong-ah’s friends mourn the girl who’s still inside him and realizes... she’s the one who belongs here. But Bong-su can’t leave, not yet. He still doesn’t know his real name.

Later, at the Hour of the Ox, Gyeon-woo tries to summon Seong-ah like before. But Bong-su plays a prank and pretends to be her. Gyeon-woo is livid. He lashes out, exhausted and heartbroken, only to return with an apology. That’s when Bong-su drops a bomb, Seong-ah’s spirit vessel is cracking. If he doesn’t leave soon, she could die. But Seong-ah isn’t ready to let him go.

Desperate, Gyeon-woo takes matters into his own hands. He enters Seong-ah’s dream and, pretending to be Bong-su, gently coaxes her out of hiding. Just like she once reclaimed his body, he kisses her to bring her back.

And finally... finally... Seong-ah returns. The real one.

The group reunites, joy pouring into every frame. Ji-ho, as selfless as ever, quietly leaves Gyeon-woo’s house, knowing they belong together.

But the night isn’t over.

While Seong-ah rests, we learn Gyeon-woo has made a terrible deal. He and Yeom-hwa are already preparing the final exorcism, at the very house where Bong-su first became an evil spirit. Gyeon-woo has agreed to die to save Seong-ah. Yeom-hwa, too, must die to complete the ritual and destroy the deity.

But they’re not alone. The amulet maker and the rest of Seong-ah’s spiritual circle discover the plan and rush to intervene, desperate to save both Gyeon-woo and Yeom-hwa with an alternate ritual.

Meanwhile, inside her dream world, Seong-ah remembers who she is. She’s a shaman. She remembers her mother. Her purpose. She wakes in a panic, reads Yeom-hwa’s farewell letter, and makes one last call to her patron deities. And they answer, along with the spirit of her mother.

With newfound strength, she bursts through the doors of the haunted house, pulls Yeom-hwa from the ritual, and stays behind... to face Bong-su.

Inside Bong-su’s dreamscape, Gyeon-woo makes a revelation: the older man he and Seong-ah thought was Bong-su? Just a projection. The truth is darker, the little boy whose burial site they’d once found was Bong-su all along. That’s when they uncover his real name, hidden deep in the corners of his lost soul.

Armed with the truth, Seong-ah performs one last ritual. It’s emotional. It’s gentle. And it’s final.

She says goodbye, and Bong-su crosses over, peacefully, finally freed.

Gyeon-woo wakes up in his own body.

Years pass.

Gyeon-woo becomes an Olympic-level archer. Seong-ah continues her shaman work, helping spirits find peace. Gyeon-woo no longer sees ghosts, but that’s okay. They’ve built a quiet life together, filled with purpose and love.

And just like that, Head Over Heels ends... not with a dramatic twist, but with peace, healing, and a love that’s been through death, dreams, and the divine.

DramaZen's Opinion

Opinion of Head Over Heels (2025)

Episodes 11 and 12 were everything I hoped for and more! Watching Gyeon-woo realize Bong-su was still in Seong-ah’s body? Wild. And then the prank during the ghost hour? I wanted to scream and laugh at the same time. But the emotional core of these episodes really hit hard, especially the moment Gyeon-woo kisses Seong-ah in her dream to bring her back. Full circle and totally swoon-worthy.

The finale was pure magic. Seong-ah reclaiming her power, calling her deities, and helping Bong-su cross over? So satisfying. And don’t even get me started on that final flash-forward. Gyeon-woo at the Olympics, Seong-ah guiding spirits, and both of them finally living in peace?

It was the perfect send-off for a drama that gave us love, ghosts, and everything in between. Still not over it!
