Chapter 32 - His Last Gift

Aria stood in front of a crowd of press, clients, and partners, all gathered in Vale Interiors’ flagship showroom. The space was newly renovated—sleek lines, raw textures, and just enough restraint to keep the tension elegant.

She didn’t wait for applause.

She spoke.

“Vale Interiors began as a rebellion. A statement against the way power treats creativity. Today, it becomes something else:

A platform.

We’re launching the Vale Collective—an incubator for women-led design firms, funded independently through a trust I’m opening in my brother’s name.

No strings. No equity grabs. Just space. Mentorship. Capital. Belief.”

The applause that followed wasn’t polite.

It was real.

And Aria knew, as she stepped off the stage, that she hadn’t just reclaimed her name—she’d redefined it.

Back in her office, her assistant handed her a box.

“No label,” she said. “No sender. Just your name.”

Aria stared at it.

The handwriting was his.

She opened it carefully.

Inside: a single key. No note.

Just coordinates written on the inside of the box lid.

She hesitated.

Then typed them into her phone.

They led to a building outside the city. An old design studio she hadn’t visited in years—one she’d mentioned once, in passing, to Dominic back when they were still learning each other’s dreams.

The studio had been foreclosed. She thought it was long gone.

But when she arrived that evening, the doors were open. The place was fully restored. And a note sat on the worktable, scrawled in his familiar script:

This was supposed to be yours from the beginning.
No more secrets.
Build everything you want.
I’ll be cheering quietly—from wherever you let me stand.
– D

Aria sat down at the table.

The silence was warm. Welcoming.

She ran her hands across the wood. Felt the possibility.

She didn’t cry.

She didn’t call.

But she smiled.

Not everything needed to be broken to start over.

Some things just needed to be rebuilt differently.
