My Girlfriend Is the Man- Episodes 7-8
True feelings, messy triangles, and one serious cliffhanger, it’s getting wild.
Episodes 7 and 8 take My Girlfriend Is the Man from quirky romance to full-blown emotional battlefield. The love triangle is officially out of control, secrets are boiling over, and the body swap chaos is starting to look permanent. Let’s break it down.
Episode 7 — “This Isn't Just Hormones, Right?”
We open with Jieun stuck in her male body again, but this time, it’s been days, not hours. She’s starting to freak out, and honestly, so are we. She’s afraid that the switch back might not come this time. Meanwhile, Yunjae is doing his best to stay supportive, but the strain is showing. Every time he looks at “Jihun,” he hesitates just a little too long.
To make things worse (and funnier), Yuri’s decided to take charge. Her new strategy? Turn Jieun into a full-fledged male heartthrob so she can keep Yunjae close until a switch happens. Think: outfit changes, cologne, charm lessons. It’s chaos. It’s cringey. It’s hilarious.
Minhyeok, on the other hand, is not backing off. After seeing Jieun and Yunjae argue, he takes his chance and makes a direct move. Confession included. And no, he doesn’t care if “Jihun” is taken. He just wants a shot. The look on Yunjae’s face? Priceless.
But the real kicker of Episode 7? Jieun gets called in for a second interview at Book Basket Publications. She goes, in her male form and actually nails it. But then, one of the interviewers recognizes her from her original form. The moment is tense, but she plays it off as being her “twin brother.” Barely.
The episode ends with Yunjae asking Jieun the question we’ve all been thinking: If you stay like this forever... are we still a couple? Jieun doesn’t answer. Not because she doesn’t know, but because the answer might hurt too much.
Episode 8 — “We Need to Choose Each Other”
The emotional stakes explode in Episode 8.
Jieun finally transforms back, after a full week and the relief is intense. Yunjae sees her, holds her, and just cracks. All the feelings he’s been bottling up come rushing out. The two finally have an honest, messy, tear-filled conversation about what they’re actually dealing with. It’s raw, and it’s overdue.
Just when it seems like they’re finding solid ground again, bam... Yuna finds out the truth. The whole truth. She overhears a conversation between Jieun and Jihye, and she’s furious. She feels betrayed, confused, and worst of all, embarrassed that she ever had a crush on her own brother’s girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Minhyeok’s had enough of being on the sidelines. He tells Jieun he knows something’s off and that whatever secret she’s hiding, he’s not afraid of it. He doesn’t care if she’s a guy, a girl, or something in between. He just wants her to choose him, for real.
Yunjae catches wind of this and completely loses it. For the first time in the series, we see him actually fight, not physically, but emotionally. He’s done playing it safe. He tells Jieun that he’s all in, no matter what body she’s in. What matters is her.
Jieun doesn’t say anything back. Instead, she just looks between the two guys, Yunjae and Minhyeok and walks away.
We end Episode 8 on a rooftop again (because where else do K-dramas solve emotional breakdowns?), with Jieun looking up at the sky, alone, and saying:
“I don’t know who I’m supposed to be. But I know who I don’t want to lose.”
DramaZen's Opinion
The drama is peaking and I am emotionally unwell (in a good way).
Episodes 7 and 8 had me clenching my fists, yelling at the screen, and silently sobbing, all within 45 minutes. Jieun being stuck in her male form for a whole week? Brutal. The tension between her and Yunjae? Off the charts. And Minhyeok? He’s not even pretending to play fair anymore.
That rooftop ending? I needed a minute.
These episodes finally gave us the emotional release we’ve been waiting for. Yunjae cracked, Jieun wavered, and now it’s clear: this love triangle isn’t just fluff, it hurts. Everyone’s caught between who they are and who they want to be with, and it’s so messy and so good.
Also, shoutout to Yuri for continuing to carry the show’s chaotic energy like it’s her job.
I don’t know who Jieun’s going to choose, but I know one thing, I’m not missing Episode 9 for anything.
