K-Pop Fans Among Victims of Tragic Plane Crash After '2024 AAA' in Bangkok
Heartbreaking reports have emerged that several K-pop fans returning from the '2024 Asia Artist Awards (AAA)' in Bangkok were among the victims of a devastating plane crash.
On December 29, Jeju Air flight 7C2216, en route from Bangkok to Muan International Airport, tragically crashed during landing, with the National Fire Agency confirming a suspected landing gear failure as the potential cause. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft carried 181 individuals, including 175 passengers and six crew members.
Social media platforms and online forums were soon flooded with posts from concerned fans and friends trying to contact loved ones who had attended the AAA ceremony on December 27 and were expected to return on the ill-fated flight. Among the passengers were 173 South Korean nationals and two Thai citizens. Reports indicate that professional baseball officials, including those affiliated with the KIA Tigers, were also on the flight.
Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of 167 individuals, including a 3-year-old child born in 2021, with only two survivors—both crew members—rescued by 11:10 AM KST. The flight was part of a Christmas-themed package tour, with many onboard being family groups or individuals in their 50s and 60s.
The news has sent shockwaves through the global K-pop and entertainment community, as fans grieve for the victims and extend support to their families.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this devastating tragedy. May the victims rest in peace, and their loved ones find strength during this difficult time. 🖤
