Get ready, cell lovers — Yumi’s Cells might just be making a heart-fluttering comeback!

On March 31, Studio Dragon and TVING dropped a major update that has fans squealing with excitement: they're officially preparing for Season 3 of the beloved K-drama Yumi’s Cells! And yes, Kim Go Eun — the actress who brought our relatable heroine Yumi to life — is reportedly in talks to reprise her iconic role!

According to her agency BH Entertainment, “The new season of Yumi’s Cells is one of the projects offered to Kim Go Eun. She is currently reviewing it.” While no final broadcast date or additional casting details have been confirmed yet, just the possibility of seeing those adorable brain cells again has fans hitting replay on Seasons 1 and 2.

The third season is expected to pick up where the webtoon left off — focusing on Yumi’s romantic journey with Sun Rok, the final love interest in her story. If the live-action sticks closely to the source material, fans can expect a whole new level of swoon-worthy moments, heartbreak, and of course, cell-powered hilarity.

First airing in 2021 and followed by a second season in 2022, Yumi’s Cells earned massive praise for its unique blend of live-action and animation, turning the ordinary moments of Yumi’s life into a vivid emotional rollercoaster — all narrated by her brain’s charming little cell squad.

The original creative dream team — director Lee Sang Yeob and writers Song Jae Jung, Kim Yoon Joo, and Kim Kyung Ran — delivered a fresh, heartfelt rom-com that resonated deeply with viewers around the world.

If confirmed, this will mark Kim Go Eun’s third drama project currently in the pipeline, alongside the Netflix originals You and Everything Else and The Price of Confession. And yes — it also signals her long-awaited return to the romantic comedy genre after a three-year break!

On the film side, Kim Go Eun has been on fire. She crushed the box office with the 2024 occult blockbuster Exhuma, starring alongside heavyweights like Choi Min Shik, Yoo Hae Jin, and Lee Do Hyun. She also captivated in the indie gem Love in the Big City and made a sweet cameo in Dog Days.

Needless to say, the actress is booked and busy — and we’re thrilled at the idea of her slipping back into Yumi’s shoes (and possibly her cozy turtlenecks) one more time.

Are you ready to reunite with Yumi and her lovable cell crew? Stay tuned for updates — and maybe start preparing your heart for Sun Rok! 💛
