After a hilariously spicy and charming first episode, I couldn’t wait to dive into the next one! But, knowing this is only a two-episode mini-drama has me feeling bittersweet already. 😢

We pick up right where we left off, with Yeon-Seo and Ha-Jun being hilariously caught by the ever-stern Secretary Kim—who doesn’t look too thrilled about finding them in bed together! Ha-Jun, ever the quick thinker, brushes him off and whisks Yeon-Seo to the hospital, still worried about her health. Despite Ja-Yeon (trapped inside Yeon-Seo’s body) trying to explain that she’s living out the plot of her novel, Ha-Jun tricks her into getting checked out. The tests come back fine, but he’s convinced she’s suffering from amnesia.

Things take a bizarre turn when Ja-Yeon, aiming to get home by taxi, ends up at her workplace instead, thanks to the driver’s cryptic comment about “finishing the last scene.” Suddenly, she’s back at the company, serving pork cutlets in the cafeteria, a task she wrote into the novel. Ha-Jun’s eyes light up when he sees the dish—it’s their secret code for sneaking off for some spicy time! But Ja-Yeon, realizing this, puts an "X" in ketchup on Ha-Jun’s cutlet and a heart on Secretary Kim’s. The jealous Ha-Jun hilariously claims the "X" is a signal for a kiss, sending Secretary Kim into a jealous frenzy.

When Secretary Kim confronts Yeon-Seo outside, accusing her of trying to win him back, she’s too distracted by the fact that her fictional crush is now standing before her. The situation escalates when Ha-Jun punches Secretary Kim, sparking an argument. Things get even more heated as Ha-Jun pulls Yeon-Seo away, leaving the furious Secretary behind.

After a tense exchange in the elevator, Yeon-Seo asks Ha-Jun to take her somewhere. They end up at the beach, where Ja-Yeon once again tries to explain that she’s trapped in her own novel and isn’t really Yeon-Seo. She reveals the dramatic final scene she wrote, where she becomes trapped in a freezer, and Ha-Jun is the only one who can save her. Suddenly, just as she predicted, she vanishes!

Panicked, Ha-Jun pieces together everything and rushes to the freezer to find a freezing, helpless Yeon-Seo. As he saves her, a shadowy Secretary Kim watches from a distance, clearly not happy that Yeon-Seo survived. Back at Ha-Jun’s house, Ja-Yeon is overjoyed that he believes her, but his mood shifts. Angry and disillusioned, he tells her that his whole world feels like a lie.

The next morning, Ja-Yeon tries to cheer him up by taking him to a restaurant that serves his favorite childhood sausage dish. A flirty moment unfolds as she searches for soy sauce, only for Ha-Jun to teasingly suck the sauce off her finger, sparking undeniable chemistry between them.

After a whirlwind day of traveling around the world—dining in Japan, sampling pastries in France, and enjoying massages in Thailand—the two share a sweet moment under cherry blossoms. But just as things seem perfect, Ja-Yeon’s joy turns to sorrow when she sees her father talking to her younger self, a heartbreaking reminder of the family she’s always longed for. Ha-Jun comforts her, but before they can process the moment, they’re transported back to his house, leading to a passionate night neither can fully remember.

Determined to figure out why she hasn’t returned to her world, Ja-Yeon tries everything, including more passionate encounters, but the memory loss persists. Finally, she remembers a crucial detail from her editor—it has to remain a 15+ novel, which explains the fuzzy memories!

Just when things seem to calm down, Ha-Jun reveals that it was Secretary Kim who locked her in the freezer, and he’s since fired him. But as Ha-Jun prepares for work, Ja-Yeon spots a sinister Secretary Kim watching from across the street. Tension builds as Ha-Jun hears the eerie sound of typing, realizing this is the moment where Secretary Kim is supposed to run over Ja-Yeon. In a dramatic twist, Ha-Jun switches places with her, taking the hit instead.

Bleeding out and barely surviving surgery, Ha-Jun's fate hangs in the balance. A guilt-ridden Ja-Yeon sits by his bedside, blaming herself. Later, on the hospital rooftop, they share a heartfelt conversation where Ha-Jun admits that she’s the reason he exists, leading to a sweet and emotional kiss.

Suddenly, Ja-Yeon wakes up in the real world—saved by Gyu-Hyun. They share a happy, relieved moment, but if you stick around after the credits, you’ll catch a special behind-the-scenes clip of Gyu-Hyun serenading the audience!

Opinion of Spice up Our Love (2024)

It's sad this was so short and I thought the special end credits would give us a glimpse of their relationship back in the real world where we left off in No Gain, No Love. However, there was no such thing!🥺

The leads had really nice chemistry and it was an easy binge watch.

This spin-off has easily been the best one yet! It felt like a mini-movie packed with every emotion you could imagine, from laugh-out-loud comedy to moments that tugged at the heartstrings.

The real Ha-Jun’s entrance was a fantastic twist, and let’s be honest—the chemistry between the FL and both male leads was on fire! 🔥

While I definitely wish it had been longer, every second was so enjoyable. ❣️ Sure, an 18+ version would’ve added a whole other level of excitement, but even at 15+, it was more than enough to keep me hooked!
