In Your Radiant Season- Episodes 5-6
Secrets, Soft Moments, and a Goodbye That Comes Too Soon
Episode 5 of In Your Radiant Season opens right where things left off, with Ha-ran asking Chan what he meant when he said he shouldn’t have feelings for her. Chan gently brushes it off, saying he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable, and the moment quietly passes. On their way to the villa in Gyeongju, they stop at a scenic bridge, soaking in the view. It’s here that Ha-ran shares something deeply personal, she lost her parents on the day of the first snowfall, which is why that time of year feels especially heavy for her. When she asks about Chan’s mother, though, he quickly changes the subject.
Once they arrive, Chan introduces Ha-ran to his animation team, and soon both teams are working together. Their trip includes a visit to the charming village of Yangdong, where Ha-ran finds herself growing more curious about Chan’s past. A flashback reveals that after leaving South Korea, Chan spent time in Florence, where he finally chose to follow his passion for art.

Back in the present, their easygoing dynamic continues to shine. During a meal, Chan casually takes eggplant off Ha-ran’s plate, jokingly calling them “neon aliens.” It’s a small, playful moment, but it almost gives him away, since Ha-ran never told him she uses that exact nickname. She brushes it off as her own memory slip, but it’s definitely a close call for Chan. Later, when Ha-ran spots a plane’s vapor trail in the sky, she recalls the day she flew to the US, triggering fragments of Chan’s buried memories once again.
Meanwhile in Seoul, things are quietly unraveling on another front. Na-na hides the fact that she recently fell, while Ha-dam misinterprets You-gyum’s actions, believing he bought couple rings for someone else. In reality, he purchased a necklace with an emergency contact for Na-na, hinting at a secret he’s trying to protect.
Back in Gyeongju, a sudden rainstorm leaves Chan and Ha-ran stranded in the woods, taking shelter together. In that quiet space, Ha-ran admits she’s curious about his past, but Chan gently tells her he wants to keep that part of himself hidden, for now.
That night, the team gathers for a beach barbecue, and Ha-ran lets her guard down just a little, even having a few drinks. Feeling the weight of everything unsaid, Chan considers telling her the truth. Instead, they turn it into a playful game, if she wins, he’ll confess everything. She does win… but promptly passes out before he can say a word, leaving the truth hanging in the air.
Later that night, another piece of Chan’s memory finally clicks into place. The mysterious sound he’s been chasing wasn’t random, it was the jingle of a bracelet. A painful flashback reveals the truth: Kang Hyeok-chan had been cheating on Ha-ran with a woman named Su-jin. Realizing how much more heartbreak Ha-ran has yet to uncover, Chan is left shaken.

The next morning, Chan takes Ha-ran out for a quiet walk. She remembers their game, but tells him he doesn’t have to share anything he’s not ready to. In return, Chan speaks in softer terms, describing someone who once helped him heal and broaden his world. He admits he’s choosing not to reopen old wounds, wanting to protect that person’s happiness.
As their time in Gyeongju comes to an end, Chan shows Ha-ran an iridescent cloud, explaining that it represents hope and the future, unlike vapor trails, which only remind us of what’s already passed. As a small “assignment,” he gives her a film camera and asks her to capture one beautiful moment each day until they meet again.
Back in Seoul, we begin to see small but meaningful changes in Ha-ran. She brings coffee for her coworkers, chats more openly, and slowly reconnects with the world around her. Even her creativity starts to return. Inspired by the iridescent cloud Chan showed her, she designs a stunning new outfit featuring soft, shimmering tones, earning Na-na’s approval.
Meanwhile, the side stories continue to build quietly. Ha-young starts noticing Tae-suk’s subtle kindness, while Ha-dam reassures herself about You-gyum, though lingering doubts remain as another girl continues to call him.
Through it all, Chan and Ha-ran stay connected through messages. She begins taking photos of little things that make her smile, even telling Mr. Park that she feels like she’s rediscovering a part of herself she thought she had lost.
But just as things start to feel steady, everything shifts again.

On the day of their long-awaited pizza date, Chan decides to drive back to Seoul himself. Along the way, a truck suddenly swerves dangerously close to his car. Back in Seoul, Ha-ran is called into a meeting where Na-na drops a life-changing announcement, she wants Ha-ran to take over the business as she prepares to retire and move to France.
When Ha-ran finally checks her phone, she sees missed calls from Chan. Panic sets in. She rushes to the café, only to learn from Mr. Park that Chan had to leave for the US unexpectedly.
The disappointment hits hard.
Later, when Ha-ran develops her film, she discovers something she never expected, photos Chan secretly took of her during their trip. In every shot, she’s smiling, laughing, alive in a way she hasn’t been for years. The final photo? Chan himself, smiling gently at the camera.
A quiet goodbye, hidden in plain sight.
A Long-Awaited Return and a Love That Refuses to Fade
Episode 6 of In Your Radiant Season begins with Chan on his way back to Seoul, excited and full of anticipation to see Ha-ran again. But just as things seem to be falling into place, everything changes. Ben calls with urgent news, they have to return to the United States immediately. Chan rushes to the airport, desperately trying to reach Ha-ran, but she’s stuck in a meeting with Na-na and misses his calls. By the time she learns what happened through Mr. Park, Chan is already gone.
To make matters worse, Ha-ran soon finds out that there have been major changes in Chan’s company, and all ongoing projects, including theirs, have been put on hold.

Back at Nana Atelier, everyone feels Chan’s absence, but it’s especially noticeable for Ha-ran. She quietly waits for a message or a call that never seems to come. Work continues, though, as the team begins a new project inspired by reinterpretations of the atelier’s 1970s designs. Ha-young suggests incorporating sustainable materials, but Tae-suk pushes back, insisting their clientele expects high-end fabrics.
Meanwhile, life goes on in small, bittersweet ways. Ha-ran finds herself missing Chan during quiet moments at the café with Mr. Park, where they’re joined by Genius and a young boy named Dong-gu, someone Chan used to spend time with. Even these simple scenes feel a little emptier without him.
Elsewhere, tensions rise for Ha-dam when she confronts You-gyum. After finding his belongings in Na-na’s study and noticing another girl calling him, she demands answers. You-gyum admits to meeting Na-na to make a good impression and insists his interaction with the other girl was only to push her away. Still, the trust between them takes a hit, leaving both frustrated.

Back at the atelier, Ha-ran hears from Tae-suk that the project with Chan’s team might be canceled entirely. With Chan’s phone no longer reachable, the uncertainty grows heavier. At home, all three Song sisters, each dealing with their own frustrations, end up clashing. But in true sisterly fashion, they eventually find comfort together during a late-night trip to the seaside, sharing their worries under the open sky.
Ha-young tries to reassure Ha-ran that Chan will reach out, but Ha-ran seems to be bracing herself to move on. The next day, she throws herself into work with a colder, more detached attitude, even telling Mr. Park that Chan likely won’t be coming back.
But the emotions she’s trying to suppress are still very much there.
One day, Ha-ran takes time off, worrying those around her. At the same time, Na-na quietly heads to the hospital for a check-up. When a mistake is discovered in one of the atelier’s garments, caused by Na-na’s oversight, she rushes to fix it herself. Despite her usual composure, the moment catches up to her, and she breaks down in private, revealing just how much she’s been carrying.
Later that night, Ha-ran returns home and admits to Na-na that she spent the day visiting all the places on Chan’s Seoul bucket list. Even so, it didn’t help her move on. Still, she doesn’t regret meeting him and Na-na gently tells her that’s what truly matters. Sometimes, letting go doesn’t mean forgetting.
The next day brings a surprising turn. While attending an art exhibition, Ha-ran suddenly remembers that she was supposed to meet Chan at a one-table restaurant. Encouraged by Rae-mee, she decides to go anyway. Just as she’s about to walk in, a familiar voice stops her in her tracks.
It’s Chan.

The moment is everything you’d hope for, Ha-ran runs to him and wraps him in a heartfelt hug. Over dinner, Chan explains that he did try to contact her before leaving, but a network issue prevented the message from going through. He and his team then worked nonstop to save their project and they succeeded.
Relief finally sets in.
Exhausted from everything she’s been holding in, Ha-ran falls asleep at the table while Chan chats with Mr. Park. It’s a small but telling moment, showing just how much she’s been affected by his absence.
Elsewhere, Ha-young begins to notice Tae-suk’s quiet acts of care. When she confronts him about going out of his way for her, he gently points out that she doesn’t have to keep pretending she’s okay. A flashback reveals just how long she’s been doing exactly that, tracing back to the moment she forced herself to stay strong during their parents’ funeral.
Later, Chan and Ha-ran step out together again, but their evening takes another unexpected turn when Chan realizes he left his suitcase at the airport. He rushes back to retrieve it and calls Ha-ran to let her know, but pauses when he sees her standing there in person.
She came to him.

In that moment, Ha-ran finally says what’s been on her heart. She admits she had too many regrets when he left and doesn’t want to feel that way again. Turning the tables, she asks him the same question he once asked her, if she can be kind to him now, if she can let herself get closer.
Chan doesn’t hesitate.
Overcome with emotion, he pulls her into a warm, heartfelt hug, closing the distance that once felt so impossible to bridge.
DramaZen's Opinion

I feel like episodes 5 and 6 of In Your Radiant Season really snuck up on me emotionally in the best way. What started as a soft, slow burn is now turning into something that actually hits a little deeper than I expected.
Episode 5 had this really dreamy, almost peaceful vibe with the Gyeongju trip, but underneath it all there was so much tension building. The little moments between Chan and Ha-ran felt so natural and warm, especially the way they kept getting closer without fully crossing that line. And that memory reveal about Hyeok-chan? That completely shifted things and made me nervous about what Ha-ran still doesn’t know.
Then episode 6 came in and just tugged at every emotion. The sudden separation, Ha-ran waiting for a message that never came, and her trying to convince herself to move on… it all felt so real. I actually loved that she tried to let go instead of just waiting around, but you could tell her heart wasn’t in it.
And that reunion? I’m not even going to lie, that moment got me. The way she ran to him and then showed up at the airport later, basically saying she doesn’t want regrets anymore… it felt like such a big step for her. It wasn’t dramatic in a loud way, but it was powerful in a quiet, emotional way.
Overall, these two episodes felt like a turning point. The story is still soft and healing, but now there’s more urgency and emotion behind everything. I’m definitely more invested than ever.
