Our Universe- Episodes 7-8
When the Past Knocks and Hearts Are Put to the Test
Episode 7 of Our Universe opens with a moment that genuinely made my heart jump. Hyun-jin walks into her apartment, only to find someone inside, and her scream says everything. For a second, it feels like all the tension from the previous episode is about to explode. Yoon-seong rushes up to help her, and together they come face to face with an unexpected figure… an older man who quietly introduces himself as Woo-jin’s father.
The shock doesn’t end there. Tae-hyung comes running after hearing Hyun-jin’s voice over the phone, only to be confronted with a man from his past. But instead of recognition or warmth, there’s distance. Coldness. His father breaks down, apologizing for being too late after more than twenty years, but Tae-hyung doesn’t soften. He simply asks him to leave, and that moment feels so heavy with everything left unsaid.

As things settle, we see Hyun-jin quietly holding everything together again. She picks Woo-joo up, tends to the home, and even lets Tae-hyung care for her small injury. These little moments remind me how much she carries without making a fuss.
At work, things finally seem to go her way when the GloMarket project is chosen as a core focus. I felt so proud of her in that moment. But of course, nothing comes easily. Rumors begin to spread that she leaked the proposal to a rival company, simply because she’s a contract employee. Watching her cry alone on the rooftop was heartbreaking, but Yoon-seong stepping in to encourage her felt steady and reassuring in his own quiet way.
Meanwhile, Tae-hyung is dealing with something much deeper. We learn more about his father’s past, how he ran away leaving his children behind because of debt. And in the present, even though his father tries to help around the apartment complex and slowly earn goodwill, Tae-hyung refuses to open that door again. The hurt runs too deep. When Hyun-jin gently tries to talk to him about it, he lashes out, accusing her of not being on his side. It’s one of those moments where pain speaks louder than reason.
The emotional tension carries into their work lives as well. Hyun-jin is pushed aside for someone more “experienced,” but instead of backing down, Yoon-seong suggests a pitch competition. I loved this so much because it finally gives Hyun-jin a chance to prove herself properly. And she really rises to it.

Tae-hyung, in his own way, supports her too. He brings her along to a photoshoot so she can test her dish idea with foreigners, tying her work and his world together in such a natural way. Watching her confidently present her teokkbokki and gather feedback felt like such a full-circle moment. She’s no longer second-guessing herself.
One of my favorite scenes was when it started raining and the two of them ran for cover. Tae-hyung tells her he may not be able to be her umbrella, but he’ll stay by her side until the rain stops. And Hyun-jin promises to always be on his side. It’s soft, simple, and says so much about how far they’ve come.
The pitch competition itself is so satisfying. Hyun-jin’s presentation, especially with the video feedback, wins the room, and I couldn’t help but smile. She really earned that moment. Tae-hyung celebrating by going out to buy cake with Woo-joo just made it even sweeter.
But of course, Our Universe never lets things stay simple for long. As Hyun-jin walks home in the rain, Yoon-seong appears with an umbrella, keeping his promise from earlier. And this time, he doesn’t hold back. He tells her that he likes her.
When Hearts Open and Secrets Begin to Surface
Episode 8 of Our Universe feels like a soft, emotional push forward… until it suddenly turns into something much darker.
We begin right where we left off, with Yoon-seong finally confessing his feelings to Hyun-jin. It’s calm, sincere, and very much in line with who he is. Meanwhile, Tae-hyung is at home preparing a cake to celebrate her big win, which honestly made my heart ache a little. The timing couldn’t be more bittersweet, especially when Hyun-jin calls to say she’ll be late because she’s having dinner with Yoon-seong.

At dinner, Yoon-seong gently suggests something unexpected. He asks her to go on three dates with him and then decide how she feels. It’s such a thoughtful approach, giving her space rather than pressure. And Hyun-jin, clearly overwhelmed but trying to be fair, agrees to see where things go.
Back at home, Tae-hyung finally gets to congratulate her with the cake, and the moment feels warm but a little fragile. You can sense that both of them are trying to act normal, even though everything has shifted.
Hyun-jin opens up to Se-yeon at work, and I really loved this conversation. She admits that with Tae-hyung, she feels like her most honest self. But with Yoon-seong, she feels inspired to be better. It’s such a real and relatable conflict. Se-yeon wisely tells her to take her time and let her heart figure it out.

At home, life continues in its usual mix of chaos and comfort. Tae-hyung picks up Woo-joo and unexpectedly runs into his father again, who brings a thoughtful gift. There’s still tension there, but also a quiet effort to reconnect.
Then comes one of the most emotional moments of the episode. An insurance agent visits and brings up the payout from Hyun-jin’s sister’s passing. It’s like reopening a wound that never really healed. Hyun-jin can’t hold it in anymore and rushes outside, and Tae-hyung follows her. What I loved here is how he doesn’t try to fix anything. He just tells her not to bottle it up, and she finally lets herself cry. That hug felt so needed.
As things begin to stabilize, we get a lighter, more hopeful stretch. Yoon-seong and Hyun-jin go on another date in the countryside, where they talk about why they chose their careers. Both of them wanting to create comforting food and happy memories felt like such a beautiful parallel.
Back at work, Hyun-jin gets closer to becoming a full-time employee, which honestly made me so proud of her. They celebrate with dinner and drinks, and even Se-yeon and Seung-taek start to have their own little spark, which adds a fun, lively energy to the group.
But of course, nothing stays light for long.

Woo-joo suddenly develops a rash, and everyone rushes to check on him. Tae-hyung’s father recognizes it as a strawberry allergy and helps handle the situation, which softens Tae-hyung just a little. Later, when Tae-hyung returns his father’s dropped wallet and sees an old photo of their family, you can feel something shifting in him. It’s small, but it matters.
That night, Hyun-jin quietly stays by Tae-hyung’s side when he can’t sleep, and their connection feels steady and comforting again.
The next day, Hyun-jin gently suggests inviting Tae-hyung’s father over for dinner as a way to thank him. During that dinner, Tae-hyung finally asks the question he’s been carrying for years. Why did you leave me? His father’s explanation is complicated, filled with regret and excuses, but it seems to reach Tae-hyung in some way. He even gives him the door code so he can help with Woo-joo.
But just when it feels like things might be healing, the story quietly takes a darker turn.
Small details start to feel off. A conversation with the police raises questions about the earlier break-in. The thief they caught denies entering their apartment, even though Tae-hyung’s father claimed to have seen him. Then Hyun-jin learns that someone posing as a guardian has been asking about the insurance payout.
You can see the suspicion begin to grow in her, even though she doesn’t say anything yet.
And then comes the final sequence, which completely changes the tone. Tae-hyung’s father enters the apartment alone, searching through their things. When Hyun-jin returns, everything seems normal at first… until she hears a noise from the bedroom.

She opens the door.
And he’s there, ready to attack.
That ending gave me chills. This episode balanced warmth, romance, and healing so beautifully, only to remind us in the final moments that not everything is as it seems.
And now I’m honestly holding my breath for what comes next.
DramaZen's Opinion

I feel like Episodes 7 and 8 of Our Universe completely pulled me in two different directions, and somehow I loved every second of it.
On one hand, there were so many warm, comforting moments that made me smile. Hyun-jin finally getting the recognition she deserves at work felt so rewarding to watch. She’s worked so hard, and seeing her stand confidently during that pitch and actually win made me so proud of her. And Tae-hyung supporting her in his own quiet way, whether it was helping with her idea or celebrating with Woo-joo, just made my heart feel full.
I also really loved how the emotional layers deepened. Tae-hyung slowly opening up about his past, the complicated feelings toward his father, and that soft shift where his house with Hyun-jin and Woo-joo starts to feel like home… it all felt so genuine. And Hyun-jin continuing to be that steady, warm presence for him, even when things aren’t easy, just makes their connection feel so natural.
But at the same time, these episodes had me on edge in a way I wasn’t expecting. The tension with Tae-hyung’s father kept building quietly in the background, and I kept wondering if something felt off… and then that ending proved it. I genuinely didn’t see it coming in that way, and it completely changed the mood.
And then there’s the love triangle, which somehow keeps getting more complicated without feeling frustrating. Yoon-seong is still so kind and sincere, and I understand why Hyun-jin feels pulled in two directions. But there’s something about the way she is with Tae-hyung that just feels more real, more comfortable, like she can truly be herself.
These episodes felt like a mix of healing, growth, and quiet happiness… right before everything shifts into something more intense. I’m equal parts excited and nervous for what’s coming next, because it feels like the story is about to take a much darker turn.
