Our Universe- Episodes 9-10
When Truth Hurts and Love Feels Out of Reach
Episode 9 of Our Universe is one of those episodes that just sits heavy on your heart from beginning to end.
We pick up right in the middle of the tension, with Hyun-jin catching Tae-hyung’s father, Sun Gyu-tae, snooping through the house. The fear in that moment is so real. She doesn’t hesitate, grabbing the box from him and running, and thankfully Tae-hyung arrives just in time before things escalate further. Watching the two of them stand together in that moment felt strong, but also fragile, like everything they’ve built is being shaken.

At the police station, the truth begins to unfold, and it’s honestly heartbreaking. Tae-hyung learns that his father had been in prison for fraud long before reappearing in his life. But the real emotional weight comes when Officer Jeon Min-cheol, Woo-jin’s senior, steps in and finally shares Woo-jin’s side of the story.
As children, Gyu-tae’s life spiraled after losing his business. He turned to alcohol and became violent, and in a desperate attempt to protect Tae-hyung, Woo-jin sent him away to an orphanage. That detail alone completely reframes everything we thought we knew. Woo-jin wasn’t abandoning him. He was saving him. And even after that, he continued trying to bring justice against their father, collecting evidence, tracking victims, and fighting a system that kept failing him.
Seeing all of Woo-jin’s reports and proof of abuse hits Tae-hyung hard. And when he later finds the photo album, filled with quiet traces of his brother keeping up with his life from afar, it’s almost too much to take in. It’s such a tender, painful realization. He was never forgotten. Not even once.

You can really feel Tae-hyung unraveling after that. He goes out drinking with Ui-jun, weighed down by regret, especially over that missed phone call. Knowing now that Woo-jin was trying to warn him makes it even more tragic.
Meanwhile, Hyun-jin finally gets the good news she deserves. She’s offered a full-time position at BS Food, and I couldn’t help but feel proud of her in that moment. But even in her happiness, there’s guilt. She quietly wonders if she played a role in pushing Tae-hyung toward this painful confrontation with his past.
Back at home, everything feels a little quieter, a little more distant. Hyun-jin tries to comfort Tae-hyung, reminding him that he still has family in her and Woo-joo, but he’s too weighed down by everything to accept it. That emotional distance between them really hurt to watch.
Yoon-seong steps in again, offering his steady presence. He visits Hyun-jin and Woo-joo, cooks for them, and spends time with them at the park. When he shares that he also grew up in an orphanage, it adds another layer to his character. His promise to be a reliable presence, someone they can lean on, feels sincere and grounding.
On the other side, Tae-hyung finally meets his father in prison and makes a clear decision. He files a restraining order and cuts ties completely. It’s a painful but necessary step, even if it doesn’t bring him peace right away.
And then comes one of the most emotional turning points. Hyun-jin returns home to find Tae-hyung packed and ready to leave. He tells her he can’t be part of a family, not when he feels like he failed to protect the people he cares about. No matter how much she insists that they are family, he pulls away. Watching him leave felt like something quietly breaking.

Even when they cross paths again at a work shoot, the distance is still there. Tae-hyung overhears people assuming Hyun-jin is with Yoon-seong, and before he can process it, another moment of danger strikes. A ladder nearly falls on Hyun-jin, and while Tae-hyung rushes forward, it’s Yoon-seong who reaches her first. It’s such a small moment, but it says so much about where things stand between them.
Tae-hyung admits to Ui-jun that he can’t go back, that he even feels responsible for Hyun-jin’s sister’s death. The weight he’s carrying feels unbearable at this point.
And then, the episode ends on a quiet but emotional note. At Woo-joo’s daycare recital, Hyun-jin is surrounded by families and feels the absence of her own support system. It’s such a soft, lonely moment. But then Woo-joo runs out, straight into Yoon-seong’s arms, and you can’t help but feel how much the dynamics are shifting.
When Hearts Finally Speak in the Rain
Episode 10 of Our Universe feels like that long-awaited moment where everything that’s been quietly building finally spills out in the most heartfelt way.
We start at Woo-joo’s recital, and it’s already a little emotional. Yoon-seong is there, steady as always, right by Hyun-jin’s side. Then Tae-hyung arrives, just a little too late, and you can see the disappointment settle on his face when he sees them together. It’s such a small moment, but it says so much about where everyone stands.

Back at the studio, things are shifting too. Manager Jo is packing up to leave for the U.S., unable to stay near Amy Choo anymore. There’s something quietly heartbreaking about that kind of love, the kind that chooses distance over pain. Even Amy seems touched when she later sees the detailed report he left behind about her habits. It’s his way of caring, even as he walks away.
Meanwhile, life continues in its everyday rhythm. When Ms Park falls ill, Tae-hyung steps in without hesitation, picking up Woo-joo and spending the day with him. Their little outing, buying books and just being together, feels so warm and natural. And when Tae-hyung later returns Woo-joo to Hyun-jin’s home, there’s that familiar awkwardness again. But even in the silence, his care shows. He offers to keep helping, and quietly leaves behind the lamp that first connected them. That detail felt so symbolic, like he’s holding onto their beginning even as things feel uncertain.
Hyun-jin, on the other hand, is trying to sort through her feelings. Yoon-seong continues to show up for her in every practical way, offering rides, support, and steady companionship. But instead of comfort, it leaves her feeling a little uneasy. When she opens up to Se-yeon, it becomes clear why. Sometimes kindness isn’t enough if your heart is already leaning somewhere else.
At the same time, Tae-hyung is surrounded by reminders of what it means to act on your feelings. His friends talk about Manager Jo leaving instead of confessing, and you can see it hits him. His own home has changed too. It’s no longer just his space. It’s filled with traces of Woo-joo, of care, of a life he didn’t expect but has quietly grown into.

Then everything starts to come together in the most unexpected way.
A simple misunderstanding spreads that Tae-hyung is the one leaving for the U.S., and that rumor finds its way to Hyun-jin. She’s in the middle of her third date with Yoon-seong at the orphanage, a place filled with memories and meaning. Watching a child wait for their mother, she can’t help but think of Tae-hyung. And suddenly, everything becomes clear.
At the same time, Tae-hyung is dealing with Amy Choo, who is drowning her feelings in wine. In a moment that mirrors his own journey, he encourages her not to run away from love. He takes her to the airport, giving her a chance to face what she’s been avoiding.
And then comes the moment that made my heart race.
It starts to rain.
Hyun-jin remembers Tae-hyung’s quiet promise, that even if he couldn’t be her umbrella, he would stay by her side in the rain. And without hesitation, she leaves, racing to the airport.

When she finally sees him, standing there with luggage, she doesn’t wait. She doesn’t overthink. She simply runs to him, tells him she’s missed him, and confesses that she likes him. It’s raw and honest and everything we’ve been waiting for.
And when he tries to explain, she doesn’t let him. She kisses him.
He kisses her back.
And gently, reassuringly, he tells her he isn’t going anywhere.
It’s such a beautiful payoff. After all the hesitation, the misunderstandings, and the quiet longing, they finally choose each other. And somehow, it feels both dramatic and incredibly simple at the same time.
This episode felt like standing in the rain and realizing you’re no longer alone.
DramaZen's Opinion

A Little Bit of Heartache… and the Sweetest Payoff
Episodes 9 and 10 of Our Universe honestly felt like an emotional rollercoaster, but in the best way.
Episode 9 completely broke my heart. Finding out the truth about Tae-hyung’s past and what his brother actually did for him changed everything. That moment when he realizes he was never abandoned, just protected… it hurt so much. And then watching him spiral into guilt and push Hyun-jin away? I just wanted to hug him through the screen.
At the same time, I loved seeing Hyun-jin finally get her full-time position. She deserved that win so much. But even in her happiest moments, you could feel how heavy everything still was between them. Their distance felt real, not forced, and that made it even harder to watch.
And then Episode 10 came in and gently put all the pieces back together.
The slow build throughout the episode was so satisfying. Tae-hyung quietly showing up for Woo-joo, helping around the house, still caring for Hyun-jin in all these small, thoughtful ways… it just reminded me why I love him so much. And Hyun-jin finally realizing that something felt off with Yoon-seong, despite how kind and perfect he seemed, felt so true to her character.
But that airport scene? I was not prepared.
The rain, the misunderstanding, her running to him without overthinking, just following her heart… and then the confession. It was everything I wanted. It didn’t feel rushed or overly dramatic. It felt earned. And when he said he wasn’t going anywhere, it just tied everything together so perfectly.
These two episodes felt like heartbreak and healing back-to-back. Messy, emotional, but ultimately so rewarding. I finished them with the biggest smile.
