Aoshima-kun wa Ijiwaru- Episode 5
Misunderstandings, Bold Moves, and Love Confessions
Episode 5 of Aoshima-kun wa Ijiwaru gave us all the romance, awkward hilarity, and emotional breakthroughs we’ve been waiting for! From lingerie woes to heartfelt confessions in the rain, this episode had everything to keep us glued to our screens. Let’s break it down!
We pick up right where we left off—Yukino and Aoshima in her hotel room, things getting a little too intimate. But just as things heat up, Yukino panics, suddenly remembering her choice of, well, less-than-desirable underwear (cue the five-year-old cotton high-waists... lol). She quickly pushes Aoshima away and apologizes, leaving him shocked and confused. Ever the gentleman, he excuses himself and retreats back to his room, leaving Yukino embarrassed and overthinking.
Back at the office after the weekend, Tanazaki is whining about how tough life is to Kimura, while Yukino, ever the avoidance queen, dashes out the moment Aoshima steps into their department. Takako finds her hiding and drags her off for a coffee chat. Yukino spills everything about the awkward hot spring moment, and Takako can’t help but laugh, teasing her about her underwear choices and recommending “pretty lingerie” (apparently, T-backs are her secret weapon to avoid panty lines… lol).
Yukino also mentions that Aoshima had left early the next morning due to a work emergency. Takako sympathizes with Aoshima and nudges Yukino to face her feelings rather than hiding behind old underwear. Taking Takako's advice to heart, Yukino resolves to throw away her cotton collection—but of course, she ends up keeping them “just for home wear.” Baby steps, Yukino!
The next morning at work, Aoshima catches Yukino at the entrance and apologizes for leaving early at the hotel. Yukino tries to explain what really happened, but Aoshima cuts her off, assuming she was just tired. Frustrated, Yukino raises her voice, insisting he let her talk—only to be interrupted by his phone ringing. She walks away in frustration, questioning whether taking the next step with Aoshima is worth it.
Meanwhile, Tanazaki and Aoshima head to the bar, where Tanazaki vents to Aoshima’s moms about his own girlfriend problems. Aoshima listens in silence, quietly reflecting on his own situation and beginning to doubt Yukino’s feelings. Why did she reject him that night?
On the other hand, Yukino spends her night alone at home, nursing a drink and contemplating Aoshima. Just as she’s about to overthink herself into oblivion, Aoshima sends her a text, asking if they can properly talk after work the next day. She agrees, wondering if this could be the moment to finally face her feelings.
Before their planned meetup, work throws Yukino a curveball—she’s asked to check on some flowers meant for a client, only to realize they were sent to the wrong address. Rushing to fix the mistake, she forgets her phone at the office, leaving Aoshima in the dark. After resolving the mix-up, Yukino tries to make it to their meeting, but the client pulls her in for drinks. By the time she gets to the bar, Aoshima is already gone.
Disappointed and drenched from the sudden rain, Yukino heads home—only to find Aoshima waiting for her on the street. Concerned, he tells her he was worried and, in a rare moment of vulnerability, admits that waiting for her made him realize how much he misses her when she’s not around. His feelings, he declares, are definitely love.
Yukino, naturally, thinks he’s teasing again. But Aoshima, visibly frustrated, insists he’s serious. When Yukino brings up their age gap as an issue, he shuts it down, demanding honesty rather than excuses. Feeling cornered, Yukino finally admits—she doesn’t want him to go.
In a beautifully tender moment, Aoshima smiles and tells her that she’s made him the happiest he’s ever been. They return to her apartment, where their feelings finally overflow. As they kiss, Yukino can’t help but think, “He makes me want to believe this is possible.”
DramaZen's Opinion
This episode was the perfect mix of humor, romance, and emotional growth. Yukino’s struggles with self-doubt and overthinking felt so relatable, while Aoshima’s persistence and sincerity really shone through. The age gap concern added another layer of realism to their dynamic, but Aoshima’s heartfelt confession proved he’s all in, leaving Yukino no choice but to face her feelings.
The rain-soaked confession scene? Absolute perfection. It was the emotional climax we’ve been waiting for, and the chemistry between them was off the charts. Also, shoutout to Takako for being the best wingwoman and comedic relief!
With the emotional walls finally breaking down, Yukino and Aoshima are stepping into uncharted territory. We can’t wait to see what happens next now that they’re facing their feelings head-on!
