Bad-Memory Eraser: Episodes 7-8
Episode 7 of Bad-Memory Eraser kicks off with a surge of tension as Gun, Shin, and Ju-yeon find themselves in an awkward love triangle. Shin, trying to keep his jealousy in check, pretends not to know Ju-yeon, but the sight of Gun caring for her visibly bothers him. Afterward, Ju-yeon tries to smooth things over, hoping their lunch date is still on.
Shin, however, seems more reflective than ever, struck by how a traumatic drowning incident has somehow become a cherished memory for Gun, all thanks to the power of love. Meanwhile, Gun recalls Tae-oh’s revelations about the tension between him and Ju-yeon before the accident, adding more layers to the mystery.
As if things weren’t already complicated, Gun, believing he's alone, wanders his condo—naked—only to be startled by Ju-yeon, who has returned to study Shi-on’s case. The awkwardness escalates when Ju-yeon notices the phone charger he bought for her, but Gun clumsily tries to pass it off as the landlord’s. He quickly switches topics by showing her Shi-on’s practice videos, but her loud commentary irritates him. The next morning, he refrains from offering her breakfast, claiming he needs to distance himself so he doesn’t fall for her again.
Elsewhere, Shin’s life is spiraling. After a drunken night, he returns home only to face an angry Mrs. Lee, who scolds him for not living up to everyone’s sacrifices. If he wants a normal life, she insists, he should quit tennis. Amid the chaos, Mr. Lee pulls Shin aside, and surprisingly, Shin feels a flicker of happiness at the idea of reconnecting with Gun.
Meanwhile, Sae-yan is in her own predicament, pleading with her father for money since he’s never allowed her to work. He orders her to come home, but she promises to return only after she’s found “someone.” Seung-hyeon, feeling sorry for her, gives her his piggy bank.
But Sae-yan’s journey takes an unexpected turn when she spots a sulking Shin waiting to catch a glimpse of Ju-yeon, while lying to his mom about his whereabouts. She blackmails him into driving her to a village in search of the mysterious man she’s been chasing. When the search fails, her frustration boils over, and in a fit of mischief, she throws Shin into the water. Shin, ever the prankster, gets his revenge by driving off without her.
Back at the hospital, Ju-yeon waits for Shin to show up for their lunch date, but he’s a no-show. Instead, she ends up with Gun and Shi-on, who is preparing for a crucial national teams competition. Despite their rocky relationship, Ju-yeon is determined to win Shi-on over. But her mind seems elsewhere, and during a patient session, she spaces out.
Sae-yan calls Ju-yeon for a ride, and Gun volunteers to drive her. Curious about Ju-yeon’s mysterious connection to Sae-yan, he probes, only for Ju-yeon to reveal she owes Sae-yan a “wish debt.” As they drive, they come across a dead animal, and Gun, showing his soft side, stops to bury it.
Meanwhile, Shin picks up Sae-yan, who now claims she no longer needs Ju-yeon’s help. When Shin asks about the mysterious man she’s been searching for, she drops a bombshell—he’s her first love.
As the day unfolds, Gun notices Ju-yeon’s sadness and asks her what’s wrong. She confides in him about her father, an emotional psychiatrist who was tragically killed by a delusional patient. Since then, she’s kept her distance from patients, afraid of getting too close. Her recent realization that she’s become detached from her work has left her disappointed in herself, but Gun reassures her that even listening to someone can make a difference.
The day of the big competition arrives, and tensions are high. Shin ignores Ju-yeon, while Mrs. Cha pressures Shi-on to excel. Just before the match, Shi-on collapses, sending Gun and Ju-yeon rushing her to the hospital—only to discover she’s faking it, overwhelmed by the weight of expectations. Ju-yeon channels Gun’s wisdom, telling Shi-on to do what she truly wants, and Shi-on agrees to compete.
Gun, ever the strategist, has secretly arranged for Shi-on to play in the doubles match with Shin, ensuring they can cover each other’s weaknesses for a guaranteed win. As they wait for the results, Ju-yeon makes a wish bracelet for Sae-yan, but Gun mistakenly thinks it’s for him, sparking playful banter between the two. Their teasing is interrupted by the news that Shi-on and Shin have won the match.
From afar, Guk-bong and Shin watch the unfolding drama. Guk-bong is surprised that Shin agreed to play doubles and questions his motivations. Shin’s cryptic response only adds to the intrigue—he’s doing it for Ju-yeon. As Guk-bong presses further, Shin drops another bombshell: Ju-yeon was Gun’s first love. Guk-bong is stunned, realizing this changes everything—especially the reunion kiss.
In the final moments of Episode 7, Guk-bong confronts Ju-yeon, demanding she stay away from Gun. The truth hits like a tidal wave—Gun jumped into the river out of heartbreak after seeing Shin and Ju-yeon kiss at the reunion. Shin, piecing it all together, finally realizes that Gun’s first love wasn’t Ju-yeon—it was Sae-yan.
As the episode closes, Gun and Sae-yan shake hands, gearing up to meet the Italian coach, while a storm of unresolved emotions brews beneath the surface. The love triangle—or should we say square—is about to explode.
Episode 8 of Bad-Memory Eraser kicks off with tension building as Gun experiences sharp pain in his wrist and a wave of disorientation. Stumbling into the meeting room, he’s met with an angry Italian coach who demands to know where Shin is. Sae-yan steps in, distracting the coach with Dalgona coffee while Gun frantically searches for his brother.
Meanwhile, Shin admits to Guk-bong’s accusations, confessing that he too doesn’t want Gun regaining his old memories. He reveals that the kiss between him and Ju-yeon was a misunderstanding, and although they aren’t together, he feels protective of his brother. Ju-yeon, confused by Shin’s lie, feels guilty but agrees to help him keep Gun in the dark for the sake of his happiness. The two form an uneasy alliance, with Shin cheekily adding that he's relieved she’s not Gun’s first love.
Back in the meeting, Sae-yan and Shi-on have charmed the coach, who agrees to take them both on for the national team. Sae-yan is ecstatic after earning her first paycheck and decides to tag along with Gun and Shi-on, much to Gun’s irritation. As they leave, Gun ends up taking Sae-yan home after Ju-yeon fails to pick her up. Sae-yan dozes off, leaving Gun awkwardly wondering how to text Ju-yeon, who, on the other end, is also thinking of texting him. Things get even more awkward when Gun sends her the wrong message, only to be interrupted by a call from Shin.
Ju-yeon’s irritation deepens as she feels Gun’s hot-and-cold behavior, especially as Sae-yan finds his quirky nature charming. Shin later teases Gun, trying to figure out if his brother still has feelings for Ju-yeon, but Gun deflects, leaving the question hanging.
The next day, both Gun and Ju-yeon go out of their way to dress up for their first day of work together. But Ju-yeon gets self-conscious, remembering Dr. Han's advice to remain professional, and opts for a more casual look. Their awkwardness bubbles up during a conversation about Gun’s “feelings diary,” which he dismisses by scribbling nonsense and running off. Ju-yeon vents to Dr. Han, who keenly observes that her personal feelings are clouding her judgment. Meanwhile, Gun is invigorated after securing an investment from Chairman Won’s manager, much to the shock of his rival, CEO Hong, who is dismissed unless he can convince Shin to stay.
At the hospital, things take a turn when Shin's mother, Mrs. Lee, accidentally stirs up gossip by claiming that Gun is dating Ju-yeon, much to Ju-yeon’s dismay. Shin only adds fuel to the fire, confusing everyone with cryptic remarks. Alone, Ju-yeon tries to reprimand Shin, but he finds the situation amusing. However, their conversation takes a serious turn when they realize that Gun’s old feelings diary—likely filled with his resentment towards his family and Ju-yeon—could be crucial in understanding his emotional state.
While this unfolds, Gun delves deeper into his accident, visiting the bridge where it all happened. As fragmented memories resurface, he suddenly recalls the night of the reunion—feeling the pain of being choked but unable to remember who attacked him. At the same time, Shin scrambles to find all of Gun’s old diaries, but one ends up in Ju-yeon’s hands after a mix-up with their suitcases. In a twist, Sae-yan unknowingly discards the crucial diary to hide her paycheck, oblivious to its importance.
The evening brings more complications. Ju-yeon, determined to avoid further misunderstandings, tries to distance herself from Gun, only to be caught off guard when he saves her from a fall. Their moment is cut short by Gun’s parents, who have arrived for dinner with Shin. Ju-yeon makes a hasty exit, and as she waits outside barefoot, Shin arrives with a pair of shoes and a blanket, just in time to witness a tense moment between her and Gun.
Jealousy brews as Shin watches Gun carry Ju-yeon back inside. His frustrations peak when he encounters Hong, who threatens to reveal a secret from the night of the accident. Shin dismisses him, but Hong produces a photo of Shin threatening Gun at the bridge—an explosive revelation.
As Gun and Ju-yeon prepare to open the door, they overhear the confrontation between Hong and Shin. Although Gun recalls hitting his head before falling into the river, he’s still in the dark about the full truth. Ju-yeon promises to explain, but Gun is hurt by her deception as well. The episode ends with Hong piecing together the chilling truth: Shin may have pushed Gun into the river that fateful night.
DramaZen's Opinion
Episode 7 finally pulls back the curtain on some long-awaited revelations, as we inch closer to uncovering the truth. Gun’s long-anticipated meeting with Sae-yan sets the stage for some tension, Ju-yeon’s web of lies begins to unravel, and Shin is forced to confront the real reason for Gun’s anger on the day of the reunion. Amid all the drama, it’s Guk-bong who proves to be Gun’s one true friend, standing by him when no one else does.
But what happens now that the love rectangle is in full swing? Sae-yan is still head-over-heels for Gun, who’s clearly fixated on Ju-yeon, while Ju-yeon’s conflicted feelings seem to lean toward Shin, the ever-loyal second lead. It’s a tangled mess of unrequited love and misplaced affection, and we’re left wondering how the writers will sort it out. As we approach the halfway mark of the series, it’s about time the dynamic between Gun and Ju-yeon gets some serious attention before the inevitable “endgame” arrives.
Speaking of Ju-yeon, she’s slowly warming up, but her chemistry with Shin is undeniable—though we all know how things typically go for the second male lead in a K-drama. We can only hope the writers give Gun and Ju-yeon a little more spark before it's too late.
Now, on to the mystery that’s brewing. Did Shin really use his influence to erase the CCTV footage? Episode 8 serves up some clever misdirection, casting suspicion on Shin, but let’s be real—it’s hard to believe he actually pushed Gun into the river. More likely, the brothers got into a heated argument, Shin threw Gun’s medal into the river, and Gun, in a desperate attempt to retrieve it, slipped and hit his head. The twist? Shin probably jumped in to save him.
At its core, Bad-Memory Eraser isn’t just a mystery; it’s a rom-com with the bridge incident acting as the spark that drives a wedge between the characters. But if history serves, we’re betting on a happy resolution for the Lee brothers—and maybe even some romance along the way. We’ll just have to wait and see if they can mend their fractured relationship before everything comes crashing down.
