Bad-Memory Eraser: Episodes 9-10
In this week's episode of Bad-Memory Eraser, the mystery takes a backseat as the characters embark on a chaotic road trip filled with unexpected twists and hilarious mishaps. A change of scenery is all it takes for hidden tensions to surface and long-repressed feelings to come bubbling up to the surface.
As Gun overhears Shin’s intense confrontation with Director Hong, a sharp pain strikes his head, causing Joo-yeon to rush to his side. Her concern only deepens Gun’s suspicions — they’ve been keeping the truth about his memory loss from him all along. Despite his doubts, he allows Joo-yeon to whisk him to the hospital for a scan and an IV drip.
Meanwhile, Shin drowns his sorrows at a bar, getting himself into a brawl with some rowdy patrons. Just as Joo-yeon arrives, paralyzed by her own trauma, Gun swoops in wielding a tennis racket to save his brother. But before he can fully enjoy his heroic moment, the sedative takes hold, leaving Joo-yeon to drag both brothers back to the office.
Training season kicks off for Shin and Shi-on, but the need for an interpreter brings Sae-yan back into the picture. When Shin realizes her presence might trigger Gun’s memories, he tries to push her away — but she responds with a swift kick to his foot. Tension between them is palpable, yet comical.
Shi-on, feeling the weight of online harassment, receives a heartfelt, albeit cheesy, pep talk from Joo-yeon. Though cringeworthy, her sincerity gets through, and Shi-on powers through to save Gun from the hefty fines of a canceled ad contract. Grateful for Joo-yeon’s help, Gun invites her for a casual dinner.
But Shin has other plans. He invites Joo-yeon to a fancy dinner, hoping to turn it into a romantic evening. As they chat, Shin shares a childhood story about Gun’s love for jellies, and the perceptive Shin instantly catches Joo-yeon’s reaction. “Do you like my brother?” he asks, watching as her eyes light up. Despite her denial, she can’t hide her growing feelings for Gun.
Later, Joo-yeon buys Gun jellies, leading to a charged moment over a beer that nearly spills into something more. As they fall asleep on the couch, Gun comes up with a wild idea: sneak into Shi-on’s school to erase the nasty comments on her desk. In the deserted halls, Joo-yeon clings to Gun, her fear giving way to trust as they paint over the graffiti together.
As they leave, Joo-yeon realizes her feelings for Gun, but can’t bring herself to admit them. Impulsively, she hugs him, only to quickly pull away, leaving Gun intrigued by her mixed signals.
The next day, Joo-yeon tries to avoid Gun, hiding behind cardboard cutouts to escape him. But their love-triangle road trip takes a wild turn when Sae-yan, fleeing her father’s bodyguards, shoves them all into one car and speeds off. In a comedic mix-up, Shin accidentally leaves Gun and Joo-yeon behind at a rest stop, prompting a furious Sae-yan to grab Shin by the hair in a hilarious showdown. Their petty squabbles take a heartfelt turn when Shin, feeling guilty, searches for Sae-yan along a mountain trail, only to get bitten by a mysterious creature.
Thinking he’s at death’s door, Shin admits to contacting Sae-yan’s father, leading to a startling revelation — Sae-yan’s been searching for her biological father, not Gun. Just when things couldn’t get more complicated, Shin’s near-death confession turns out to be the result of a bee sting, not a venomous snake bite.
After all the chaos, the group is finally on their way to the training center — until they run out of gas. Thankfully, Shi-on’s mom saves the day, giving our ragtag crew a much-needed break. As the episode closes, Gun and Joo-yeon share a quiet moment by a creek where Gun confesses his feelings. But Joo-yeon, wracked with guilt, can’t bring herself to accept. Gun, seeing through her denial, pulls her in for a kiss, and for a brief moment, everything falls away as she leans in.
This episode balances lighthearted humor with tender moments of vulnerability, leaving us eager to see how these complicated relationships will evolve. Will Joo-yeon confront her feelings? Will Shin ever stop causing trouble? One thing’s for sure — the road ahead is as unpredictable as ever.
DramaZen's Opinion
Episode 9 finally heats up the romance between our leads, but not without raising a few eyebrows. With Sae-yan's reveal as Gun's true first love looming, the sudden shift in Ju-yeon’s feelings for Gun feels rushed and a bit off-kilter. For eight episodes, she’s had a strained, borderline toxic relationship with him. Now, out of nowhere, she’s caught up in longing stares and heart-fluttering moments, making the whole romance seem out of character for her.
It’s hard to ignore the damage this sudden development does to the more organic chemistry Ju-yeon shared with Shin. What felt like a slow-burn, caring relationship between them has now been sidelined. Instead, she’s disregarding Shin entirely as her focus abruptly shifts to Gun. The drama’s attempts to convince us that Ju-yeon and Gun are "endgame" feel forced, and it’s uncertain whether the show can recover from this misstep. But, for now, we’re still tuning in for the Lee brothers’ dynamic.
By Episode 10, it’s clear the writers are pulling every romantic trope in the book to fix the rocky start between Ju-yeon and Gun. It’s almost as if they’re trying to erase their toxic beginnings with swoon-worthy moments, but it’s not quite working—though it’s undeniably entertaining to watch.
Meanwhile, Sae-yan and Shin’s enemies-to-lovers arc is shaping up to be a far more compelling love story. Their bickering and misunderstandings never cross into the toxic territory that defined Ju-yeon and Gun’s relationship, making it feel like a more natural, satisfying progression.
The show still has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep viewers coming back. The mystery of Gun’s first love takes an intriguing turn when Sae-yan reveals she’s not searching for an old flame but her biological father. Yet, it still seems likely that Sae-yan is the one who saved Gun and placed his medal at the reunion, making her the true first love. Ju-yeon, on the other hand, has no memory of the event, and the idea of her being Gun’s first love feels like a stretch.
While the romantic developments are hit or miss, Bad-Memory Eraser continues to keep us hooked with its evolving mysteries and unexpected twists.
