In the heart of the Daming Dynasty, four spirited individuals—Yuan Mo, A Shu, Wang Kun Wu, and Yu Chi Hua—embark on a daring quest for justice and national pride. Yuan Mo, a humble commoner from Changle City, starts his day at the city gates, issuing permits to foreign visitors with the revered seal of the Four Square Pavilion. However, everything changes when he crosses paths with A Shu, a desperate refugee from the Yanle Kingdom attempting to sneak into the city. Their chance encounter ignites a fierce altercation, drawing the attention of the newly appointed border general, Wang Kun Wu, who finds himself punished and reassigned to the Four Square Pavilion.

As fate entwines their destinies, Yuan Mo is unexpectedly thrust into the chaotic world of international diplomacy under the watchful eye of Yu De Shui, the head of the western office. Amidst political intrigue and cultural clashes, A Shu becomes his quirky "little maidservant," while Wang Kun Wu assumes the role of his commanding superior. The formidable Yu Chi Hua, a noblewoman wielding significant influence, adds her strength to their evolving dynamic.

Initially derided as the "useless" member of the western office, Yuan Mo’s journey is anything but ordinary. With each challenge he faces, he matures and transforms, proving that even the most unlikely heroes can make a mark in the pursuit of justice. As their lives intertwine, can these four determined souls unite to confront the greater threats looming over their nation?
