Reborn to Ruin My Ex and Rule His World- By: Tina Marie
Chapter 15 - Fire in the Court
Hall of Celestial Justice – Three Days Later
The hall was colder than usual. No incense. No cushions. Just stone and silence.
Shen Lianhua entered alone.
Summoned not as a bride, not as a noblewoman—but as a woman of influence.
At the far end of the hall sat the Emperor, robed in black and gold, his expression carved from the same stone that lined the room.
He studied her as she bowed.
“Rise.”
She did.
“Tell me,” he said slowly, “why I should not fear a woman who poisons enemies with smiles and dismantles reputations without ever lifting a blade.”
Lianhua met his gaze.
“Because fear is reserved for those who lose control. I never have.”
He raised a brow.
“You orchestrated a social purge beneath a wedding veil. You crushed rumors, spies, and schemes with barely a whisper. Even Mei is finished, and you never once accused her in public.”
She nodded. “I didn't need to.”
“And now you sit beside my son,” he continued, “closer to my throne than any woman in three generations.”
She paused.
Then stepped forward.
“I do not want your throne, Your Majesty. I want your legacy—to matter.”
“To whom?”
“To the women who have learned silence as a survival skill. To the wives who were sold as treaties. To the girls taught they must be obedient to be safe.”
The Emperor leaned back.
For the first time, he looked tired.
“You speak like someone who’s bled for power.”
“No,” she said. “Like someone who bled for dignity.”
He studied her a moment longer.
Then turned to his chief scribe.
“Issue the decree,” he said. “Upon the next full moon, Shen Lianhua shall be crowned Crown Princess in full ceremony, recognized not as an accessory—but as a ruler in her own right.”
“And in time… perhaps Empress.”
Lianhua bowed, lower than she ever had.
But this time, not in fear.
Outside the Hall
Li Shenzhao waited in the shadowed corridor, his arms folded. When she stepped out, he already knew.
“So,” he said. “How does it feel?”
She smiled. “Like fire that’s finally under control.”
He reached for her hand.
“Then let’s light the path forward.”
