Netflix is heating things up in 2026 with its latest announcement — and trust us, this one’s going to be a must-watch. The streaming giant has confirmed that Son Ye Jin, Ji Chang Wook, and After School’s Nana will lead the cast of the upcoming historical romance Scandal, a bold reimagining of the iconic French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses — set in the alluring world of the Joseon Dynasty!

That’s right — the classic tale of seduction, power, and revenge is getting a K-drama makeover, and it’s coming with elegance, intensity, and a whole lot of scandal.

A Dangerous Game of Love & Deception in Joseon

Scandal is based on the 2003 film of the same name, itself inspired by the French literary classic. But this version transports the drama to a beautifully stylized Joseon era, where one fierce woman challenges societal norms and plays a deadly game of love and manipulation with a legendary heartbreaker.

Son Ye Jin will take on the role of Madam Cho, a woman of incredible intellect and elegance, who refuses to be confined by the limits imposed on her as a woman. With her sharp wit and quiet strength, she boldly initiates a high-stakes romantic game with a man known far and wide for his… conquests.

Enter Ji Chang Wook as Cho Won, Joseon’s most infamous playboy. Charming, calculating, and utterly unshakable, he doesn’t believe in love — only in winning. But when Madam Cho becomes his opponent, things quickly spiral into something neither of them expected.

And then there’s Nana, playing Hui Yeon, a chaste widow who has lived a quiet life — until Cho Won enters the picture. Her vulnerability and passion bring a poignant depth to the drama, as she becomes entangled in this dangerous triangle of desire.

Behind the Scenes Powerhouse

The series will be helmed by celebrated director Jung Ji Woo (Tune In for Love, Somebody) and written by the dynamic duo Lee Seung Young (The Art of Negotiation) and *Ahn Hye Song. With just eight episodes planned, Scandal promises to be a tight, addictive ride filled with emotional twists and visual splendor.

Supporting Cast & Production

K-pop fans, take note: SF9’s Chani and SECRET’s Han Sun Hwa are also reportedly joining the cast, rounding out an already star-studded lineup with even more intrigue and charisma.

Production kicks off in the first half of 2025, with a Netflix premiere set for 2026. If you’ve been craving a drama that blends sensuality, suspense, and historical elegance, Scandal might just be your next obsession.
