Misunderstandings, Mountain Tops, and Messy Emotions

Episode 5 opens with a haunting flashback: a young Ho-su in a car accident with his father. Years later, the doctors deliver the truth—he won’t fully recover. That diagnosis defines much of Ho-su’s path, including the slow, steady climb up a school mountain hike where he meets Mi-ji halfway. That moment changes everything.

Jump to the present. Ho-su finally confesses: Mi-ji was his first love. It started on that mountain. Mi-ji, caught off guard, clearly feels something too—but he cuts their conversation short for work, leaving her with more questions than answers. Chief among them? If he liked her, why did she see him hugging Mi-rae the day of her accident?

Back at the office, Mi-ji’s thrown another curveball—she’s tasked with writing a report for the company’s redevelopment project. Meanwhile, she checks in on Ro-sa, who’s now facing gallstone surgery. Ho-su steps up and delays the meeting with Mi-rae’s director to give Ro-sa time to recover.

At home, Mi-ji is stuck. Writing the report feels impossible until her grandmother reminds her of their shared promise—to take life one day at a time. The next morning, Mi-ji finds research materials mysteriously placed on her desk. Turns out, they’re from Kim Tae-i, the mysterious data analyst who turns out to be way more helpful (and high-profile) than he lets on. After some pleading, Mi-ji convinces him to help her finish the report.

Meanwhile, Ho-su, still tangled in feelings for the woman he thinks is Mi-rae, heads to the countryside to meet the real Mi-rae—posing as Mi-ji. He reminisces about the mountain hike and thanks her, thinking it was her support that helped him climb that day. Mi-rae listens, but gives nothing away, leaving Ho-su more confused than ever.

Later, Mi-rae tells Mi-ji about the visit, and suddenly the truth clicks into place. The hug Mi-ji saw back in high school? Not romantic at all. Mi-rae had fainted from illness, and Ho-su had taken her to the hospital. She’d sworn him to secrecy so it wouldn’t derail her CSAT prep. Mi-ji’s three years of isolation and regret had been built on a misunderstanding.

As Mi-ji tries to process this emotional gut punch, rumors are swirling around Mi-rae—still disguised as Mi-ji. Locals spotted her with Se-jin and Mi-ji’s ex, and assume there’s a love triangle brewing. Their mother confronts her, demanding answers. Mi-rae denies everything but is rattled. She flashes back to her own past trauma and ends up quitting her job at the farm.

Meanwhile, Mi-ji’s slimy director tries to take credit for setting up the meeting with Ro-sa—only to get humiliated when Ho-su shuts him down. Ro-sa rejected the proposal, and Ho-su makes it clear: deal with him directly from now on.

Back in the office, Mi-ji finally turns in her report—and gets shredded by her manager, who dismisses it as weak and unimpressive. Crushed, Mi-ji drinks herself into a stupor and is found by Tae-i, who gently coaxes out her story. She explains how long it took her to leave her room after her injury, and how even now, she’s fighting to keep moving forward.

A flashback shows just how far she’s come—spending four hours just to visit her grandmother at the hospital. It’s there she promised to take life step by step. Live first, figure it out later.

The episode closes on an emotional high. Mi-ji, still reeling, confronts Ho-su about the mountain hike. Why did he fall for her? Ho-su answers simply: because she believed in him when he didn’t believe in himself. Without her, he wouldn’t have made it up that mountain—or become who he is now.

Mi-ji doesn’t hesitate anymore. She tells him the truth: she likes him too.

Secrets, Switchbacks, and Surprise Confessions

Episode 6 opens with a bombshell—Mi-ji finally confesses her feelings to Ho-su… who still thinks she’s Mi-rae. But the aftermath is anything but romantic. Mi-ji wakes up at Ho-su’s place with a hangover, a memory blackout, and full-blown panic. He’s calm, she’s spiraling, and the whole situation is classic Mi-ji chaos.

She shows up late to work, only to find Tae-i has already left her hangover medicine. After their honest conversation at the bar the night before, he’s clearly softening toward her—and it’s not going unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Ho-su is dragged out for lunch by Ji-yun, who’s determined to turn their situationship into something real. He’s clearly not interested, but she pushes anyway—even going so far as to tell “Mi-rae” (Mi-ji) that she’s claimed him. Bold move.

Earlier that day, Mi-ji had already impressed at a major landowner meeting. With the incompetent Gyeong-min stumbling through his pitch, Mi-ji steps in and takes control, handling things like a pro. Gyeong-min isn’t thrilled, but her stock within the company is definitely rising.

After work, Ji-yun and Ho-su stop by Mi-ji’s place to return her bag, which only deepens the misunderstanding spiral. Mi-ji’s still trying to piece together the night she spent at Ho-su’s, but the flashbacks reveal it was innocent—just a drunken nap on his shoulder and a trip back to his place. Nothing more. At least, not yet.

Elsewhere, Mi-rae has quit the strawberry farm and is sinking into a funk. She avoids her mother and ignores her mounting anxiety—especially the rumors flying around about her and Se-jin. She eventually calls Mi-ji, opens up about her stress, and suggests switching back next week. Mi-ji’s stunned. The twin swap has become more than just a cover—it’s turned into an emotional escape.

Back at work, Lee Chung-gu throws another wrench into Mi-ji’s life. He pulls her aside and drops a confidential bomb: the company is building an LRT station at the new HQ site, right where Ro-sa’s restaurant stands. It’s a huge project, and she’s sworn to secrecy—just as the sister switchback looms. Mi-ji is torn between doing her job and doing what feels right.

Things only get messier when she learns Ho-su and Ji-yun are attending a wedding together. Seung-hyeon invites Mi-ji too, and she reluctantly agrees. Ho-su, ever the decent guy, calls her to return a watch she left at his place, giving them a quiet moment to talk. Mi-ji shares the pressure she feels about keeping Ro-sa in the dark. Ho-su warns her to stay quiet—it’s risky, and they both know it.

At the wedding, the drama explodes. Both Mi-ji and Mi-rae are there, and secrets start spilling. Gyeong-gu drags Mi-rae to the venue, dropping the surprise that he’s booked them a hotel room—clearly thinking there’s romance brewing. Mi-rae flips, laying down boundaries hard. She’s unaware that Gyeong-gu is gay, and his sexuality comes out in a moment that’s both awkward and freeing.

Turns out, Mi-ji and Ho-su have known about it since school. A flashback reveals that back then, Seung-hyeon pressured Gyeong-gu into a public love confession to Mi-ji, only to record it and humiliate him. Ho-su didn’t stand for it and took Seung-hyeon down—literally.

At the wedding, Seung-hyeon runs his mouth again, mocking Gyeong-gu and Mi-ji until she walks out. She calls Ho-su, needing to get away, and when Ji-yun tries to stop him, claiming she knows about the twin swap, he shrugs it off. He already knows.

Turns out, that drunken night, Mi-ji used her real name. That, combined with everything else, finally clicked the puzzle into place for Ho-su. He’s always liked Mi-ji—her messy, impulsive, brave self—and now, he knows who she really is.

As they head home, Mi-rae returns to the farm in the pouring rain and finds Se-jin struggling. She invites him inside, and he warns that spending the night will only fan the flames of gossip. But Mi-rae is done running. This, she says, is the only place that feels real. Se-jin admits he likes the rumors—basically dropping the quietest love confession ever. As the rain falls and tension builds, the episode fades out.

Opinion of Our Unwritten Seoul

These episodes had everything—confessions, secrets, mistaken identities, emotional chaos, and yes, even crochet.

Episode 5 finally gave us the heart-to-heart we’ve been waiting for—Ho-su telling Mi-ji she was his first love? Cue emotional meltdown. And then Mi-ji, thinking her whole life derailed over a misunderstanding? Brutal. It hit hard. But the payoff? Worth it.

Then Episode 6 said, “You want clarity?” and gave us more tangled feelings instead. Mi-ji wakes up at Ho-su’s place hungover and mortified, Tae-i’s being a lowkey sweetheart, and Ji-yun is aggressively shooting her shot like she’s the last woman in Seoul. Meanwhile, Mi-rae is spiraling, rumors are flying, and somehow there’s still time for a wedding disaster and a coming-out moment that punched me right in the heart.

Also, shoutout to Ho-su for finally figuring out the twin switch—because Mi-ji drunkenly blurted her real name? Iconic. That man connects dots like a pro.

This show balances emotional depth with messy, lovable chaos so well. At this point, I’m not watching—I’m living in it. Bring on the next round.
