Tastefully Yours- Episodes 5-6
Head-Butts, Old Flames, and a Rooftop Date
Episode 5 of Tastefully Yours is a rollercoaster of emotions — one part rom-com, one part culinary therapy, and a generous drizzle of heartbreak. It kicks off with a kiss, ends with a goodbye, and in between, we get drama, dumplings, and the return of a very complicated ex.
From Romance to Nosebleed (Literally)
Just as Beom-woo plants a kiss on Yeon-joo, Myung-sook and Chun-seung show up. Yeon-joo’s response? She head-butts him. Hard. Cue nosebleed. Cue chaos.
Later, Beom-woo tries to talk to her but she hides behind a wall like this is a high school rom-com. The next day, Myung-sook and Chun-seung turn into full-time gossip machines, teasing the duo about the kiss. Yeon-joo shuts it down fast — it was a mistake. Beom-woo, cornered, agrees. Ouch.
French Guests, French-Speaking Chef, and the Return of Feelings
A French-Korean couple walks into the restaurant — no punchline here, just a reservation request for a very tense family dinner. Beom-woo surprises everyone by speaking French, and it turns out Yeon-joo does too. The woman’s mom hates Korean food; the man’s dad only wants it. Great.
Beom-woo convinces Yeon-joo to take the challenge, and she can’t stop thinking about the woman’s struggle — bridging cultures through food. That night, she runs into a drunk Beom-woo on the street who’s stewing over the “mistake” comment. He begs her for a real date. She says no. He sets one anyway.
A New Rival Enters: Jeon Min
Cut to: Jeon Min, elite chef of Le Murir, raging at airline staff for ruining his dish mid-flight. This man is serious about his food — and about Yeon-joo. He shows up outside her restaurant. She breaks down. We get a flashback of happier times when they worked (and dated) at Le Murir in Japan.
Turns out, she took the fall for a kitchen disaster he caused. She resigned. He stayed. He never called.
Now he wants to talk. She agrees.
A Food Fusion Family Affair
Back at the restaurant, it’s game day. Yeon-joo’s goal: unite two families — one French, one Korean — through food. The first dish flops with the traditionalist Korean dad. But then come the dumplings. And Chun-seung’s homemade makgeolli. Slowly, the tension melts. Dish after dish, Yeon-joo bridges the culinary gap and wins over everyone at the table.
Smiles all around. Beom-woo tries to cash in on their date plan, but Min interrupts. Yeon-joo tells the team to go ahead — she’ll meet Beom-woo later.
Closure, Confessions, and That Rooftop Date
Yeon-joo cooks for Min — a humble meal they used to make from leftovers in France. They talk, finally. He apologizes. She admits what really hurt wasn’t losing her job, it was losing him. He wants her to come back. She’s not so sure.
Later that night, she meets Beom-woo. He’s planned the sweetest surprise — a rooftop movie night with a borrowed projector and twinkling lights. (He even chopped onions for the vegetable seller just to get permission to use the space.)
Yeon-joo falls asleep, Beom-woo drapes a jacket over her. They share quiet moments, coffee, and confessions. She tells him she’s an orphan, left at a hermitage, who found purpose in cooking. She met Min at Le Murir. Now he wants her back — but she says she’s not going.
Or Is She?
The next morning, the crew finds a note: Yeon-joo’s gone to Sapporo, Japan. She wants them to take care of the kitchen. A final shot shows her waiting at a bus stop, reading a message from Min: "The flight’s at 4 PM."
Chef Showdowns, Recipe Schemes, and a Sapporo Surprise
Episode 6 of Tastefully Yours stirs up the emotional pot with old heartbreaks, shady business moves, and a surprise overseas showdown. Things are messy, secrets are simmering, and Beom-woo is officially on edge — and for good reason.
Bon Voyage… or Is It?
Yeon-joo opens the episode by assuring Beom-woo she isn’t running away with Min. But later that night, Min drops the real reason he showed up: their old mentor, Chef Tatsuo, is seriously ill. The next morning, Beom-woo finds a note — Yeon-joo has gone to Sapporo after all. Cue heartbreak.
She leaves behind a handwritten Jungjae Manual with 135 detailed instructions. Sweet? Yes. Helpful? Not really. Without her, the kitchen is falling apart.
Backstabbers and Bad Dreams
As Yeon-joo flies to Japan, she promises not to mention the Diamant disaster that tanked her career. Meanwhile, in Seoul, Beom-woo has a nightmare about Min kissing Yeon-joo (subtle, subconscious).
Just then, Manager Lee Yu-jin shows up, pretending to be a nobody. He chats up Myung-sook and Chun-seung while secretly pressuring Beom-woo to swipe recipes for the reopening of Motto. Beom-woo says he’s done stealing. But in a hilarious fake-out, we see Yu-jin reveal the truth to everyone... only for it to be Beom-woo’s imagination.
Still, Yu-jin is sniffing around for the recipe book — and even calls Young-hye to say he’s close to snagging it. Beom-woo overhears this and flips into crisis mode.
Garage Traps and Phone Calls Gone Wrong
To throw Yu-jin off the scent, Beom-woo teams up with Chun-seung. The plan? Get Yu-jin drunk. Chun-seung plays along, Yu-jin passes out, and they lock him in a garage like some low-budget spy movie.
But Beom-woo’s mood sours again when Yeon-joo calls… and Min answers. Enough is enough — he decides he’s flying to Sapporo, even if he has to beg Chun-seung for travel money (spoiler: it doesn’t go well).
Japan, Memories, and an Emotional Punch
In Sapporo, Yeon-joo sees Chef Tatsuo, now suffering from dementia. When he doesn’t recognize her, she runs out, shaken. Min tells her Tatsuo hasn’t eaten in days — maybe her food could reach him.
They revisit Le Murir, triggering flashbacks of the fateful pufferfish dish. It was Min who ruined it, but Yeon-joo took the blame and walked away in silence. Now, Min wants her back. Not just in the kitchen — in his life.
Cue Beom-woo barging into Japan like a man on a mission. He and Min trade barbs until Yeon-joo pulls Beom-woo away. His excuse for showing up? He missed her. (Cue collective swoon.)
Secret Mergers and Bitter Discoveries
Back in Seoul, Young-hye sneaks into La Lecel’s office and finds a bombshell file — Hansang is merging with Le Murir. And the new head chef replacing her? Min. The plot thickens.
In Japan, the trio visits a seafood market, where they learn Chef Tatsuo ordered sea urchins before his illness. Over dinner, Yeon-joo steps away, and the boys start bickering — again. Min drops a truth bomb: he and Yeon-joo dated for three years, and they were supposed to open a restaurant named Jungjae together.
Later, Young-hye calls Beom-woo and confirms his worst fear: Min is his replacement. Beom-woo is ready to march back in and fight — but then he sees Yeon-joo laughing with Min and quietly walks away.
DramaZen's Opinion
These two episodes? Romantic Perfection — and not just because of the actual kiss.
Episode 5 gave us the emotional whiplash we’ve been waiting for. Beom-woo finally kissed Yeon-joo (!!!) only to get head-butted straight into a nosebleed. Classic. The rooftop date was unexpectedly sweet, and seeing Beom-woo put in actual effort (hello, onion-cutting for projector access!) had me swooning. But then Yeon-joo disappears to Sapporo? Girl, you’re killing me.
And Episode 6? The drama left the kitchen and crossed international waters. The return of Min (aka “The Ex Who Never Called”) stirred up everything. Watching Beom-woo unravel, fight his jealous little heart, and still chase after her? Peak chaos. Also, locking a recipe thief in a garage while fake-drinking him under the table? Gold.
Yeon-joo’s past is finally coming to the surface, and it hurts. That moment with Chef Tatsuo broke me. Now with Hansang and Le Murir secretly merging and Min gunning for her and the restaurant, things are getting real. The food’s great, but the emotional stakes? Even better.
I'm stressed. I'm hooked. I need Episode 7 now.
