Spring of Youth- Episodes 3-4
Accidental Kisses, Campfire Confessions, and That Rooftop Moment ππ
Episode 3 opens right where we left off—Sa Gye, tipsy and emotional, wraps Kim Bom in a hug, calling her "my Bom Bom" (we're still recovering). Tae-yang catches them, gets jealous, and literally throws Sa Gye off her. But turns out Sa Gye’s already passed out, so guess who ends up carrying him? Yep. Tae-yang, grumbling all the way.
Next morning? Sa Gye’s got amnesia (classic). Tae-yang’s not having it and warns him to stay away from Bom. Does Sa Gye listen? LOL. Of course not.
He storms off, confronts Kang Seok-hee (a.k.a. resident shady spy guy), and gets threatened—stay away from Bom or she’ll get hurt. So naturally, Sa Gye goes straight to Bom, follows her to class, and naps through it. Romantic? Maybe. Creepy? Definitely. π
Meanwhile, the drama just leveled up—CEO Jo Sang-heon meets with Tae-yang’s dad, Seo Min-chul, and we finally get the full story of that car crash from six years ago. Spoiler: both men were drunk, caused a fatal accident, and left Bom’s mom to die. Yikes doesn’t even cover it.
Back at school, Sa Gye brings good news: the band made it into the school festival! But celebration turns into chaos as he and Tae-yang start fighting over who should lead the band. Bom, exhausted, drags them on a spontaneous healing trip (translation: “Can y’all stop fighting for five seconds?”).
They head to the countryside, and Ji-na joins them (girl’s definitely got a side plot brewing π). More tension, more stalking from Sa Gye, and... BOM FALLS INTO A RIVER. Tae-yang goes full hero mode and saves her, while Sa Gye bonks his head mid-rescue attempt, cueing another round of mysterious flashbacks.
Just when things can't get messier, Sa Gye launches himself toward Bom and Tae-yang and accidentally kisses Tae-yang. We screamed. They screamed. Everyone screamed.
Post-kiss chaos aside, Bom fakes being sick (plot twist: she's a great swimmer) to guilt the boys into getting along. She names herself band leader, hands Tae-yang the song choice, and gives Sa Gye the guitarist role. Peace restored... kinda.
That night, Ji-na snoops through Bom’s songbook (girl, we see you π), while back in Seoul, Tae-yang’s dad decides to take matters into his own hands. He tries to send Bom away with a scholarship and guilt-trips her into cutting off Tae-yang. Seriously, can this guy chill?
Bom, ever the queen, tells Tae-yang to go back home, thinking it's best for him. He listens... but things get dark fast. A failed surgery, traumatic flashbacks, and a painful confrontation lead Tae-yang to the brink—until Sa Gye shows up just in time to stop him from hurting himself.
Sa Gye lays it out: this isn't about Bom or his dad—Tae-yang needs to live for himself.
By the time band practice rolls around, Tae-yang’s back, everyone’s focused, and Bom’s stepping up as a fierce, take-no-nonsense leader. We love this character development for her.
Then, the episode hits us with a final scene that lives rent-free in our minds: Bom falls asleep in the band room. Sa Gye stays behind. They’re locked in the university at 3 a.m. It’s quiet. It’s dark. It’s vibey. Bom brings up the drunk hug. Sa Gye straight-up says, “I hugged you because I like you.” We’re DONE.
Lights go out. Bom, scared of the dark, clings to Sa Gye. Under the moonlight, she confesses she wants to manage him—bring him back to the stage, back to himself. He jokes she has to pay him first. She says, “Sign first.”
He does.
And then…
π THEY KISS. π
Sabotage, Secrets, and That Jaw-Dropping Revelation! π₯π
Whew. Spring of Youth Episode 4 came in hot, and honestly? We’re still emotionally winded. Let’s break it down because SO. MUCH. HAPPENED.
We kick off with Tae-yang defying Daddy Dearest (aka Dr. Doom) and bolting from home to perform at the school festival. But plot twist—his dad calls CEO Jo Sang-heon, who’s already plotting behind the scenes. Surprise surprise.
At Hanju, the band’s hyped and ready to rock… until fake “fans” show up and completely trash the venue. Performance? Cancelled. Mood? Ruined. Suspicious? You bet. Gyu-ri clocks the fakes immediately, and Sa Gye is certain this has Sang-heon’s fingerprints all over it.
Then panic sets in—Bom’s missing. Sa Gye confronts Sang-heon, who pulls the whole “I don’t know anything” act (we do not believe him). Thankfully, Sa Gye finds Bom, who says she saw men drag Tae-yang off.
Turns out, Tae-yang’s been locked in a VIP hospital room by his own father. Sa Gye pulls a power move, using a donation to get access. While Seo Min-cheol is distracted by a PR mess (that the gang deliciously orchestrated), the crew sneaks Tae-yang out and swaps him with a new patient. Iconic.
But Tae-yang, sweet baby angel that he is, says he’s quitting the band to protect them. NOPE. Not on Bom’s watch. They rally him back, and just like that, the gang has their street debut—with Bom leading the charge. Honestly, goosebumps.
Sang-heon retaliates with a nasty post claiming Sa Gye disrespects his fans. Chaos erupts. Angry fans trash Ja-young’s house, and Sa Gye has to literally leap across rooftops to escape. Parkour + trauma = K-drama gold.
Meanwhile at J&J, Ji-na’s got her own scandal—The Crown’s new track may have a plagiarized chorus. Desperate, she swipes Bom’s melody (remember that notebook?) and merges it into the new song. Uh-oh.
Back at school, their band room is wrecked. Even worse, they’ve been suspended thanks to a complaint from rival band Hanju. Tae-yang isn’t having it. He leads the charge to confront them, and it turns into a full-blown fight. Punches fly, and the principal forces the gang to apologize publicly.
Later, Tae-yang finally moves out for good. Meanwhile, Ja-young enlists Sa Gye as her reluctant new house helper (karma for the fan fiasco). On his way out, he finds a postcard from his mom—living her best life abroad. Cool for her. Not great timing for his emotional spiral.
He visits Bom at work, asking her out. She hesitates—cue the mean girls from her American past. They mock her for “falling from grace,” but Sa Gye shuts them down like a boss. That earns him a yes.
Their date? Flops (no bagels left!) but ends beautifully when a fan gives Sa Gye her bagel, thanking him for his music. He almost cries. We almost cried. It's fine.
Later that night, under a glowing moon, Bom plays him her melody and asks him to sing it. He confesses: he’s dreamed of this song for years. Fate? Destiny? YES. They share a kiss... right as Tae-yang watches from the shadows. Cue heartbreak.
The next day, Bom invites Sa Gye to visit her mother’s grave. She reveals that her mother was brain-dead after the accident, and she made the choice to donate her organs. This hits Sa Gye hard—like headache, vision-blurring, puzzle-pieces-clicking hard.
He confronts Ja-young and confirms the truth: Bom’s mom died during a typhoon. Her eyes were donated. The same hospital where Sa Gye had his transplant. π±
And it clicks—Sa Gye’s eyes came from Bom’s mom. The melody. The dream. The hug. The name “Bom Bom.” It allmakes sense now.
Remember that chaotic party in Episode 1? He did accuse Sang-heon of something. And now, he knows exactly what.
Meanwhile, Bom’s waiting for Sa Gye to show up. A nearby car crash brings back a memory—being on the phone with her mom when the accident happened. She can’t reach Sa Gye, and panic rises. She calls Tae-yang for help… and then collapses.
And that’s how Episode 4 ends. On a cliffhanger that has us clutching our chests like we’re in a Victorian novel.
DramaZen's Opinion
Episodes 3 and 4 of Spring of Youth had us screaming, crying, and smashing the replay button. The drama is leveling up fast—and we are living for it!
First off, Sa Gye and Tae-yang’s love-hate bro tension? Off the charts. Between river rescues, accidental kisses (yes, THAT happened), and band leader drama, we can’t decide if they need therapy or just a nap. π
And then there’s Bom—strong, clever, and quietly pulling all the strings to keep this messy boy band from imploding. We LOVE her sneaky “fake cold” to stop their fighting. Queen behavior. π
The rooftop confession scene? Literal chills. Sa Gye saying “I hugged you because I like you” and then that kiss in the moonlight? Swoon city. ππ
But Episode 4 took us from cute to full-on conspiracy. Hospital drama, shady CEOs, fake fans, sabotage, stolen songs… and the massive reveal that Sa Gye may have gotten Bom’s mom’s donated eyes?! We are NOT okay.
Emotional depth, unexpected twists, and chaotic band shenanigans—Spring of Youth is giving us everything. Bring on Episode 5, because this band is just getting started! πΈπ₯
