The Witch- (Final) Episodes 9-10
Secrets, Spells, and a Second Witch?
The Witch is back with another spine-tingling episode, and Episode 9 is all about unraveling the aftermath of Dong-jin’s vanishing act—and possibly uncovering a second “witch.” Buckle up, because this episode dives deep into heartbreak, mystery, and one very unexpected twist.
We pick up right where we left off, with Mi-jeong watching the videos Dong-jin left behind. Among them is a touching clip of her childhood home, now quiet and overgrown, along with a video confession from a former friend—the one who started the rumors that ruined Mi-jeong’s life. She apologizes sincerely, and it’s clear the video hits Mi-jeong hard.
For the first time, Mi-jeong isn’t being hunted or pitied—she’s being understood.
Meanwhile, we shift to Detective Jung-hyeok, who is in full action mode, chasing down the stalker responsible for the recent attack on a woman he promised to protect. But when he finally catches the guy, emotions boil over—Jung-hyeok loses control and beats the suspect.
That moment of fury comes at a cost: he gets transferred.
A few days later, Eun-sil pays Jung-hyeok a visit, delivering the news that Dong-jin has gone completely off the radar. No calls. No messages. Not even a sign of life.
Alarmed, Jung-hyeok begins his own investigation. He visits Dong-jin’s apartment, finding clues tucked away in plain sight—Mi-jeong’s name highlighted in books she’d translated, and subtle references only someone obsessed would notice.
He and Eun-sil head to Dong-jin’s tiny rented room, and it’s there the full picture clicks into place: Dong-jin had been watching Mi-jeong all along.
Among the clutter and notes, they spot a cryptic glow-in-the-dark message on the windowsill:
“Shine on you.”
And just like that, the trail gets warmer.
Using Dong-jin’s old student ID as a password (because of course it is), Jung-hyeok logs into Dong-jin’s private blog. What he finds is a rabbit hole of data—graphs, theories, tracking logs, and detailed breakdowns of Mi-jeong’s supposed “curse.”
As Eun-sil drifts off to sleep, Jung-hyeok stays up late, reading post after post. Dong-jin wasn’t just fascinated by Mi-jeong—he was consumed.
Then, in the dead of night, an alarm rings from a hidden phone beneath the desk.
It’s 2:30 AM—Mi-jeong’s usual walking hour.
Jung-hyeok follows her quietly through the night streets and, finally, breaks the silence.
“I believe you’re a witch,” he tells her, “more than anyone else ever has.”
But the true mic drop moment comes back at the apartment.
While Jung-hyeok is out, Eun-sil makes a discovery of her own—a report Dong-jin had compiled not on Mi-jeong, but on Jung-hyeok.
In it, Dong-jin details how Jung-hyeok had unknowingly broken every single “rule of death”—and yet? He walked away unscathed.
Just like Mi-jeong.
That’s when it hits:
Jung-hyeok might be Mi-jeong’s male counterpart.
He might be a witch too.
In the episode’s final moments, Eun-sil steps outside—and spots Dong-jin across the street, standing still.
He’s exactly 10 meters away.
Just enough distance to keep fate at bay… for now.
Love, Data, and the Final Variable
The season finale of The Witch lands like a thunderclap—equal parts heart-pounding and heartwarming—as it ties together fate, fear, and a love that dared to defy death itself. Episode 10 is where Dong-jin’s obsession meets its conclusion, and everyone involved is left to confront the emotional wreckage—and possibility—he’s left behind.
We open with Jung-hyeok reconnecting with the victim from the stalker case. It turns out Dong-jin had approached her before, trying to explain his theory that Jung-hyeok might also be a “witch.”
Her response? Don’t worry—I never liked Dong-jin anyway.
(Guess crushes really are deadly in this show.)
Finally, Jung-hyeok meets with Mi-jeong and gives her the college report Dong-jin wrote about her—something he’d intended to deliver a decade ago. But that’s not all. He also shows her the massive trove of data Dong-jin compiled—and not just about her.
Turns out, Dong-jin had been researching Jung-hyeok too.
Why? Because Jung-hyeok was the only other person who broke all the “rules of death”… and lived.
Jung-hyeok reflects on Dong-jin’s obsession, finally realizing that it wasn’t just about Mi-jeong. It was about love—and about protecting both of them.
The next day, Eun-sil asks for updates, and Jung-hyeok meets her—but exactly 10 meters away, like some unspoken safety buffer.
He carefully dances around his feelings, hinting that he likes her. Eun-sil, still cautious, doesn’t admit her feelings aloud, but their dynamic crackles with emotional tension.
Then Jung-hyeok shares his past—how he had kept people at a distance, afraid that anyone close to him would get hurt. Sound familiar? It’s the same pattern Mi-jeong lived through.
And that’s when it hits: Dong-jin wasn’t just solving a curse. He was building a roadmap—for all of them.
Plot twist! Dong-jin’s in Austria. And guess who follows him? That’s right—Mi-jeong.
They sit together as a storm rolls in, tension thick in the air. And finally, Dong-jin confesses his love.
But Mi-jeong isn’t just sitting back anymore. She’s done her homework—literally. After studying his data, she realizes something huge:
The danger didn’t happen when people were close to her…
It happened when they left her.
Then, for the first time, she says the words that change everything:
“I love you too. Stay with me.”
As the storm calms around them, so does the curse—or maybe it never existed the way they thought it did.
Back in Korea, Eun-sil pushes Jung-hyeok for honesty. She closes the distance between them—emotionally andphysically—despite the supposed risk. Then she boards a bus, leaving Jung-hyeok behind, visibly rattled.
Just as panic sets in, Jung-hyeok gets a message from Dong-jin:
“Don’t leave her alone.”
The final piece of the puzzle. The last variable.
Jung-hyeok runs after the bus, chasing it through the streets until the driver finally stops. He and Eun-sil reunite, and in that moment, he embraces not just her—but the possibility of love despite fear.
Back in Austria, Dong-jin and Mi-jeong begin a new life together—no more measuring tape, no more cursed rules, just two people who finally chose to stay.
DramaZen's Opinion
A Beautiful, Bittersweet Ending
Episodes 9 and 10 of The Witch were a gorgeous blend of mystery, emotion, and closure that left me both heartbroken and hopeful. As Dong-jin's disappearance pulls Jung-hyeok and Eun-sil deeper into his investigation, we get to see just how much Dong-jin's journey wasn’t just about Mi-jeong—it was about understanding love, fear, and human connection.
The reveal that Jung-hyeok might be a “male witch” was such a clever twist, and it added a whole new layer to Dong-jin’s data-driven obsession. I loved watching Mi-jeong finally see the depth of Dong-jin’s feelings through his meticulous notes—and even more, how she turned the whole theory on its head by realizing the curse wasn’t proximity, but abandonment. That was such a powerful moment.
And that ending? Absolutely perfect. Mi-jeong choosing to stay. Dong-jin choosing to live. Jung-hyeok racing after the bus to protect Eun-sil. It all tied back to one simple but profound truth: we survive when we stop running from each other.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) – Emotional, thought-provoking, and the perfect way to end this hauntingly beautiful drama. I’m going to miss this one.
