What Comes After Love- (Final) Episode 6
Episode 6 begins with an emotional twist as Jungo and Kanna share a bittersweet moment at the hotel bar. Kanna acknowledges she can’t control love, and they share a laugh—just as Hong walks in with a bouquet of flowers. The scene crackles with tension as Kanna, despite her own feelings, tells Jungo that Hong left. He runs after her, but it’s too late.
Frustrated, Hong drives away, longing to thank Jungo for his love and let go of their mutual regrets. Jungo is left reflecting on their relationship—how they were once so close, yet he failed to understand her loneliness. The next day, at Kanna’s urging, Jungo resolves to be honest with Hong about his feelings.
At work, Hong avoids Jungo’s final interview, but he surprises everyone by stopping by the office. Expecting to see her, he finds only her empty desk. Leaving his blue keychain beside hers, he completes the pair they once shared. Later, when Hong returns and sees it, the gesture stirs something deep within her.
During the interview, Jungo is asked what “what comes after love” means. His poignant reply—that it’s the understanding of what love truly is, a sad irony—resonates powerfully. Meanwhile, Hong finishes reading his book, reliving their memories in flashes of joy and heartbreak. We see Jungo’s own struggle as he wrote the book, pouring his regrets and love into its pages.
Later, Hong calls Jungo, thanking him for the keychain. He seizes the chance to explain that nothing is happening between him and Kanna and asks to meet. At their reunion, Hong lies about accepting Min-jun’s proposal but finally asks the questions haunting her: why didn’t he stop her from leaving? Why did he leave her alone when she needed him most? Jungo admits his failure to take her loneliness seriously and expresses deep regret.
In an emotional parting, Hong thanks him for immortalizing their love in his book and promises she’ll be happy. Jungo, in turn, wishes her well. The moment is shattering as Hong leaves, only to cry in her car, weighed down by lingering emotions.
A flashback to Ms. Shizuko’s advice adds depth to the episode: love, no matter its duration, is always meaningful. This wisdom echoes as Hong and Jungo’s story unfolds in the present.
As Jungo checks out of his hotel, he receives Hong’s flowers and a simple but heartfelt message: “Sorry for earlier. Happy birthday.” The scene shifts to Hong, who wakes up refreshed and suggests a movie outing with her family before heading out for a run around the lake.
In a breathtaking twist, Jungo joins her mid-run. Their reunion is tender and cathartic. Jungo reveals he kept running after their breakup because he missed her and eventually understood her loneliness. Hong admits she regretted not understanding him better. Apologies flow, and as snow begins to fall, they hold hands, their smiles hinting at a fresh start.
The episode ends with a hopeful, beautiful scene: Hong and Jungo running together under cherry blossoms, a visual representation of healing and new beginnings. It’s a stunning conclusion to a story of love, loss, and rediscovery, leaving fans with full hearts and teary eyes.
DramaZen's Opinion
Episode 6 of What Comes After Love was absolutely magical and the perfect ending to this emotional rollercoaster of a series. Seeing Jungo run after Hong with all his emotions laid bare was heartbreaking and beautiful, even though she drove away before he could reach her. His regret, her lingering feelings—it all felt so real and raw.
The moment when Hong found the keychain on her desk gave me chills. It was such a simple gesture, but it carried all the weight of their shared past. And Jungo’s answer during the interview about understanding love after it’s gone? That hit me right in the feels.
But the best part was their final reunion. When Jungo joined Hong on her run, I was screaming. It was so tender and full of hope. Their heartfelt apologies and the way they finally understood each other’s pain after all these years made the moment so cathartic. And the snowfall? Pure drama perfection.
The cherry blossom scene at the end was everything. It felt like closure and a new beginning all at once, and I couldn’t stop smiling (and crying). This episode wrapped up their story beautifully, and I’m going to be thinking about Hong and Jungo for a long time. What a masterpiece! 💕🌸
