A Thrilling Mission, A High School Disguise, and A Mysterious Treasure Hunt

Welcome to the adrenaline-fueled world of Undercover High School! Episode 1 wastes no time plunging us into the action, introducing us to our daring protagonist, Jeong Hae-seong, a top-tier agent who suddenly finds himself swapping covert operations for high school corridors. Buckle up—this episode delivers high-speed chases, undercover intrigue, and unexpected hilarity!

The episode kicks off with Hae-seong narrating how he got into this absurd situation. It all begins with a high-stakes sting operation where a Korean smuggler is selling a golden statue to a Chinese buyer. Hae-seong, stationed in a hidden vantage point, watches the deal unfold, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

When the chaos erupts, the smuggler makes a break for it—with the golden statue in hand. What follows is a breathtaking chase: first on foot, then on a motorcycle, and finally culminating in a fight inside a speeding car. Hae-seong, defying direct orders to wait for backup, takes matters into his own hands. The brawl inside the vehicle ends with the car flipping over and exploding—but of course, our action hero emerges unscathed, statue and smuggler in tow.

Back at the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Hae-seong’s team examines the statue, only to discover—oops!—its arm is missing. Turns out, Hae-seong’s bullet ricocheted and shattered it. Director Kim is furious and wants Hae-seong fired, but team leader An Seok-ho argues that losing their best agent is out of the question. Instead, he strikes a deal: Hae-seong keeps his job, but there’s a new mission on the table.

Enter Byeongmun High School, a prestigious yet enigmatic institution. According to intel, its founder, Seo Byeong-mun, was entrusted with a fortune in gold bars during the Japanese occupation—intended for Korea’s independence efforts. But instead of using the money for the cause, he hoarded it. Now, rumor has it that the gold is still hidden within the school grounds, and it’s about to be moved. The NIS had previously raided the Byeongmun Foundation but overlooked the school itself. Hae-seong’s mission? Go undercover as a student, blend in, and uncover the hidden gold.

There’s just one tiny problem—Hae-seong has zero desire to relive his high school days.

Meanwhile, at Byeongmun High, we get a hilarious interlude where the school staff, including Teacher Oh Su-a, celebrate Vice Principal Baek’s birthday at a karaoke bar. In a drunken stupor, Su-a accidentally pulls off Baek’s wig, leading to one of the funniest moments in the episode.

Back at a restaurant, Hae-seong mulls over his options while his team drowns their sorrows over his potential departure. Just then, a group of thugs starts harassing the restaurant owner—who happens to be Su-a’s mother. Su-a bravely steps in, but things escalate quickly. That’s when Hae-seong steps up, easily taking down the troublemakers. Su-a and her mother are beyond grateful, but Su-a has no idea she’ll be seeing Hae-seong again—very soon.

After some soul-searching and a flashback to his own painful school days as an orphan bullied by classmates, Hae-seong reluctantly agrees to the mission. His team preps him with high school slang and a fake identity, and he learns about Byeongmun’s rigid social hierarchy. Adding another twist—Seok-ho’s daughter, Yoo-jung, is also a student there. She’s less than thrilled when she finds out.

Hae-seong arrives at school in his crisp new uniform, ready to blend in. Su-a immediately recognizes him from the restaurant and is suspicious, but he manages to dodge trouble—for now. Meanwhile, social queen Ye-na tries to recruit Yoo-jung for an upcoming exchange program in France.

When Su-a introduces the new transfer student to the class, Hae-seong takes a seat next to Lee Dong-min, a timid student frequently targeted by bullies. After class, Yoo-jung confronts Hae-seong on the rooftop, demanding that he not reveal anything about her school life to her parents.

As he explores the school, Hae-seong stumbles upon a Keep Out sign near an old, abandoned building. His instincts tell him something is off—especially when he notices suspiciously high electricity readings from inside. Before he can investigate further, he gets caught in a tense encounter with school bullies harassing Dong-min. He’s about to put them in their place when a mental image of Seok-ho warns him to stay low-key. Begrudgingly, he backs down.

Elsewhere, we meet Seo Myeong-ju, a powerful figure in the Byeongmun Foundation. At the funeral of a man who supposedly committed suicide, she reassures his widow that their son will be taken care of. However, whispers suggest she had a long-standing rivalry with the deceased.

Back at home, Hae-seong reports his suspicions about the old building to Seok-ho. Something about it doesn’t add up. That night, unable to shake the feeling, he sneaks into the school under cover of darkness. Using a device to disable the security cameras, he expertly picks the lock and enters the forbidden building.

But he’s not alone.

As the episode reaches its nail-biting climax, someone sneaks up behind Hae-seong—gun drawn.

A Ghost Story, a Hidden Corpse, and a High-Stakes Game of Secrets

The tension skyrockets in Undercover High School Episode 2 as Hae-seong inches closer to uncovering the secrets of Byeongmun High. From sneaky midnight explorations to ghost stories that turn out to be all too real, this episode delivers thrills, chills, and some unexpected alliances. Let’s dive in!

The episode picks up right where we left off—with Hae-seong poking around the eerie old building on campus. But just as he thinks he’s onto something, he’s caught at gunpoint! Turns out, it’s none other than Oh Su-a, patrolling the area and wielding…a tear gas gun? Hae-seong, ever the quick thinker, dodges her and makes a hasty escape, leaving Su-a baffled.

Later, Hae-seong debriefs Seok-ho about his close call, while Su-a relays her version of the event to her mother. And guess what? Their houses are right next to each other! Let the awkward run-ins begin.

Back at school, Hae-seong faces his next bizarre challenge—finishing a video game. The school bullies, led by Park Tae-soo, shove a phone at him and order him to get to the final level. Meanwhile, Yoo-jung warns him to stay far, far away from Tae-soo. Clearly, there’s more to this guy than meets the eye.

Elsewhere, Vice Principal Baek is fuming at Su-a for letting the ‘intruder’ escape, and Seo Myeong-ju is getting wind of the security breach. Her right-hand man, Principal Park Jae-moon, informs her that a video jammer was used to disable CCTV footage. Myeong-ju, always a step ahead, decides to let the intruder return—so she can catch them red-handed.

Even the teachers are gossiping about the mysterious old building. Su-a’s colleague Min-ji shares a spine-chilling legend about a ballet studio in the basement. And just as Su-a tries to process this, she accidentally spills her drink on Vice Principal Baek. If looks could kill…

During class, Su-a notices that Dong-min is missing. Tae-soo claims he’s sick, but Hae-seong isn’t buying it. Later, he spots Principal Jae-moon sneaking into the old building. Before he can investigate, a security guard intervenes, grumbling about how ‘the owners’ are strangely obsessed with the place.

As if things weren’t weird enough, Hae-seong hears rustling from a dustbin. Inside? A tied-up Dong-min! The poor kid begs him not to tell the teachers, fearing it’ll only make things worse. Before they can make a plan, Su-a arrives and drags Hae-seong into her office, suspicious that he might be bullying Dong-min. When she tries to get a closer look at his eyes (thinking they resemble the intruder’s), Hae-seong dodges—sending Su-a tumbling in a hilarious moment of accidental chaos.

Meanwhile, at the NIS, Seok-ho and his team stumble upon a news report about Seo Myeong-ju’s upcoming Edu-City Project, which coincidentally costs…800 million—the exact value of the missing gold bars. Coincidence? Not likely.

Over at the student council meeting, tensions flare as Yoo-jung stands up to Tae-soo for his treatment of Dong-min. But the real power player here is Ye-na, Myeong-ju’s daughter, who coolly reminds Tae-soo that his father’s position as an assemblyman depends on Myeong-ju’s favor. He backs off, but later, Ye-na warns Yoo-jung to never challenge authority so openly again.

Myeong-ju, ever the strategist, instructs Principal Jae-moon to introduce an even more elite class with extra privileges. When he protests that people are already unhappy with the school’s class divide, she coldly tells him to widen the gap—ensuring that the students remain too busy competing with each other to notice the corruption at play.

During lunch, Dong-min shares an eerie tale about the old ballet studio. According to legend, a bullied ballet student lost her ability to dance after an accident. Overcome with despair, she took her own life, and her classmates—terrified of the scandal—hid her body. Ever since, her ghost is said to haunt the basement.

To prove it, Dong-min pulls out a video clip of a shadowy figure lurking in the abandoned studio. But Hae-seong notices something far more intriguing—a digital lock on one of the doors. Before they can analyze further, Tae-soo and his gang swoop in and start tormenting Dong-min again. This time, Hae-seong has had enough. He steps in, and when Tae-soo picks a fight, Hae-seong wipes the floor with him.

Su-a arrives just in time to break it up and drags both boys to the counseling office. The vice principal, predictably, lets Tae-soo off the hook, leaving Su-a to interrogate Hae-seong alone. He throws a curveball her way, asking if she actually cares about her students or if she’s just choosing to ignore Tae-soo’s actions. The question rattles her more than she’d like to admit.

That night, Su-a drowns her frustrations at her mother’s diner once again, while over at the NIS, Director Kim isn’t happy. He storms in with security footage of Hae-seong punching Tae-soo, demanding answers.

Meanwhile, Tae-soo’s got problems of his own. A shady older man reminds him of his debt, suggesting that if he doesn’t have the cash, he can ‘pay’ with stolen ID cards instead. Later, Tae-soo sneaks into Dong-min’s house and tricks his grandmother into handing over her ID.

Back at school, Hae-seong sneaks into the old building again, only to be followed by an overenthusiastic Dong-min, who assumes they’re testing the ghost story. Inside, they hear strange noises from the ballet studio and spot a shadowy figure hammering something into the floor. When the figure notices them, he bolts, vanishing into the darkness.

Hae-seong, ever the pro, breaks into the locked room using a device Seok-ho gave him. Inside, he finds walls covered in documents, maps, and notes—evidence that Myeong-ju herself is also hunting for the missing gold. But before he can fully process it, Dong-min makes a horrific discovery.

Under the floorboard the shadowy figure had been hammering? A corpse.

And if that weren’t enough, Myeong-ju is watching everything—Hae-seong’s every move, every discovery—through a hidden camera in the room.

DramaZen's Opinion

Opinion of Undercover High School (2025)

Wow—Undercover High School is off to an explosive start! The first two episodes have already hooked me with their perfect mix of action, humor, and mystery. Jeong Hae-seong is the ultimate cool yet reluctant undercover agent, and seeing him navigate the treacherous world of high school is both thrilling and hilarious.

Episode 1 set the stage brilliantly with that high-speed chase, an undercover mission gone wrong (or right?), and the jaw-dropping reveal that Hae-seong has to go back to school. His dynamic with Oh Su-a, the sharp yet unlucky teacher, is already a highlight—I love their accidental run-ins and hilarious tension. Meanwhile, the mystery of Byeongmun High’s hidden gold adds a compelling layer, making this more than just another undercover cop drama.

Episode 2 took things up a notch with eerie ghost stories, school politics, and the shocking discovery of a dead body. The school hierarchy is brutal, with bullies like Tae-soo and the power plays from Ye-na and Seo Myeong-ju keeping the stakes high. And that final scene? Myeong-ju watching Hae-seong through a hidden camera? Chills!

I’m loving the fast-paced storytelling, the witty banter, and the balance between comedy and suspense. Hae-seong’s secret mission is already proving to be way more dangerous than expected, and I can’t wait to see how he untangles this web of corruption while surviving high school life. Bring on Episode 3!
