Who Is She- Episodes 7-8
Family Drama, Romantic Tensions, and a Shocking Revelation
Episodes 7 and 8 of Who Is She crank up the emotional stakes as Doo-ri juggles a growing love triangle, family upheaval, and the bombshell revelation of her sister’s identity. With plenty of drama, heartfelt moments, and a dash of humor, these episodes set the stage for some game-changing developments.
We finally get the identity of the enigmatic woman shadowing Mal-soon: she’s Kkeut-soon, Mal-soon’s estranged sister who moved to the U.S. as a child. Their relationship has been rocky ever since, with Mal-soon resenting her sister for leaving—and for the family circumstances that allowed it. Now, Kkeut-soon has returned, determined to give Mal-soon (in her younger form as Doo-ri) a chance to enjoy life while she steps in as the family matriarch.
While her intentions seem noble, Kkeut-soon’s efforts to mend the fractured family dynamics are met with mixed results. Living as Mal-soon, she tries to connect with Ji-sook, but the tensions between mother and daughter are harder to bridge than she anticipated. When Ji-sook declares at a family dinner that she’s moving out with her husband and daughter, she delivers a gut-punch of a line: “Just because we live together doesn’t mean we’re a family.” The harsh words leave Doo-ri heartbroken, but Kkeut-soon recognizes the pain behind Ji-sook’s outburst and pushes both Ji-sook and Doo-ri to face their emotions honestly.
Last week’s cliffhanger introduced us to Park Jun, the youthful version of Mr. Park. As Mal-soon’s lifelong friend—and unrequited love—Jun’s transformation adds a new layer of complexity to the story. Now staying at the guesthouse he secretly owns, Jun finds himself in close proximity to Doo-ri and Daniel, setting up a hilariously tense dynamic. Daniel, already suspicious of Doo-ri’s connection to Jun, spirals into jealousy when Jun shows up and immediately strikes a chord with her.
Jun, meanwhile, pens a heartfelt letter to Mal-soon, confessing that he’s loved her for over 50 years but never had the courage to act on it. However, he’s hesitant to share his feelings, especially as Doo-ri seems to grow closer to Daniel.
Daniel and Doo-ri’s relationship takes a more romantic turn this week. Despite his initial doubts about her, Daniel defends Doo-ri when Ae-shim accuses her of being a fraud, even going so far as to threaten his own resignation if she’s removed from the group. Their growing bond is punctuated by playful moments, like Daniel serenading her with his “tranquilizing” voice and their banter over protecting each other from Daniel’s stalker.
Doo-ri, while trying to keep her feelings in check, can’t help but soften toward Daniel. Their flirtatious chemistry is undeniable, and Daniel’s heartfelt support earns him major points in her eyes. But with Jun writing love letters in the background, the love triangle is officially in full swing.
Ae-shim’s suspicion of Doo-ri reaches new heights, and she begins digging into her past. When she discovers that Doo-ri’s identity is entirely fabricated, she confronts her at the guesthouse. Accusing her of being a potential scandal waiting to happen, Ae-shim demands that Doo-ri leave the company. Daniel, however, steps in to defend her, insisting that Doo-ri’s character proves she’s not a threat. His ultimatum—“If she goes, I go”—forces Ae-shim to back down, at least for now.
Meanwhile, Ji-sook’s secret hospital visits come to light. Min-seok discovers that Ji-sook’s father, whom Mal-soon hid from her for decades, is on his deathbed. The revelation adds another layer of tension to the already strained family relationships. Ji-sook’s conflicting emotions about her father, her mother, and her own role in the family are palpable, making her one of the most complex and relatable characters in the show.
DramaZen's Opinion
Episodes 7 and 8 of Who Is She had everything I love about this drama—heartfelt family moments, romantic tension that keeps you on edge, and twists that deepen the story. The reveal of Kkeut-soon as Mal-soon’s estranged sister was a surprise that added so much emotional weight to the family dynamic. Watching Kkeut-soon step into Mal-soon’s role while trying to mend the strained mother-daughter relationship was equal parts touching and heartbreaking.
On the romantic front, the love triangle between Doo-ri, Daniel, and Park Jun is heating up in the best way. Daniel’s growing feelings for Doo-ri are sweet and flirty, but Jun’s heartfelt confession of his decades-long love for Mal-soon is enough to break your heart. The tension between the two men is palpable, and watching them circle each other (and Doo-ri) is both entertaining and nerve-wracking.
The drama didn’t hold back on emotional punches either. Ji-sook’s declaration that her family isn’t truly a family and the reveal of her secret hospital visits added so much depth to her character. It’s clear that her pain runs deep, and I’m rooting for some healing between her and Mal-soon before it’s too late.
Overall, these episodes had a perfect mix of drama, romance, and intrigue. With Ae-shim digging into Doo-ri’s mysterious identity and the looming question of how long Mal-soon’s second chance will last, I can’t wait to see what’s next. This show just keeps getting better!
