You Are My Lover Friend- Episodes 25-28
Episode 25 Recap: A Birthday Surprise, a Blossoming Romance, and the Arrival of a Mysterious Admirer
Tang Yang left for a business trip and training, settling into her hotel room and messaging Jiang Shiyan to let him know she’d arrived safely. In return, he sent her a photo of his jam-packed schedule, playfully expressing his jealousy—wishing he could transform into her suitcase or even her bed, anything to be close to her. It was a sweet moment, showing Jiang Shiyan in a light far from his typical CEO demeanor, and he reminded her that just because he was often authoritative didn’t mean he wasn’t a caring boyfriend.
Tang Yang had been keeping track of Jiang Shiyan’s plans, knowing he was scheduled to be in Beijing that Wednesday. But on Tuesday, he surprised her by announcing a change in plans: he was flying to her city to celebrate her birthday. She could hardly believe it, especially since bad weather had grounded flights. Still, he urged her to book a movie ticket for them to share from afar, just in case he couldn’t make it. His assistant confirmed the flight cancellations, but undeterred, Jiang Shiyan decided to drive the entire way.
Just as the movie started, he arrived. Tang Yang, still worried about the weather, looked up in shock to see him standing there in the theater! She was completely floored by his effort, and the two shared a quiet, touching moment. After the movie, she found him fast asleep from exhaustion, and with a smile, she lovingly tapped his nose in a little “ding-ding.”
As they left the theater, Jiang Shiyan suggested a walk. To her surprise, they entered a nearby park, where suddenly the lights flickered on, revealing candles, flowers, and romantic decorations he had secretly prepared. Tang Yang was stunned, realizing how deeply he cared. She’d always thought of him as her best friend, her steady companion, but tonight, it was clear he had always been by her side, offering a silent, unwavering love.
While they enjoyed this new chapter in their relationship, Zhou Mo was dealing with his own bittersweet memories. He visited a cemetery, bringing flowers to honor Xu Shanshan, the only girl he had ever truly loved. Having lost both his parents young and then Shanshan soon after, Zhou Mo’s stoic exterior hid a profound loneliness that few could see.
After celebrating her birthday, Jiang Shiyan took Tang Yang home, looking forward to a quiet evening together. But fate had other plans: one of her colleagues had fallen ill, and she had to take on extra work unexpectedly. Patient as always, Jiang Shiyan stayed by her side as she worked late into the night. Finally, when the tasks were done, they shared a passionate, romantic evening.
During her training sessions, Tang Yang met Xiao Qin, a younger colleague who quickly latched onto her, calling her “Tang Tang Jie” (Sister Tang Tang) and following her every move. Xiao Qin’s intense admiration made Tang Yang a bit uncomfortable, and she tried to keep a respectful distance.
Meanwhile, Jiang Shiyan was busy creating the perfect homecoming. Adding soft lighting, scented candles, and even cartoon-themed chopsticks for a personal touch, he couldn’t wait for Tang Yang to see his efforts. When she arrived and they embraced, they both felt a rush of joy—a feeling that, no matter how busy their lives became, they would always find warmth in each other.
Episode 26 Recap: Scandals, Hidden Affections, and a Surprising Reunion
Jiang Shiyan was on his way to take Tang Yang home when an urgent call from his company stopped him. Their celebrity client, Sheng Nina, was caught up in a scandal. Though Jiang Shiyan hesitated, Tang Yang urged him to handle the situation, understanding work came first.
When he arrived, Feng Weiran filled him in: Sheng Nina’s account had been hacked, with false images and videos posted to tarnish her reputation. Feng Weiran suggested terminating her contract to minimize damage, but Jiang Shiyan resisted. He reminded Feng that they’d signed Sheng Nina not just for her talent but for her genuine warmth, and cutting her loose without understanding the truth would be both unethical and unfair.
Meanwhile, Cheng Hui was rushing out of the office, causing everyone to wonder what was so urgent. Cheng was on his way to Sheng Nina’s, where he quickly secured her webpage against further attacks and, noticing she hadn’t eaten, even made her a warm bowl of wontons. Before he left, Cheng reassured her, sharing his own experiences of spending months in isolation and returning unaffected by outside noise. “Real fans won’t be swayed,” he told her, giving her peace of mind.
Afterward, Jiang Shiyan headed to Tang Yang’s place, where the stresses of work seemed to melt away. Tang Yang noticed his shirt cuffs were dirty and suggested he change, throwing both their clothes into the wash together. As she tidied up, she noticed Jiang Shiyan gazing at the washing machine with a smile. When he explained how seeing their clothes together made him inexplicably happy, she realized how deeply he cherished these small, shared moments and embraced him, feeling closer than ever.
Just a few days later, a due diligence team arrived at Jiang Shiyan’s company for an inspection. To his surprise, the head of the team was Song Jing, an old high school classmate—and someone rumored to have once briefly dated Tang Yang. Jiang Shiyan thought about telling Tang Yang but ultimately took Feng Weiran’s advice to avoid stirring up any unnecessary drama.
During lunch, Jiang Shiyan, Feng Weiran, and Cheng Hui hosted Song Jing and his team. Coincidentally, Tang Yang dropped by for a meal. When she saw Song Jing, she remained completely composed, much to Jiang Shiyan’s relief, and joined them at the table. Song Jing, however, was visibly flustered, immediately jumping up to help Tang Yang find a seat and watching her so intently that he forgot to eat. Both Feng Weiran and Cheng Hui couldn’t help but find his eagerness entertaining.
At one point, Tang Yang had a bit of food at the corner of her mouth. Song Jing, eager to help, reached for a napkin, but Tang Yang politely declined, saying, “My boyfriend can handle it.” Jiang Shiyan, perfectly in sync, handed her a tissue without missing a beat. Feng Weiran and Cheng Hui exchanged knowing glances, admiring the effortless connection between the two. Meanwhile, Song Jing sat frozen, the sting of jealousy written all over his face.
Later, Song Jing gathered some old classmates for dinner, hoping to get the scoop on Tang Yang’s life. He was thrilled to hear she was rumored to be single and that her mother had even arranged a few blind dates for her. Most of them thought she and Jiang Shiyan were just “close friends.” Encouraged by this news, Song Jing felt his old feelings for Tang Yang reigniting, thinking he might still have a chance after all these years.
Episode 27 Recap: Rivalries, Revelations, and Romantic Misunderstandings
Song Jing, while still conducting his due diligence at Jiang Shiyan’s company, took a moment to flaunt an upcoming dinner with Tang Yang. Claiming they were attending a banquet to celebrate their former professor, he made sure to ask if Jiang Shiyan knew about their shared university ties. Jiang Shiyan brushed it off, coolly mentioning he had known but hadn’t paid attention back then—a subtle reminder that he was secure in his relationship with Tang Yang.
Meanwhile, at the bank, Tang Yang’s day took an unexpected turn when her assistant delivered a bouquet of flowers with a mysterious card. Thinking they were from Jiang Shiyan, she happily snapped a few photos and sent them his way. But when she realized the flowers were from someone else entirely, she quickly deleted the photos—only to find that Jiang Shiyan had already seen them.
Jiang Shiyan teased her lightly, and she offered to toss the flowers if he was bothered. Instead, he asked her to take a picture of the bouquet by the trash. Later, he showed the photo to Feng Weiran right in front of Song Jing, innocently asking, “Why would Tang Yang put such a big bouquet by the trash?” Song Jing’s smile vanished as he realized his gift hadn’t left the impression he’d hoped.
In another fortunate turn, Sheng Nina’s scandal was finally resolved, with the authorities clearing her name and presenting solid evidence against the false rumors. Her popularity rebounded, and grateful for the support, she began searching for the person who had helped with the technical side of her crisis—Cheng Hui, though he’d kept his role a secret.
At the bank, Xiao Qin, a longtime admirer of Tang Yang, was transferred to her branch and finally had his chance to be near her. During a gathering, Jiang Shiyan came by to pick up Tang Yang, and Xiao Qin seized the moment to ask if he was her boyfriend. Feng Weiran, still hilariously oblivious, laughed it off, insisting they were just “good friends.” Xiao Qin was left surprised, while Cheng Hui simply sighed, sensing that Feng was missing the obvious.
After most of their colleagues had left, Tang Yang and Jiang Shiyan decided to make a point of their relationship, raising their voices and discussing their plans to go out together. Linking arms, they walked away, leaving Feng Weiran stunned. Cheng Hui shook his head and muttered, “The whole world knows, except Feng.”
Eager to confirm this new development, Feng Weiran rushed home to share the “big news” with Jiang Yanan. Thrilled, they both decided to go to Tang Yang’s place, fully expecting to catch the couple together. But when they arrived, their plan backfired as Jiang Shiyan and Tang Yang began reminiscing about their romantic journey, completely absorbed in each other, leaving Yanan and Feng feeling like they were being “fed dog food” as onlookers to the couple’s happiness.
Elsewhere, Zhou Mo faced a reality check in his own dealings. Working at Gan Yiming’s wife’s company, he had confidently expected that his connections would help him secure a loan from Tang Yang’s bank. But when he overheard Gan Yiming urgently discussing loan issues with his wife, he realized things weren’t going as smoothly as he’d assumed. His plan to use the “family card” had hit a roadblock, leaving him to reconsider his strategy in dealing with Tang Yang.
Episode 28 Recap: Old Memories, New Beginnings, and a Few Awkward Encounters
As night fell, Zhou Mo found himself lost in memories of Shanshan, his college sweetheart. Reading one of her poems, he recalled their chance meeting at the supermarket where she worked part-time and how they’d bonded over their shared love for literature. Though the warmth of those days lingered, Zhou Mo couldn’t shake the pain of losing her too soon. He wondered why life had been so unfair, taking away someone so dear.
Back at Jiang Shiyan’s company, Song Jing’s audit revealed some irregularities with the financial accounts. Feng Weiran suspected this scrutiny was driven by a personal grudge, but Jiang Shiyan trusted Song Jing’s professionalism and asked him to dig deeper into the accounts. Meanwhile, Feng Weiran, realizing Tang Yang and Jiang Shiyan were officially dating, was now the self-appointed champion of their relationship. He encouraged Shiyan to skip the long courtship and go straight to proposing. After all, he reasoned, they’d been close for years, and marriage would mean Shiyan could finally bring his “campus beauty” home.
Inspired by Feng’s suggestion, Jiang Shiyan quietly began preparing for a proposal. Tang Yang, however, was occupied with a complex project that involved Zhou Mo. As she reviewed the company’s records, she discovered repeated issues with repayment delays and came across an unfamiliar name—Shanshan, who had once investigated a similar project involving Zhou Mo before her unexpected resignation. This revelation left Tang Yang with a nagging feeling that something was amiss.
Meanwhile, the weekend brought some personal complications for Tang Yang as she returned home for a family meal. Her mother, eager to set her up, had arranged another blind date. Exasperated, Tang Yang decided it was time to come clean about her relationship with Jiang Shiyan. Her mother, however, assumed Tang Yang was just using Shiyan as an excuse to avoid dating. After much back-and-forth, Tang Yang finally retreated to her own place, leaving her mother unconvinced but determined to keep matchmaking.
In another twist, Song Jing’s team finished up their audit, and Feng Weiran suggested a farewell dinner. Song Jing seized the opportunity to ask if Tang Yang could join, hoping for a chance to reconnect. Ever the loyal friend, Feng promptly called Jiang Shiyan to see if he was okay with it. Shiyan, confident in his relationship, had no objections, instructing Feng to check with Tang Yang herself. When Tang Yang met Song Jing, he confessed that he’d once been so focused on his dreams of studying abroad that he’d ignored her feelings. Tang Yang quickly clarified that she’d never been part of his plans—it had always been his ambitions that drove him, not any connection with her. They both parted ways feeling a sense of closure.
When Jiang Shiyan returned from his business trip, he brought Tang Yang breakfast, arriving with dark circles under his eyes from travel fatigue. Tang Yang urged him to rest, but he smiled, saying just an hour with her made his day feel complete. His sentiment was undeniably cheesy, yet it melted her heart.
Their peaceful morning took an unexpected turn when both of their mothers arrived unannounced. Tang Yang’s mother, who had a key, let herself in, only to walk into the bedroom and find the two of them playfully changing sheets together, looking slightly disheveled. Startled, both mothers made a quick exit to the hallway, where they processed the scene with a mix of surprise and delight. After all, the two had grown up in front of each other’s families, and the mothers realized they’d always hoped for this outcome. Shiyan’s mother, especially, was thrilled; she had adored Tang Yang since childhood and had quietly worried that her accomplished son might not be good enough for her. Now, seeing their bond blossom into something more, she felt that it was fate—perhaps even a blessing from their ancestors.
With the families aligned and their romance finally out in the open, Tang Yang and Jiang Shiyan’s future together felt more certain than ever.
DramaZen's Opinion
Shiyan is definitely making up for lost time! All the sneaking around with Tang Yang is so adorable and brings out such a sweet side to their romance. His surprise birthday for her was next-level romantic—capturing little memories from their 13 years together was pure magic. And surprising her at the movies? Just casually popping up beside her was such a cute move!
Cheng Hui’s quiet, unwavering support for Sheng Nina has me swooning too. He came to her rescue in his usual understated way, and even though he tried to stay in the background, she figured out it was him. Seeing his hidden feelings touched her, and I think it’s deepened their connection in a beautiful way.
Then we finally get to meet Yang’s “first love,” Song Jing—only to discover they were never truly together! Turns out he was just using people to get ahead, but Yang saw through him before it could go anywhere. This little revelation gave Shiyan some peace, though he couldn’t resist being a bit mischievous. Placing flowers in Song Jing’s workspace to trigger his allergies? Classic, and hilariously petty!
And Xiao Qin? I thought he’d be the “third wheel” admirer too, but he ended up being such a genuine support for Tang Yang. He respected her work ethic and even helped her dig into the ongoing embezzlement mystery. Together, they make a solid team, and I love how they’ve grown closer professionally without any romantic tension.
These storylines are weaving together so perfectly—everyone’s finding their place in the sweetest ways!
Feng Weiran finally caught Shiyan and Yang dating, and his reaction was priceless! He raced home to spill the tea to his wife like it was the scoop of the century, and I couldn’t stop laughing. And don’t even get me started on when the two were “caught in bed” by their moms during a surprise visit to Yang’s place. The sheer awkwardness was hilarious! Now that the secret’s out, there’s no more sneaking around, so bring on the full-speed romance!
Also, there’s the jaw-dropping backstory on Zhou Mo’s corruption. Turns out his college junior, Shanshan, who once worked at the bank, was deeply entangled in Gan Yiming and his wife’s shady embezzlement scheme. The plot just keeps getting thicker, and Zhou Mo’s past is proving even darker than we imagined. With these secrets unraveling, things are bound to get even more intense!
