Check in Hanyang- (Final) Episodes 15-16
Love, Betrayal & A Fiery Showdown π₯
We have finally reached the grand finale of Check in Hanyang — and WHAT. A. RIDE! This week was a non-stop rollercoaster of twists, betrayals, shocking reveals, and one very dramatic fire. We got heart-wrenching sacrifices, a political power struggle, and an ending that left us with ALL the emotions. Grab your tea, because we have a lot to unpack!
Picking up from last week, Minister of War is dead, and the investigation is closing in on Prince Muyeong. The royal jade found at the scene is all the proof the prosecutor needs, and the king’s swordsmen are already on the move. Meanwhile, Grand Proprietor Cheon FINALLY gets his hands on the legendary ledger—only to realize it’s a FAKE.
π₯ BOOM. Deok-su outmaneuvered him YET AGAIN! π₯
Meanwhile, Uiju Guild’s master arrives at Yongcheonru with Seol Mae-hwa in tow, ready to stir up trouble. But the real drama unfolds when Deok-su makes a SHOCKING move—she hands the REAL ledger over to Grand Proprietor Cheon.
π WAIT, WHAT?! IS SHE GIVING UP ON REVENGE?! π±
Nope. Instead of chasing bloody vengeance, she chooses power. She declares that she wants to build her own success, just like Cheon did. And then Cheon—being the snake that he is—offers her his help… IF she marries Jun-hwa. π¨
And of course, Jun-hwa overhears everything. (The drama writes itself!)
As if things weren’t messy enough, both Jun-hwa and Prince Muyeong confront Deok-su, but for very different reasons:
π Jun-hwa: Promises to wait until Deok-su is ready to talk about their relationship. (Bro, she’s not coming back to you…)
π Prince Muyeong: Tries to talk her out of revenge, terrified she’ll get hurt.
π "Just let it go, please. I can’t bear to lose you."
π SIR. WE ARE ALL WEEPING. π
But Deok-su refuses to stop—she’s too deep to turn back now. Meanwhile, Grand Proprietor Cheon, still smug about his "victory," reflects on his past and the long-lost brass key. He thinks he finally has everything he wants—but ohhh boy, he has no idea what’s coming.
Things escalate FAST when Prince Eunseong is revealed as the TRUE mastermind behind the coup.
π₯ He has been secretly plotting his revenge all along, framing Prince Muyeong, while pretending to be his ally. π₯
Meanwhile, the King meets with Grand Proprietor Cheon, offering to help him destroy the ledger. But Cheon hesitates—because, surprise surprise, he wants to frame the Royal Swordsman as the Minister of War’s killer instead. π
Things go from bad to WORSE when Deok-su begs Prince Muyeong to run away with her before the inevitable bloodbath. He promises to meet her at the port later that night, but…
π THE KING SENDS HIS MEN TO CAPTURE BOTH OF THEM. π
By the time Muyeong arrives, Deok-su is already gone—and the boatman helping her? Dead.
π At the palace: Deok-su is captured & tortured for the location of the ledger. But she refuses to break.
βοΈ Muyeong arrives & begs his father to stop—but the King orders his own son to be locked away.
π¨ Muyeong BREAKS FREE, gets slashed protecting Deok-su, and literally picks her up in his arms to beg for her life.
π "Let me protect my person."
WE. ARE. NOT. OKAY.
π₯ At Yongcheonru: Jun-hwa finally learns THE TRUTH about his father’s crimes, thanks to Seol Mae-hwa. He’s absolutely shattered but refuses to side with Cheon any longer.
And then… GRAND PROPRIETOR CHEON LOSES HIS LAST MARBLE.
π₯ In a last-ditch effort to erase his past crimes, he BURNS YONGCHEONRU TO THE GROUND. π₯
But Deok-su faces him one last time.
π "I will not become you."
π "You were wrong. My father’s legacy is not yours to steal."
π Cheon refuses to leave, choosing to burn with the ruins of his empire. But no one ever finds his body… Did he actually die?! π€
βοΈ Prince Eunseong takes the throne, erasing Muyeong & Yongcheonru from history.
π Muyeong, Deok-su, Soo-ra & Jun-hwa leave Hanyang to start a new inn in Namhae.
π₯Ή Muyeong & Deok-su are finally together, teasing each other while doing laundry—just like old times.
The series ends on a hopeful note, proving that while revenge destroys, love and resilience build something new.
DramaZen's Opinion
"THIS WAS A MASTERPIECE!"
π₯ Best OTP Moment: Prince Muyeong carrying Deok-su and begging his father to let her live. Our hearts have fully combusted. π
π Funniest Moment: Jun-hwa solemnly promising to wait for Deok-su… only for her to immediately friend-zone him.π
π₯Ή Most Emotional Moment: Deok-su deciding to break the cycle of revenge. Her final words to Grand Proprietor Cheon were EVERYTHING.
π¨ Biggest Question: Did Grand Proprietor Cheon really die?! Or is he lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike?!π
And that’s a wrap, folks! π¬ Check in Hanyang gave us romance, action, betrayal, and a finale that left us in shambles. π But was it the perfect ending? π€
π¬ What do you think? Should Prince Muyeong have fought for the throne? Did Jun-hwa deserve redemption? And seriously—IS CHEON REALLY DEAD?!
