The Divorce Insurance- Episodes 7-8
Elevator Moments, Pillow Runs & Grey Zone Goodbyes
Episode 7 of The Divorce Insurance is basically what happens when slow-burn romance finally starts burning, all while our lovable insurance team scrambles to stop a divorce that threatens their entire launch. This episode was pure drama gold: romantic tension, last-minute loopholes, and emotional mic drops — capped off with that kiss.
We open with Ki-jun asking Han-deul to move into his place. But plot twist: he’s moving out and switching homes with her so she feels comfortable. Turns out neither of them has fond memories of their old apartments, and this “new start” vibe? It’s giving major rom-com energy.
Of course, nothing goes smoothly:
-
Ki-jun forgets his charger.
-
Han-deul tries to give him a pillow.
-
They bump into each other in the elevator.
-
He saves her from the door with dramatic flair.
-
Later, she mistakes him for an intruder when he comes back for a watch, and he literally has to hug her to stop her from hitting him.
Please. The tension is off the charts.
The next morning, they’re basically playing house. Bed hair, shared breakfast, toaster deliveries, and carpooling to work. It’s soft. It’s domestic. It’s not subtle.
Na-rae spots them and immediately demands answers. Ki-jun and Han-deul do what any not-couple couple would do — they run away. Na-rae vents to Jeon-man, then casually points out she recognized him by his scent. This woman has zero chill and I love it.
Meanwhile, elevator vibes are at an all-time high:
-
Jeon-man and Na-rae keep brushing hands in a packed lift.
-
Ki-jun and Han-deul keep standing close… even when they don’t have to.
Eventually, Ki-jun apologizes for Na-rae’s intrusive questions, and they agree to define the relationship. “Friends” feels right. “Lovers” feels too soon. So they settle on the dreaded in-between: the grey zone.
But not for long.
Just when things seem stable, policyholder Woo Seon-hee files for divorce — threatening their launch and the all-important 0% divorce rate.
At court, the team watches Seon-hee and her husband, Dr. Park Young-kyu, argue. But despite the paperwork, she still cares for him — she packs him food and worries about his health. Cue the team scrambling to stop the split.
Chang-hee returns (chaos magnet, certified menace) and drops the bomb: he sold the policy to Seon-hee without realizing the conditions. Dae-bok didn’t brief him. Oops.
The doc, meanwhile, is all too happy about the divorce. He literally brags about how energized he feels. Later, he speeds off to meet another woman. Suspicious? Very.
Han-deul and Ah-yeong meet with Seon-hee, who turns out to be heartbreakingly generous. She gave away her security deposit to a sick friend. She insists she’s divorcing her husband not because he’s cheating or cruel — but because he’s too full of life now, and she just doesn’t fit his world anymore.
Han-deul is devastated.
Back at the office, the team is stuck — until Ki-jun drops a legal bombshell: if they can prove Dr. Park is cheating, the policy is voided. Divorce or not, it won’t count.
It’s smart. It’s strategic.
It’s also brutal.
Han-deul hates the plan. Ki-jun argues it’s for the greater good: protect the policy, help future Seon-hees. But even he knows it’s a cold move.
To make things worse, Seon-hee starts connecting dots: her husband leaves before dinner, she never received those expensive blankets he supposedly gifted her. Uh-oh.
Meanwhile, Jeon-man buys a new chair, snaps a pic with Na-rae’s teddy bear on it, and sends it to her. She responds with wine. They both realize… yeah, there’s something there. They meet up.
It’s awkward. Sweet. Quietly magnetic.
Back at their apartment switch-up HQ, Han-deul gives Ki-jun the cold shoulder. He apologizes — not for the loophole, but for not considering how it might hurt her. She surprises herself by admitting why she’s upset: she cares about him.
And then he hits her — and us — with the line of the episode:
“I don’t want to be in the grey zone anymore.”
And he kisses her.
Game. Set. Feelings.
Grey Zones, Blankets, and Bombshells
Just when we thought The Divorce Insurance couldn’t tug at our hearts more, Episode 8 shows up with emotional gut-punches, blanket-fueled revelations, and the most quietly devastating love story yet. But don’t worry — we still get our fair share of awkward romance, pillow deliveries, and team hijinks. Oh, and that ending? Absolute whiplash.
Episode 8 picks up mid-almost-kiss between Ki-jun and Han-deul. But instead of locking lips, Ki-jun panics and runs. Classic. He bumps into Na-rae in the elevator (because of course) and they grab coffee. She wants clarity — something Ki-jun and Han-deul definitely lack. That’s when it hits her: she’s not in love with Ki-jun anymore. She just hated not having closure.
Meanwhile, Jeon-man stops by Ki-jun’s place, only to find Han-deul. He’s shocked but kind of thrilled — his emotionally constipated friend is finally opening up. As the two head out, Jeon-man runs into Na-rae and hits her with the most casually confident line:
“I don’t need advance notice to eat or drink with you.”
She blushes. We melt.
Ki-jun and Han-deul continue their slow dance around romance. They have a late-night phone call about being cowards and maybe stepping closer to the “grey zone.” He promises to learn more about her. She smiles. We swoon.
Morning comes with classic rom-com visuals: bed hair, shared breakfasts, and packed elevators where hands brush and hearts flutter. Na-rae sees them and demands answers. They have none. Just vibes.
Let’s talk about Seon-hee and Dr. Park — the heart of this episode. She’s distant, forgetful, and cold. He’s gruff and guilty. At first, it feels like a typical couple on the brink... until we find out the truth: Seon-hee has dementia.
She’s divorcing him on purpose, hoping he can move on and live freely. But he’s been secretly trying to repay her for everything — even buying back her old sewing machine. Turns out, the woman everyone thought was naïve had been planning for the future all along. Her diary is full of recipes, letters, and even cash-filled envelopes for future birthdays.
When she discovers her old sewing machine in their new ground-floor home, she lights up. He promises to stay by her side forever. She sews. He learns her recipes. It’s quiet, tender, and possibly the most beautifully told love story in the series so far.
The insurance team (because why not) ends up becoming impromptu movers to help the couple settle in. It’s a hilarious montage of chaos — packing fails, blanket discoveries, and emotional unraveling. The fancy imported blankets? He didbuy them. The financial recklessness? Totally misunderstood.
Han-deul's faith in people — and Ki-jun’s too — pays off.
-
Ah-yeong & Woong-sik: She calls him cheesy, he offers emotional support, she falls (literally), he catches her. Honestly, I’m not mad at this unexpected pairing.
-
Jeon-man & Na-rae: He sends her a pic of a chair with her teddy bear. She sends him wine. They get each other’s language now. Slow-burn with a side of wine? Yes, please.
-
Dae-bok: Caught stalking his wife to salvage his marriage, only to find she’s already on a solo Jeju trip. Bro, come on.
The episode closes on a high: the team celebrates their hard-earned 0% divorce rate. Ki-jun keeps doting on Han-deul like it’s second nature, and everyone’s picking up on it.
Jeon-man’s eyes keep darting around for Na-rae — and just as he wonders where she is… she walks in.
And then?
She drops the bomb:
“The team is dissolved.”
Mic. Drop. Cue stunned silence.
DramaZen's Opinion
Domestic Chaos, Emotional Gut-Punches, and One Killer Cliffhanger
Episodes 7 and 8 of The Divorce Insurance had me grinning, tearing up, and then yelling at my screen — all within an hour. The slow-burn between Ki-jun and Han-deul is finally heating up (hello, elevator tension and almost-kiss!), while Jeon-man and Na-rae continue to be the surprise ship I didn’t know I needed.
But what really hit me was the Seon-hee and Dr. Park storyline. It was raw, heartbreaking, and beautifully done. Her dementia reveal and his quiet devotion broke me — and then the sewing machine scene finished me.
And just when the team finally celebrates their 0% divorce rate, Na-rae walks in like a boss and drops the ultimate bomb:
“The team is dissolved.”
EXCUSE ME??
This show keeps delivering. Bring on Episode 9 — I need answers, romance, and probably a box of tissues.
