The latest episode of Marry My Husband brings all the feels as Ji-won takes her first confident steps toward reclaiming her life. With a fresh new look and a backbone to match, our heroine is officially done playing the victim, and it’s utterly satisfying to watch.

The episode starts with Ji-won asserting herself like never before. When Min-hwan’s creepy, unwarranted advances reach a boiling point, Ji-won seizes her chance to kick him out, thanks to Ji-hyuk’s perfectly timed intervention via a “misdelivered” chicken order. Inspired, Ji-won changes her door passcode, leaving Min-hwan and Soo-min locked out and fuming the next time they try to barge into her space. Small victories, but oh so sweet.

Next up is Ji-won’s dreaded high school reunion, but before that, a surprising ally steps in. Hee-yeon invites Ji-won out for a meal and a much-needed makeover. Her advice — to face tough situations head-on so there’s no room for regret — inspires Ji-won to take a bold step. At the salon, Ji-won asks for a complete transformation, signaling her rebirth. The result? A stunning bob cut, flawless makeup, and a chic dress that leaves her nearly in tears when she sees herself in the mirror. This makeover, courtesy of a supportive female friend, is a beautiful contrast to Soo-min’s past attempts to sabotage Ji-won’s style.

With her newfound confidence, Ji-won owns the high school reunion. She flips the script on her past humiliation by exposing the truth behind Soo-min’s petty sabotage — like the knockoff earrings she once gave Ji-won to embarrass her. Ji-won also demands answers from her former bullies, learning that Soo-min had spread malicious lies about Ji-won “stealing” men, including Min-hwan and Eun-ho.

Enter Eun-ho, who’s conveniently on hand to set the record straight, thanks to Ji-hyuk’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering. Eun-ho clarifies that not only had he and Soo-min never dated, but Ji-won had nothing to do with their supposed “breakup.” A heartwarming moment follows when Ji-won, flustered by the revelations, runs off, only for Eun-ho to chase after her and confess that he’d also had a crush on her back then. His nervous charm shines as he fumbles through an apology for holding her hand, realizes he needs to “clean” her hand, and awkwardly holds it again. Ji-hyuk, watching from the sidelines, notices Ji-won’s discomfort and calls her to offer an escape.

Ji-won’s “emergency” is a professional showcase, where Ji-hyuk champions her talents and helps her shut down a pompous businessman’s attempt to belittle her. The scene is a triumph, as Ji-won radiates newfound confidence, smiling freely for the first time in ages. Afterward, over coffee, we see her glow with optimism, while Ji-hyuk continues to win us over with his adorably awkward sincerity.

Speaking of Ji-hyuk, this episode finally peels back layers of his mysterious connection to Ji-won. His concern for her isn’t just out of the blue — he’s determined to protect her, and a shower scene gives us a clue why. Ji-hyuk bears a heart-shaped mark below his collarbone, identical to the doodles Ji-won’s late father used to draw. Flashbacks reveal that in the original timeline, Ji-hyuk attended Ji-won’s funeral, where Min-hwan and Soo-min were arrested for murder. Later, while driving home, he swerved to avoid a cat and got into a life-altering accident. When he woke up, he’d been given his own second chance — one he’s using to save Ji-won from her tragic fate.

This mix of heartfelt reinvention, juicy revelations, and slow-burn romance is pure drama gold. Ji-won’s transformation is inspiring, Ji-hyuk’s quiet devotion is swoon-worthy, and the high school reunion revenge is chef’s kiss. As Ji-won takes control of her destiny, we’re left wondering just how far Ji-hyuk will go to protect her. One thing’s certain: this drama is only getting better!

DramaZen's Opinion

Opinion of Marry My Husband (2024)

I am so invested in Ji-won’s journey right now! One of the best things about this drama is how it shows her slowly working through her trauma. It’s not some magical overnight fix — she still has those painful flashbacks — but she’s actively trying to move forward, and it’s just so empowering to watch. Seeing her rediscover herself and step out of her shell is giving me all the feels, and it’s why I trust this drama to take us somewhere amazing.

Let’s talk about Ji-hyuk for a sec because he’s walking that perfect line between being supportive and respecting Ji-won’s independence. I love that he hasn’t made any big moves on her (especially since she’s still keeping up appearances with Min-hwan) but instead quietly looks out for her in such a considerate way. And can we please laugh about the way he totally tripped over himself when he saw Ji-won dressed up and smiling in the office? So cute! When Ji-hyuk awkwardly tried to mention how he’d switched to contacts because of Ji-won’s suggestion, her reply absolutely killed me — she just said she dressed up because it made her feel good about herself. YES, GIRL! Live your best life!

On the flip side, I’m not quite sure how I feel about Eun-ho yet. He seems sweet and well-meaning, but wow, he’s coming on a little too strong. Like, dude, it’s been years, and you’re still wearing a fake couple ring? That’s... a lot. I laughed so hard when he used it to “prove” to Ji-hyuk that there’s nothing going on between them. Still, it’s pretty clear that Soo-min messed up whatever could’ve happened between him and Ji-won back in high school, and he’s still carrying that baggage.

Speaking of Soo-min, she’s such a trainwreck, and I can’t look away. Seeing Ji-won’s high school bullies turn on her this week was chef’s kiss, but of course, Soo-min immediately clung to Min-hwan like her life depended on it. She hasn’t learned anything, and her whole existence seems centered on keeping Ji-won beneath her. It’s honestly so sad — if she just let go of that toxic need to tear Ji-won down, maybe they could both thrive. Instead, she’s stuck in this twisted competition where Ji-won has to lose for her to win.

That’s why I love Hee-yeon so much! She’s the total opposite of Soo-min and never buys into that “women vs. women” garbage. Hee-yeon is unapologetically herself — from her love for designer shopping to her obsession with crispy fried dumplings — and she’s always there to hype Ji-won up. Plus, her sibling-like bickering with Ji-hyuk is hilarious. (Because they are siblings... right? Somebody PLEASE clear this up for Ji-won, like, yesterday.)

This drama has me hooked, and I can’t wait to see Ji-won continue to glow up, Ji-hyuk fumble adorably through his feelings, and Soo-min (hopefully) finally get what she deserves. I’m all in!
