Marry My Husband- Episodes 9-10
This week’s episodes were packed with high-octane drama, clever schemes, and long-awaited moments of intimacy. Ji-won’s revenge game levels up as she takes her tormentors to task, while her relationship with Ji-hyuk quietly blossoms in the background. With every victory Ji-won claims, the stakes keep rising, leading to an episode that balances its chaos with touching, heartfelt moments.
The episode kicks off with Soo-min attempting another manipulative stunt to reel Ji-won back in. After some pitiful whining doesn’t work, Soo-min ups the ante by falling into the water at the edge of a pier, knowing Ji-won won’t leave her to drown. True to form, Ji-won dives in, only to have Soo-min latch onto her and nearly drag her down in a sinister, calculated move. It’s Ji-hyuk to the rescue, pulling them both out just in time. Later, while Soo-min cozies up to Min-hwan, Ji-hyuk offers Ji-won solace through a heartfelt late-night conversation and a serene morning yacht ride. Their connection deepens even as Ji-won adapts her strategies for her revenge mission.
Ji-won accepts Soo-min’s invitation to a cooking class, knowing Min-hwan’s mother will attend. Ji-won puts on an over-the-top act, riling up her future mother-in-law and steering her straight into Soo-min’s arms. It’s a brilliant manipulation of Soo-min’s need to look perfect — one that Ji-won executes flawlessly. The plan culminates at an engagement lunch where Ji-won makes a dramatic entrance in an all-black ensemble, complete with faux fur sleeves, fishnet stockings, and knee-high boots. Confident and unapologetic, she dismantles Mom-in-law’s snobby misogyny with razor-sharp wit.
When Mom-in-law crosses the line by insulting Ji-won’s late father, Ji-won ends it all with a scathing retort, boldly calling off the wedding. As Min-hwan tries to grab her in anger, Ji-won flips him judo-style onto the front lawn. A triumphant exit, indeed!
Ji-won keeps the momentum going the next day, confronting Min-hwan at work with damning evidence of his cheating. In front of their coworkers, she slaps him three times and dangles red lace panties to expose his infidelity. As she tosses her engagement ring across the room (breaking the rhinestone, hilariously), Manager Kim, reinstated for reasons unknown, adds to the drama. When Min-hwan insults Soo-min, Kim leaps to her defense, sparking a chaotic confrontation that leaves the entire office buzzing with gossip.
Adding insult to injury, Min-hwan and Soo-min’s past indiscretions resurface, revealing a forgotten allergen sign and a hospitalized customer during one of their workplace trysts. The fallout is swift: Min-hwan is demoted to another department, and Soo-min’s contract is terminated.
Unwilling to accept defeat, Soo-min forges a fake apology letter in Ji-won’s name, only for it to backfire spectacularly. When the victims of the allergen incident storm the building, Ji-won publicly exposes Soo-min’s deceit. Desperate for sympathy, Soo-min escalates her lies, claiming she’s pregnant. The twist? Min-hwan, drowning in debt, proposes to Soo-min in hopes of securing financial help from his parents. His recycled sweet talk about “creating a family” tugs at Soo-min’s heartstrings, but how long can she keep the ruse up? With fake ultrasounds and pregnancy tests in the works, Soo-min’s web of lies grows ever more tangled.
While the chaos unfolds, Ji-won takes meaningful steps toward independence, moving into a new apartment in the same building as Ji-hyuk. For the first time, Ji-hyuk seeks advice from Ji-won: “Take things one step at a time, and do what you want in the moment.” Despite her words, Ji-hyuk struggles to follow through, moping with a tub of ice cream after asking Hee-yeon to play matchmaker for Ji-won and Eun-ho. It’s bittersweet, especially as Ji-hyuk clearly prepares for a future without himself in Ji-won’s life, prioritizing her happiness over his own.
Still, Ji-won can’t stop thinking about Ji-hyuk. After a Christmas date with Eun-ho, where she gently rejects his feelings, Ji-won finds Ji-hyuk waiting for her in the cold. A sneeze gives him away, and they head to his apartment, where she’s greeted by twinkling fairy lights and thoughtful Christmas decorations — exactly what Hee-yeon mentioned she’d like.
Overwhelmed by Ji-hyuk’s gesture, Ji-won admits she kept thinking of someone else during her date: the person who knows her best, and the one only she can truly understand. Taking a leap of faith, Ji-won kisses Ji-hyuk softly. When she pulls away, his hesitation crumbles, and he kisses her back with all the passion they’ve been holding back. It’s a heart-stopping moment of vulnerability and connection that marks a turning point for both of them.
DramaZen's Opinion
OMG, finally! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Ji-won and Ji-hyuk’s romance has been such an incredible slow burn, and the payoff this week was absolutely worth it. I love that Ji-won made the first move — it feels so empowering, like she’s finally listening to her heart and chasing her own happiness for the first time. It’s such a beautiful culmination of all the quiet, selfless acts Ji-hyuk has done for her. He never expected anything in return, but if anyone deserves love, it’s him. And if anyone deserves to take charge of their joy, it’s Ji-won. Seeing her finally take that step was everything.
On top of the romance, it’s so heartwarming to see Ji-won building a genuine support system. These aren’t just people who pity her or want something from her — they rally around her out of real respect and affection, and it’s so lovely. Each character feels like they have their own little journey too, which makes the story even richer. Like, can we talk about the adorable hitchhiking scene with Joo-ran on Seok-joon’s motorcycle? So cute! Though I’m low-key stressed about Joo-ran’s stomach pains. Please, please let it not be Ji-won’s cancer in this timeline. She deserves so much better!
Another standout moment was Ji-won’s reaction to Soo-min gifting her those red heels — the same ones she wore on the day of Ji-won’s death. Talk about a powerfully loaded gesture. As viewers, we’ve hated Min-hwan and Soo-min from the start because we know how awful they are, but Ji-won has loved these people for years. You can see that complicated mix of emotions in her expression — the heartbreak, the anger, the bitterness. Her sarcastic thank-you to them for proving, over and over, that they’re irredeemable was such a raw and satisfying moment. It’s clear that her resolve for revenge is growing stronger, but her journey is so layered and human.
And Soo-min? Ugh, she’s such a mess, but I can’t look away. Her obsession with being superior to Ji-won while simultaneously playing the victim is fascinating. She genuinely seemed hurt when Ji-won stopped taking her side unconditionally, and while it’s partly because she took Ji-won for granted, there’s also something deeper there. Soo-min’s desperation for Ji-won’s attention and approval almost feels like codependency. Her immediate attachment to Min-hwan after he dangled the promise of “a family” is another layer I can’t wait to see unpacked. There’s definitely some deep history driving her actions, and I’m dying to know what it is — and how it’ll eventually blow up in her face. Because let’s be real, there’s no way Min-hwan and Soo-min are walking down the aisle without drama, right?
