Study Group- Episodes 5-6
Alright, Study Group fans, buckle up because episodes 5 and 6 were an absolute rollercoaster of action, drama, and emotional gut punches! These episodes gave us everything—badass fights, touching character growth, and one very unexpected high-speed car chase (because why not?). Let’s break it down!
The study group’s Seoul trip started out as a chance to bond and learn, but of course, chaos found its way into their itinerary. Thanks to Ji-woo’s legendary texting blunder, Ga-min ends up at the wrong school—Manik High—where he unknowingly walks into a full-blown bullying situation. Naturally, he handles it the Ga-min way (read: pummeling every bully in sight).
What really stood out in this episode was Jun-min’s unexpected apology. The same Jun-min who once rejected Ga-min from his old study group now respects him, showing just how much Ga-min has grown. And let’s not forget Han-gyeong’s big decision—she’s not giving up on Yusung Technical High. Something is keeping her there, and we’re dying to know what.
Back home, the study group gets a new clubroom—except it’s a complete dump. But with Ga-min’s infectious enthusiasm, they roll up their sleeves and get to work. That is, until yet another bully, Ho-min, crashes their progress. Seriously, can these kids ever catch a break?
Meanwhile, Han-gyeong strikes a deal with the Deputy Principal—if the study group can raise their grades by ten whole points, she gets to push for Pi Han-ui’s punishment. The challenge is on, but will the group be able to pull it off?
The real emotional gut punch comes from Se-hyeon’s struggles. His abusive father forces him to work at a construction site, completely disregarding his dream of studying. But Hee-won encourages him (bless her heart), and just when things seem to be turning around, bam—Ho-min and his goons ambush them.
For Se-hyeon, the biggest blow isn’t just the fists—it’s the realization that he still needs Ga-min to save him. His frustration is palpable, and when he finally lands a knockout punch on Ho-min later on without Ga-min’s help? Absolute chef’s kiss moment!
Just when we thought things couldn’t get more intense, episode 6 proves us wrong. We finally meet Ga-min’s tough-as-nails mom, and she’s not happy about his school situation. She’s all set to transfer him out—permanently. But this is Ga-min we’re talking about. Like he’d ever leave without a fight?
Meanwhile, Pi Han-ui and his right-hand man Min-hwan are making even more diabolical moves, setting up an underground group called ‘No Reason’ (ironic, considering they’re pure evil). Their schemes are clearly aimed at maintaining their iron grip over the school, and Han-gyeong? She’s officially in their way.
Back at the study group, the kids desperately try to stop Ga-min’s mom from going through with his transfer. Their attempt? A literal high-speed car chase. Who knew studying required this much action? But just as they think they’ve caught up—Ho-min and his biker gang block the road. What follows is another brutal brawl, with Ji-woo and Lee-joon holding their own like absolute legends.
But plot twist alert! Ga-min’s mom isn’t just any regular parent—she’s the director of the Korea Taekwondo Association! And when Min-hwan and his gang try to pick a fight at the cafe where she’s meeting with Han-gyeong, she throws down. Unfortunately, she gets injured protecting Han-gyeong, and the rage that builds in Ga-min after this? Oof.
The episode ends on a jaw-dropping note: Ga-min storms into school and finally lands a punch on Pi Han-ui in front of everyone. But even as he stands victorious, his inner thoughts reveal a darker worry—is everything that’s happening actually his fault?
DramaZen's Opinion
Episodes 5 and 6 had everything—heartfelt growth, brutal fights, and shocking twists. Ga-min continues to prove why he’s the ultimate underdog hero, but these episodes also gave Se-hyeon a major moment to shine. His personal battle—fighting against his circumstances and proving his own strength—was so powerful and relatable.
And Ga-min’s mom? MVP. That woman did not come to play, and I am living for her presence in the story.
As for Pi Han-ui? Oh, he needs to be stopped. But can Ga-min and the study group really take him down, especially now that ‘No Reason’ is gaining power? And with Han-gyeong clearly hiding some past trauma connected to Yusung Technical High, things are only getting deeper.
One thing is clear—this isn’t just about grades anymore. It’s about survival.
