Fake Marriage, Real Feelings: Me-ri and Woo-joo’s Chemistry Starts to Spark

Episode 3 opens with one of those “OMG they might get caught at any minute” moments. Our duo, Me-ri and Woo-joo, are still trying to keep up the fake-marriage act and already the pressure’s building. In one awkward scene, Me-ri nearly gets exposed when Woo-joo’s family circles round and finds her cellphone lying around. She improvises by pretending she’s possessed to throw them off. It’s hilarious and kind of painful in that “they’re such a mess” way.

That almost-catch sets the tone for everything else: Me-ri ends up checking into a sketchy long-stay motel because she’s out of options. Woo-joo, meanwhile, shows up in unexpected hero mode: after a drunken company dinner invites chaos, he rescues her from a worrying situation at the motel. (It’s less heroic than it sounds, there’s hot water burned foot and a motel owner misunderstanding, plus Woo-joo accidentally punches the guy thinking he’s harassing Me-ri.)

Back at the “newly-wed” house they won, things are going sideways in stealth mode. Me-ri tries to lie low, but the sound-sensitive lights go off when she claps to kill a mosquito… cue Sang-hyun dropping in for a surprise visit. Me-ri scrambles with excuses, and Woo-joo ends up helping her fake the “we just got married so we’re still unpacking” line. Meanwhile, there are corporate skeletons rattling: Han-gu is desperate to suppress his embezzlement, and the pressure mounts on Woo-joo’s marketing team (which links back to Me-ri’s design company).

The episode really pivots when Me-ri and Woo-joo go for their wedding photo shoot. What was meant as an obligation starts to feel… something else. They accidentally kiss (well, he kisses her to stop someone recognizing him, and she joins it) and both of them blink at the moment, wondering if their act is becoming real. Major tension shift.

Overall, Episode 3 is a master blend of comedy, awkwardness, and slow-burn romance. We see Me-ri’s fraught life continue to collide with Woo-joo’s professional and personal world. Their fake partnership is full of near-misses, cover-ups and surprisingly vulnerable moments, it’s messy, it’s sweet, and it’s absolutely watchable.

Caught in the Act: When Pretend Love Turns a Little Too Real

Things are getting complicated for Meri and Woo-Ju. Just when it seemed like their fake marriage might finally smooth out, the rules for claiming Meri’s raffle prize got even tougher. Turns out, the house she won isn’t just a sign-and-go deal, she actually has to prove they’re real newlyweds. At first, Woo-Ju was his usual hesitant self, but something’s definitely shifted. He’s suddenly all-in, helping Meri fight to keep the house she worked so hard for.

Episode 4 opens right where the last one left us hanging, with that long-awaited kiss. What started as a quick move to avoid getting caught by a coworker turned into a surprisingly romantic moment. Neither of them planned it, and it wasn’t about feelings (yet), but the chemistry was undeniable. It was awkward, intense, and the kind of scene that makes you rewind just to watch it again.

To sell their newlywed act, Meri and Woo-Ju go full domestic, posing for wedding photos and filling the house with couple-themed decorations. But of course, their perfect setup doesn’t last. Baek Sung-Wu was supposed to visit with his boss, and an unexpected mishap ruins all their careful planning. Even so, the evening ends on a sweeter note when Woo-Ju stays late at Meri’s place. The growing ease between them is hard to ignore, and you can almost feel something real starting to take root.

While the romance keeps heating up, the show also hints at darker secrets ahead. Woo-Ju’s uncle, who once covered up a fatal company scandal, seems ready to stir up trouble. His shadow over Woo-Ju’s life and now Meri’s, adds a tense layer that could easily turn everything upside down.

By the end of the episode, things are clearly shifting. Choi Woo-Sik brings so much heart to Woo-Ju, especially as he starts to realize Meri might actually be his childhood crush. But just when things get good, Meri’s ex-husband reappears, setting up the possibility of a messy love triangle. With two men named Woo-Ju now in the picture, the upcoming episodes are bound to test both hearts and egos.

DramaZen's Opinion

Opinion of Would You Marry Me (2025)

Episodes 3 and 4 really took the fake marriage plot to a whole new level. The chemistry between Meri and Woo-Ju is finally starting to bloom, and you can’t help but root for them even when things get awkward. That kiss? Totally unexpected but impossible to forget, it felt like the moment everything changed.

What I love most is how natural their connection feels. They’re slowly letting their guards down, and the show balances humor, heart, and just enough tension to keep you hooked. On top of that, the hints of a darker family secret and the sudden reappearance of Meri’s ex promise that the drama’s only getting deeper. It’s safe to say Would You Marry Me is shaping up to be one of those rom-coms that keeps you smiling one minute and gasping the next.
