When The Stars Gossip- Episodes 13-14
Family Secrets, Love Confessions, and a Scandal Brewing!
Welcome back, When the Stars Gossip fans! Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more dramatic, these episodes threw family bombshells, secret romances, betrayals, and a space scandal that could ruin everything. Plus, we got a funeral for mice (yes, really). Let’s dive into the chaos!
Episode 13: Love, Lies, and One Big Family Secret
We kick off with a gut-wrenching flashback, revealing Eve’s childhood trauma. Her birth mother, Jung Na-mi, abandoned her on Christmas Eve—leaving her in a taxi while sobbing around the corner. Oof.
Fast-forward to the present, and Ryong and Kang-su are in hot water after being dragged in for questioning. While Ryong somehow slips away unscathed, Kang-su is about to face serious consequences.
Outside, Tae-hui confronts Ryong, flat-out telling him that she knows he’s secretly seeing Eve. Ryong, ever the hopeless romantic, doesn’t deny it and insists he really cares about her. But time is running out—Eve is set to return to space in just a few days.
Over at MCC, Eve makes a huge discovery—one of the female mice is pregnant! (Could this be a sign?) She immediately calls Ryong, who drops everything to rush over and confirm. The two share a rare happy moment as they spread the news to the MCC team.
Seung-jun, always full of bad ideas, insists that since the mice conceived in space, they should give birth in space too.Eve immediately shuts that down, but a heated argument ensues. The stakes? Way too high.
Meanwhile, the MCC team is celebrating… but Kang-su? Not so much. He hears the cheering and assumes it’s about his firing. (Oof, self-awareness hurts.)
His disciplinary hearing goes as badly as expected—he’s banned from returning to the space station forever and completely cut from the fruit fly project. No objections there. But Kang-su? Not going down quietly. He throws his space suit on the ground, making it very clear he isn’t done causing trouble.
Meanwhile, Ryong is back at the Fertility Clinic, supporting Min-jeong as he implants the morulas. Go-eun, in a rare moment of maturity, lets Ryong go and shuts down her father’s plan to get him “canceled.” (Finally, some growth!)
But the real shocker comes when Eve discovers who her birth mother is. Plot twist: It’s Jung Na-mi—aka one of Ryong’s moms! (Insert dramatic music.)
Na-mi shows up at Eve’s place, confessing that she’s wanted to die every day since abandoning her but found a new purpose in Ryong. Eve, holding back tears, pretends she isn’t the abandoned child (but we know the truth).
After Na-mi leaves, Eve secretly runs a DNA test—and it confirms everything. (Cue emotional breakdown.)
Just when things couldn’t get worse, tragedy strikes—the pregnant mouse doesn’t make it. (Symbolism much?)
Later, Ryong bumps into Eve and hands her a marriage registration form. It’s not a proposal, just a reminder that they don’t have families and are alike in that way.
Little does he know… Eve does have a family now.
She forces a smile, but deep down, it’s all too much.
Episode 14: Mice Funerals, Hidden Love, and a Brewing Scandal
Because this show is unhinged in the best way, we open with a full-on funeral for the deceased mice. (RIP, space babies.) MCC staff cry, there are actual squeaks in the background, and everyone reflects on the tragedy.
Meanwhile, Eve tries to process her birth mom drama while Ryong focuses on the morula’s progress.
But Ryong also has a surprise for Eve—a book on obstetrics. (Romantic? Weird? Both?) Turns out, this is the samebook he once hid alcohol in. He teases her to take it to space for her comrades (she threatens to slap him instead).
Despite everything, their chemistry is off the charts.
Meanwhile, at IOU Mission Control in Houston, officials review everything recovered from the space shuttle—including Ryong’s phone.
Reminder: That phone contains an incriminating half-written message about the illegal embryo experiment.
The Americans translate the message and send it straight to Korea. (Yikes.)
Tae-hui—who is way too invested in Eve’s personal life—warns her to stay away from Ryong to protect her reputation. But instead of listening, Eve keeps seeing him in secret.
They reflect on their time in space together, and Eve confesses that for the first time in her life, she didn’t feel alone. And it’s because of him.
Cue: The Feels. ðŸ˜
Meanwhile, Kang-su—still salty as ever—meets with Jae-ryong and spills the tea: Ryong is over Go-eun and has feelings for someone else. (Oh boy…) Jae-ryong goes full villain mode, threatening to destroy Ryong’s career and ban him from medicine forever.
But then…
BOOM! The phone scandal drops.
Tae-hui gets the translated message from Houston, confirming that Ryong illegally created an embryo in space.
Dong-a and Tae-hui rush to MCC to contain the situation. Ryong, meanwhile, is mid-surgery when he’s confronted by Jae-ryong, leading to a massive showdown in the operating room.
Ryong plays it cool, claiming the embryo from space died and that he created a new one after returning. (A bold lie, but okay.)
Meanwhile, Eve is interrogated by Tae-hui, who demands answers.
In a devastating final moment, Eve tells Ryong she has no choice but to betray him. She has to protect MCC and the future of Korean space travel.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger, as Ryong’s entire future hangs in the balance.
DramaZen's Opinion
My Brain is Short-Circuiting ✨
Okay, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!
- Eve’s mom is Ryong’s mom??? I did not see that coming. 🤯
- The mice funeral was hilariously dramatic.
- Kang-su is determined to drag Ryong down with him.
- The space baby scandal is officially out, and Eve just betrayed Ryong?!
My entire soul is invested in this messy, chaotic romance. Eve clearly loves Ryong, but now she’s throwing him under the bus?! I need them to stop hurting each other and fight back together!
Final rating? 8/10, my heart is in shambles. ðŸ˜ðŸš€ðŸ’”
