Love, Loss, and a Bittersweet Goodbye πŸš€πŸ’”

Well, When the Stars Gossip has officially wrecked my emotions! Episodes 15 & 16 gave us everything—betrayal, heartbreak, space disasters, a literal miracle birth, and an ending that has me staring at my screen like ???. Let’s break it all down!

Episode 15: Betrayals, Sacrifices, and a Space Baby Twist!

The episode kicks off with Kang-su doing what he does best—being a slimy, backstabbing snake. He’s working overtime to destroy any remaining evidence linking the illegal embryo experiment to MZ Group, knowing that Ryong is about to take the biggest fall of his life.

Meanwhile, Eve is desperately trying to cut a deal with Tae-hui. Her idea? Report that she destroyed the morula before returning to Earth. Ryong, meanwhile, is banging on doors, giving passionate speeches about ethics, miracles, and the future of humanity—but no one is listening.

In the end, Eve smuggles the morula into a portable freezer to show Ryong what they’ve done—not as an act of cruelty, but to help him. The official story? Ryong smuggled the morula into space and it was destroyed up there. This way, he won’t get the worst possible sentence.

Despite their best efforts, Ryong’s world implodes. He tries to tell the Chairman the truth (big mistake), and in response, the man literally beats him. (That’s one way to say ‘I’m disappointed.’) Go-eun wants to help get him a lawyer, but Ryong refuses, believing he deserves his fate.

Meanwhile, Eve gets stripped of her Commander status, and whether she’ll ever work in space again is up in the air. For now, though, she’s still allowed to complete the upcoming space station repair mission—her last chance to be among the stars.

Two months later, the mission goes ahead, and Eve soaks in her final views of Earth from space (cue the tears). Meanwhile, Ryong faces his trial and gets absolutely destroyed.

  • Verdict: Two years in prison (suspended for four years).
  • Fine: 140 billion won (OUCH).
  • Medical License? REVOKED.

MZ Group gets off scot-free, but Eve? She’s about to be fired too.

And just when we think things can’t get crazier, Kang-su slithers back into the picture, mocking Ryong and even offering to pay his fine so he can be with Eve (like he’s some kind of hero). Ryong rightfully punches him and walks away.

But plot twistEve is pregnant.

IN SPACE.

Yes, you read that right. Eve does an ultrasound ON THE SPACE STATION and confirms the news while being literally monitored 24/7 by MCC. (How did no one notice? We’ll never know!)

She keeps the news to herself, but it’s not long before Ryong finds out. His reaction? Complete shock.

Episode 16: A Space Birth, A Love That Defies Gravity, and a Heartbreaking Goodbye

After dropping the baby bombshell on MCC, Eve insists she wants to stay in space and give birth up there. (Girl, NO.)

MCC is freaking out, scrambling for answers—how did she pass all the pre-flight medical exams without anyone realizing she was pregnant?! (K-drama logic at its finest.)

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Ryong loses it. He swears to go up and save her, even though he legally shouldn’t be anywhere near a spaceship. But there’s a problem: Eve needs an OB-GYN with space experience… and, oh look, there’s only one person who fits that description.

πŸš€ Cue Ryong begging MCC to let him go back to space.

Against all odds, Tae-hui gives the green light. Before departing, Ryong tearfully gives his wedding savings to his moms (cue the waterworks) and boards the rocket.

Welcome back to space, Doctor Ryong!

Once he arrives, Ryong finds Eve in bad shape. She’s bleeding, and the baby is in danger. She needs a McDonald Cerclage (a stitch to protect the pregnancy), but without proper tools or facilities, Ryong is terrified.

And then comes the gut punch: If he stays too long in space, he might never walk again… or even go blind.

Ryong begs Eve to return to Earth with him, and just when they start re-entry, her blood pressure spikes—forcing them to turn back to the station.

(At this point, I was screaming at my screen. STAY ON EARTH, WOMAN.)

Somehow, Eve gives birth on the space station (with no medical team, no complications, and zero mess—sure, why not). They name their daughter Byeol, meaning star—because, well, duh.

It’s a beautiful moment… but then?

🚨 Eve dies. 🚨

(EXCUSE ME, WHAT?!)

After everything, Eve succumbs to her injuries one day after giving birth. (I AM NOT OKAY.)

One year later, MZ Group launches a space fertility clinic, trying to make billions off of Ryong’s research. (Corporate greed never rests!)

But Ryong? He’s still in space. For 1 year and 7 months. With Byeol.

Why? Because zero gravity is keeping her alive due to complications from being born in space. But staying up there is destroying Ryong’s body—his organs, muscles, and eyesight are failing.

Before returning, he spreads Eve’s ashes in space (I’m sobbing), then prepares for re-entry.

The Ending: What. Just. Happened?!

We flash forward years into the future.

An older Ryong, now in a wheelchair, sits by the ocean. His eyes are glassyhe’s gone blind.

A woman watches him from afar, while a little girl—Byeol—walks up to him.

We see baby photos, then…

FADE TO BLACK.

THAT’S. IT.

Opinion of When the Stars Gossip (2024)

I’m Emotionally Destroyed πŸš€πŸ’”

  • Eve dying??? NOT OKAY. 😭
  • Ryong sacrificing EVERYTHING for Byeol? My heart can’t handle this.
  • MZ Group profiting off his pain??? Disgusting but realistic.
  • Kang-su STILL being the worst? Ugh, go away.
  • That cryptic ending?! Is Byeol okay? Did Ryong ever make it back to Earth? WHO WAS THE WOMAN WATCHING HIM?!

I need therapy after this finale. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, hopeful, and frustrating all at once. When the Stars Gossipwill haunt me forever.

Final rating? 7/10, my soul has left my body. πŸš€πŸ’«πŸ’”
