Only For Love- Episode 28-30 Recap
Well as a viewer, I was left feeling rather ticked off at episode 27! I'm hoping the next three episodes can redeem the writers' stupidity with how he wrote the character's personalities. So far, I dislike most of the characters. The FL is rather selfish and one-sided when it comes to viweing things and people around her. The ML is too broody for my liking, but I still feel a pang of sympathy for him in the romance department. The FL's bestie is ridiculous and has the worst advice when trying to console the FL, while her love interest is struggling to maintain that deep down he is a softie-at-heart and not a playboy. Then you have the neice and the professor, who hopefully will either go all out and date or finally just separate instead of constantly playing push-and-pull the whole time.
Let's jump into episode 28 with wisful thinking.......
Shi Yan came across the manuscript of Zheng Shuyi's interview with Yi Yang in his social feed and was struck with a wave of disappointment—he realized he wasn’t as significant to her as he had hoped. Meanwhile, Qin Shiyue, searching for old class notes to study, sought out a male classmate she had met before in Caida. As fate would have it, Yu You spotted her and seized the opportunity to invite her to dinner.
Guan Xiangcheng, troubled by Shi Yan's emotional turmoil, discovered the brewing conflict between Shi Yan and Zheng Shuyi. He viewed their quarrels as a natural part of young relationships, believing that greater understanding and empathy were the keys to resolution. However, Shi Yan, feeling overshadowed by Zheng Shuyi's growing circle and numerous commitments, questioned if their bond was truly worth the struggle. His frustration grew as he grappled with the realization that Zheng Shuyi had multiple paths and possibilities ahead of her.
When Yu You discovered that Qin Shiyue had come to school to borrow notes, he decided to send her the courseware directly. However, Qin Shiyue expressed concern that she might struggle with the material. Yu You, showing unexpected depth, encouraged her to reach out with any questions she might have. This gesture revealed a side of Yu You that Qin Shiyue hadn’t noticed before. Feeling a newfound sense of importance and affection, Qin Shiyue resolved to pursue Yu You, navigating their relationship with a mix of cautious distance and intimate closeness.
Under Shi Yan’s orders, Qin Shiyue was compelled to consider resigning, but her reluctance to let Yu You down made her hesitate. Determined not to lose the job she still cherished, she went straight to Zheng Shuyi at the financial agency, pleading for an extended leave instead. As Zheng Shuyi learned of Shi Yan’s arrangement for Qin Shiyue’s leave, suspicion flared. She began to wonder if Shi Yan’s move was a strategic ploy to isolate those close to her and tighten his grip on her life.
Zheng Shuyi arrived at Yunchuang with a heavy heart, hoping to mend things with Shi Yan. But when she was met by Chen Sheng, she learned that Shi Yan had abruptly halted the special cooperation between Yunchuang and the financial agency, explicitly stating that he no longer wished to see her. Determined to make things right, Zheng Shuyi sent a heartfelt apology, hoping to salvage their professional ties. Despite her earnest effort, Shi Yan's interpretation of her message led him to believe she was solely focused on the business deal. Feeling betrayed and hurt, he decisively blocked Zheng Shuyi on WeChat, shutting down any chance of reconciliation.
To prevent jeopardizing the special cooperation between the financial agency and Yunchuang, Zheng Shuyi took a bold step by sending Shi Yan a heartfelt email. She urged him to overlook their past conflicts and continue with the partnership, offering to withdraw from the project herself to smooth things over. However, Shi Yan's anger only intensified. The sight of Zheng Shuyi so readily conceding and stepping away fueled his resentment, making him feel even more betrayed and hurt.
When Shi Yan’s father arrived at Yunchuang Company for a crucial meeting, tension was already brewing among the company's veteran shareholders. Frustrated by Shi Yan's recent investment decisions, they proposed elevating Qin Xiaoming to oversee all Yunchuang's operations, hoping to shield the company from further missteps by the inexperienced Shi Yan. Shi Yan’s father staunchly opposed this move, asserting his support for his son. In a bold stand, Shi Yan vowed to tackle Le'an's challenges head-on and take full responsibility for any setbacks. The stakes were high, and the outcome of this clash could reshape the future of Yunchuang.
Zheng Shuyi made the difficult decision to withdraw from the special report on Yunchuang, sparking tension with Tang Yi. Despite his reluctance, Tang Yi agreed to reassign the report to preserve the project's integrity. Meanwhile, Xu Yuling, who had secretly overheard the news of Zheng Shuyi's breakup with Shi Yan, seized the opportunity to further malign Zheng Shuyi. With a newfound sense of superiority, Xu Yuling criticized Zheng Shuyi’s past methods and confidently took control of the Yunchuang project. Her arrogance towards Zheng Shuyi only intensified, adding fuel to the already smoldering rivalry.
When Xu Yuling arrived at Yunchuang to take over the special interview, she was met with an unexpected snub from Shi Yan, who flatly refused to accept interviews from two reporters on the same project. Her frustration was palpable as her carefully laid plans were abruptly derailed. Meanwhile, Yi Yang swooped in to lift Zheng Shuyi’s spirits after a long day at work. He whisked her away on an impromptu adventure, taking her to a boxing gym to find some creative inspiration. As Zheng Shuyi unleashed her stress with each punch, she felt a deep sense of gratitude towards Yi Yang, who had managed to turn a difficult day into an invigorating experience.
After a long silence, Yu You reached out to track down Qin Shiyue. He arranged a meeting with Zheng Shuyi, determined to uncover the reason for Qin Shiyue’s extended leave. Zheng revealed that Qin Shiyue had taken time off to recuperate. Sensing an opportunity, Yu You pressed further and discovered the friction between Zheng Shuyi and Shi Yan. He reassured Zheng Shuyi that Shi Yan was not one to hold grudges lightly and that a clear explanation could mend the rift. Yu You speculated that Shi Yan might perceive Zheng Shuyi as prioritizing work over their relationship. He advised her to address Shi Yan’s feelings with this insight, suggesting that a heartfelt approach might be the key to resolving their emotional turmoil.
Zheng Shuyi wandered along the riverside where she and Shi Yan once strolled together, struggling with how to show him her true feelings. Unbeknownst to her, Shi Yan was also there, grappling with his own uncertainties. As fate would have it, he ran into Qin Shiyue and posed a question that weighed heavily on his mind: "What happens when a girl who was once actively pursuing a boy suddenly withdraws her efforts?" Qin Shiyue, with a knowing glance, replied that while persistence can wear anyone out, it's crucial for boys to step up and take the lead when needed. The encounter on the riverside was poised to become a turning point for both of them, as their paths and emotions were about to collide in unexpected ways.
Qin Shiyue remarked on the stark contrast between how men and women think, hinting at a possible misunderstanding between Shi Yan and Zheng Shuyi. She noted that sometimes, women struggle to express their true feelings precisely because they care so deeply. Shi Yan, however, was resolute: for a relationship to endure, honesty must prevail. He insisted that love isn’t built on unconditional compromise or enduring wrongs; instead, it’s founded on clear life goals and mutual understanding. As Qin Shiyue absorbed Shi Yan's perspective, she began to question whether her relationship with Yu You was truly aligned. Faced with Yu You’s message, she hesitated and ultimately chose not to join him for his vaccination, reflecting her uncertainty and shifting priorities.
Yi Yang brought a dynamic group of newly returned entrepreneurs to meet Zheng Shuyi, offering her an exclusive opportunity to interview them. Zheng Shuyi seized the moment, crafting a compelling new manuscript from these encounters. When Yu You reviewed the manuscript, he was captivated by its depth and insight. Meanwhile, Qin Shiyue, having read the manuscript, found herself reflecting on her own life goals, inspired by the stories and ambitions of the returnees.
Qin Shiyue returned to the University of Finance and Economics for a lecture, but it wasn't the academic content that captured Yu You’s attention—it was the sight of her chatting animatedly with a group of boys at her table. A pang of jealousy struck him. Determined to capture her focus, Yu You not only helped Qin Shiyue with the lecture material she struggled with but also extended a personal invitation to lunch at the cafeteria. Despite encountering a student who misinterpreted their interaction, Yu You chose not to clarify the misunderstanding. Meanwhile, Professor Li made a visit to Le'an's lab, praising its research environment but candidly noting that it might not offer much further assistance. He proposed a partnership with Dark Horse as a solution, suggesting it could address all of Le'an’s challenges.
Yi Yang extended a glittering invitation to Zheng Shuyi for EM's prestigious charity dinner, and with the tantalizing hint that Shi Yan would be there, Zheng Shuyi eagerly accepted. The night of the event, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as Zheng Shuyi arrived and locked eyes with Shi Yan. Their gazes met, heavy with unspoken tension, but neither made a move. Just then, Shi Yan's ex-girlfriend, Beilin, arrived with an air of familiarity and intent, casting a shadow over the evening. Misinterpreting their interaction as a prelude to rekindled romance, Zheng Shuyi’s jealousy flared. She retreated to the bar, her sorrow drowned in a cascade of drinks, as she grappled with the storm of emotions unleashed by the unexpected encounter.
Beilin's heart ached with regret over her decision to end things with Shi Yan, and she was determined to rekindle their relationship. But Shi Yan, resolute and unmoved, dismissed her attempts with a steely finality. To him, the past was irrevocably closed, and his heart now belonged to someone else.
Meanwhile, Yi Yang, his frustration barely contained, pressed Zheng Shuyi for an answer. He was desperate to understand why she couldn't give their potential a chance. Zheng Shuyi, torn and vulnerable, confessed that her heart was already occupied by someone she deeply cared about, and that their paths couldn’t align due to unresolved personal turmoil.
Shi Yan, in a frenzy, rushed to find Zheng Shuyi after hastily dismissing Beilin. To his shock, he discovered her, visibly drunk, attempting to scale a tree with Yi Yang's help. Concerned for her safety, Shi Yan urgently urged Zheng Shuyi to climb down. However, in her inebriated state, Zheng Shuyi playfully resisted, demanding that Shi Yan coax her down.
Reluctantly, Shi Yan relented, calling her "little fairy" as he sweetly persuaded her to descend. When Zheng Shuyi finally tumbled into his arms, she whimpered about Shi Yan's supposed manipulation and playfully bit him, her drunken antics on full display. Shi Yan, undeterred by her antics, turned to Yi Yang with a firm declaration. No matter what Zheng Shuyi desired, he would ensure she received it—something she sought only from him.
Shi Yan carefully helped Zheng Shuyi into the car, her slurred complaints about missing him filling the air. Despite his own lingering doubts about her feelings, Shi Yan couldn’t ignore his desire to reconnect. He took a decisive step and added Zheng Shuyi back on WeChat, hoping to bridge the gap between them.
When Zheng Shuyi awoke the next morning, she had no recollection of Shi Yan's tender care or his efforts to get her home safely. Meanwhile, Yi Yang’s relentless pursuit of Zheng Shuyi added to her turmoil, leaving her caught between conflicting emotions and unresolved feelings.
Xu Yuling’s ambitious Yunchuang special manuscript was harshly rejected by Tang Yi, igniting her frustration. Convinced that Zheng Shuyi had schemed behind her back to sabotage her efforts, Xu Yuling lashed out, accusing Zheng Shuyi of using underhanded tactics in her writing.
Stung by the unjust attack, Zheng Shuyi sought solace in a dinner with Bi Ruoshan. During their meal, Bi Ruoshan learned of Yi Yang’s determined pursuit of Zheng Shuyi and found herself hopeful for the passionate and driven Yi Yang. As the evening unfolded, the tension between past grievances and new prospects simmered beneath the surface.
When Shi Yan discovered that Yi Yang was relentless in his pursuit of Zheng Shuyi, frustration boiled over. Seeking an outlet, he called on Guan Ji for a drink. As they clinked glasses, Guan Ji urged Shi Yan to confront Zheng Shuyi directly about the situation. But Shi Yan, feeling abandoned by her silence, stubbornly believed that her lack of contact spoke volumes.
Meanwhile, Bi Ruoshan, who had dialed Guan Ji for a routine chat, was taken aback to find out he was drinking with Shi Yan. Despite her surprise, she reassured him that Zheng Shuyi wasn’t interested in Yi Yang. Her focus, she revealed, was firmly on advancing her career, leaving personal matters aside.
Zheng Shuyi initially planned to return the skateboard Yi Yang had given her, but curiosity about her drunken escapades got the better of her. Reluctantly, she agreed to Yi Yang's suggestion to go skateboarding. As they skated, Yi Yang revealed that during her drunken state, she had cursed Shi Yan and that it was Shi Yan who had taken her home. This revelation only deepened her unease, leaving her more conflicted than ever.
Fiona, Director Tian's daughter, had barely stepped off the plane before she was already making her way to Yunchuang, determined to see Shi Yan. Even her father couldn't rein in her stubbornness. Zheng Shuyi, steeling herself to finally confront Shi Yan and clear the air between them, was met with an unexpected sight—a girl trailing closely behind Shi Yan. In that moment, all her resolve crumbled. She turned and left, her heart heavy with doubt. The next day, Kong Nan revealed that the girl was Shi Yan's childhood sweetheart, freshly returned from abroad to support him at Yunchuang, leaving Zheng Shuyi even more uncertain of where she stood.
Guan Ji took Bi Ruoshan to the racecourse for a thrilling introduction to the new foal, while Guan Xiangcheng, unaware of the tension brewing, brought Tang Yi along, unintentionally stirring up trouble that could unravel his son's budding romance. Ironically, Guan Xiangcheng was a strong supporter of his son's relationship. Meanwhile, Bi Ruoshan spotted Shi Yan at the racecourse and wasted no time mocking him for allegedly blackmailing Zheng Shuyi. In a dramatic twist, she agreed to an interview with Xu Yuling, where Shi Yan fervently denied the accusation, declaring that Zheng Shuyi had always been the only one in his heart.
Rumors swirled through the industry: two major shareholders of Yunchuang were on the verge of withdrawing their stakes. Tang Yi was determined to uncover the truth, but Xu Yuling’s shallow interview with Yunchuang left too many questions unanswered. Left with no choice, Tang Yi pulled Xu Yuling from the project, her thoughts turning to Zheng Shuyi. She needed Zheng Shuyi to dive back into Yunchuang’s special report, hoping he could set aside his personal feelings for the sake of the story. Despite her growing concern for Shi Yan, Zheng Shuyi ultimately agreed, ready to uncover the secrets behind Yunchuang's potential collapse.
When Zheng Shuyi arrived at Yunchuang and saw Shi Yan, she could only muster up work-related conversation, keeping her emotions tightly in check. Sensing her distant professionalism, Shi Yan’s heart sank with disappointment. Frustrated, he turned away, cutting their exchange short. Downstairs, media reporters swarmed, eager to capture Shi Yan’s reaction to the rumored shareholder withdrawals. With a steely resolve, Shi Yan declared that neither he nor Yunchuang had any tolerance for anything less than absolute integrity. He emphasized that when faced with challenges, the right approach is to seek common ground and tackle problems together, not to abandon ship at the first sign of trouble.
Zheng Shuyi felt the coldness in Shi Yan's attitude and resigned herself to the painful reality that their relationship was beyond repair. Determined to move on, she took the drastic step of deleting his WeChat account, cutting off the last thread that connected them. Meanwhile, after a long day at work, Shi Yan found himself at Zheng Shuyi’s favorite seafood noodle restaurant, surrounded by memories of their time together. Struck by nostalgia and regret, he decided to reach out to her, only to discover with a shock that Zheng Shuyi had already deleted him from her life.
Qin Shiyue returned to the University of Finance and Economics for another day of classes, catching the eye of Yu Cheng, a classmate who had been smitten since their first meeting. Learning that Qin Shiyue was single, Yu Cheng decided to take his shot and confessed his feelings. With gentle but firm words, Qin Shiyue thanked him for his affection but made it clear she couldn’t accept his love. Unbeknownst to them, Yu You witnessed the entire scene from a distance. A wave of relief washed over him when Qin Shiyue turned down Yu Cheng.
Determined to act on his own feelings, Yu You led Qin Shiyue to the top of a nearby mountain. The air was thick with unspoken words as he confessed that, despite thinking they might not be a perfect match, he couldn’t help but like her. Qin Shiyue’s heart soared at his admission, and she reassured him that while they might not know each other fully yet, that was the beauty of it. She believed that true love didn’t require changing for one another but accepting each other’s quirks and habits. Yu You, moved by her perspective, agreed, and in that moment, they officially embarked on their journey together as a couple.
Yi Yang accompanied Zheng Shuyi to the mall to pick out suitcases, unaware that their seemingly ordinary shopping trip was about to take a dramatic turn. As they browsed the aisles, Qin Shiyue and Yu You, out on their own shopping excursion, spotted the pair. Seizing the opportunity to gather intel for her uncle Shi Yan, Qin Shiyue and Yu You pretended to run into Zheng Shuyi and Yi Yang by chance.
Feigning casual friendliness, they joined them for a meal, where Qin Shiyue secretly sent a flurry of messages to Shi Yan. She couldn’t resist teasing her uncle, showering Yi Yang with praise for his attentiveness and proactive nature, all while urging Shi Yan to stop hesitating and go after Zheng Shuyi before it was too late. The tension simmered beneath the surface as Qin Shiyue’s subtle machinations added a new layer of intrigue to the unfolding dynamics.
DramaZen's Opinion
It’s frustrating how the writers are shifting the narrative, making it seem like Shi Yan now has to take the initiative. She’s the one who messed up, but thanks to Shi Yan’s wall of silence, she’s left powerless to reach out. The only way they can even communicate now is if he breaks his own barriers, which feels so unfair. It’s like a dramatic twist that makes you want to scream in frustration! 🤦♂️
This situation is spiraling into a complete mess. A guy relentlessly chasing after the female lead, despite knowing she’s already in a relationship, is just shameless. It’s cringeworthy and desperate. The lack of communication between the leads is infuriating, and the so-called advice from the female lead’s friend is still downright terrible. Sometimes, it’s better to have no friend at all than to rely on someone who gives such bad guidance.
There's this relentless voice in my head screaming for me to stop watching, but I've already poured so much time and energy into this that I can't turn away now! At least the sweet, determined niece finally won over the professor after slowly, but surely, wearing down his defenses.
Also, I get that the leads are both supposed to be terrible at dating, but seriously? They’ve had it spelled out for them—both have been told straight up that the other loves them and how to fix their mess, yet they still refuse to budge. At this point, it feels like the director and scriptwriter are just toying with us, pushing us to the edge and making us tear our hair out!
