Only For Love- Episode 31-33 Recap
Last episode left off with Shuyi and Yi Yang bumbing into Qin Shiyue and Yu You while getting ready to eat a meal. Then we witnessed an awkward meal while Qin Shiyue secretly texted Shi Yan and told him he needed to make a move soon or he was going to lose out. Maybe in the next few episodes the writers will finally put an end to this off-and-on relationship. I'm hoping for a deep heart-to-heart conversation with the leads.
So, here we go once again as we are starting to tie up the last stretch of this drama....
After reading Qin Shiyue’s message, Shi Yan realized he still couldn’t let go of Zheng Shuyi. Ignoring the heavy rain, he drove alone to her apartment, his heart pounding with unresolved feelings. To his surprise, he spotted Zheng Shuyi stepping out, umbrella in hand, looking pale and weak. Concerned, he approached her and discovered that she was ill and heading to the hospital. Without hesitation, Shi Yan insisted on driving her there himself. Zheng Shuyi was bewildered by his sudden appearance, many questions swirling in her mind. But feeling unworthy of demanding answers, she could only hold back her tears as frustration and longing overwhelmed her.
At the hospital, Zheng Shuyi trembled at the thought of having her blood drawn. The fear of pain gripped her, but before she could voice her anxiety, Shi Yan stepped in, gently covering her eyes to shield her from the sight. His tender gesture made her heart flutter, reminding her once again of his hidden warmth. As Zheng Shuyi sat there, overwhelmed by the unexpected comfort he provided, she couldn’t have imagined this encounter happening today. Meanwhile, Shi Yan couldn’t help but think that if there hadn’t been any deception between them, Zheng Shuyi would be at his home right now, not in a cold hospital room.
Qin Shiyue revealed to Yu You her plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam at the University of Finance and Economics, and shyly asked if he could find time to tutor her. Yu You, thrilled at the chance to spend more time with her, eagerly agreed. Wanting to make the day even more special, he surprised her with a beautiful necklace as a Valentine's Day gift. Together, they shared an unforgettable day filled with warmth and budding affection, marking a new chapter in their relationship.
After ensuring Zheng Shuyi had seen the doctor and taken her medication, Shi Yan drove her home. Exhausted, Zheng Shuyi dozed off in the car, her breathing soft and steady. As they drove, Fiona called Shi Yan, suggesting dinner under the guise of introducing a chip expert, but Shi Yan hesitated, not committing to her invitation. When Zheng Shuyi stirred awake, she overheard the conversation and nervously asked if Shi Yan planned to go. Although she didn’t want him to, she couldn’t bring herself to say it outright. When Shi Yan pressed her on why she cared, she deflected with a playful mention that the almanac warned against traveling tomorrow, leaving Shi Yan quietly disappointed, sensing the unspoken tension between them Shuyi became uncomfortable.
Qin Shiyue called Zheng Shuyi, ready to arrange for time off work, only to discover that Zheng Shuyi was in the hospital receiving an infusion. Alarmed, she immediately informed Shi Yan, who, despite his own worries, rushed to the hospital to be by Zheng Shuyi's side. When Zheng Shuyi awoke, she was surprised to find Shi Yan sitting beside her. In response to her curious gaze, Shi Yan admitted with a mix of frustration and affection that she was the biggest disaster in his life. Teasingly, Zheng Shuyi pouted and claimed she was too weak to walk. Left with no other option, Shi Yan sighed and swept her into his arms, carrying her out of the hospital like a princess, their complicated feelings hanging in the air between them.
As they made their way out of the hospital, Zheng Shuyi opened up to Shi Yan, confessing that when they first met, she had been putting on an act. But over time, what started as a facade gradually became real, and somewhere along the way, her feigned feelings transformed into genuine affection. She admitted that although their beginning was far from perfect, her feelings for him were true, and all she wanted now was a perfect ending to their story.
Shi Yan listened to her heartfelt confession, and though he didn’t immediately offer forgiveness, he did acknowledge her words. With a measured tone, he told Zheng Shuyi that their future would depend on how she chose to move forward, leaving a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty.
After returning home, Zheng Shuyi impulsively deleted Shi Yan’s WeChat account in a moment of frustration. Almost immediately regretting it, she asked Qin Shiyue to send her Shi Yan’s contact again, quickly adding him back. Trying to break the ice, Zheng Shuyi playfully asked Shi Yan about his ideal girlfriend. Shi Yan described someone quiet, serious, and thoughtful—qualities Zheng Shuyi believed described her perfectly. But just as she was about to bask in this realization, Shi Yan sent her screenshots of her own cringeworthy, cheesy love messages from the past. Her confidence shattered in an instant, and Zheng Shuyi was left mortified, caught between laughter and utter embarrassment.
Director Tian and Director Zhang urged Shi Yan to pull out of Le'an, but Shi Yan stood firm, insisting that divesting now would be a mistake. He assured them that he and Chen Kang would resolve Le'an's issues quickly. Meanwhile, Yi Yang invited Zheng Shuyi to dinner, and she accepted, knowing she had something important to discuss with him. Over dinner, Yi Yang made it clear he wasn’t ready to give up on pursuing her. But Zheng Shuyi didn’t mince words—she told him that, regardless of whether she reconciled with Shi Yan, there would never be a chance for her and Yi Yang. Even if Yi Yang continued to pursue her, her decision was final.
Guan Xiangcheng and Guan Ji shared a quiet drink together, and in a rare moment of vulnerability, Guan Xiangcheng admitted his guilt for not being more attentive to his son during his childhood, believing it had left Guan Ji emotionally lacking. But Guan Ji reassured his father, revealing that ever since meeting Bi Ruoshan, he finally understood what he wanted out of life. With their relationship now solid, he was determined to excel in both his career and his love life. Guan Xiangcheng felt a deep sense of pride in his son's growth.
However, Guan Ji had noticed that Tang Yi was still hesitant to fully integrate into Guan Xiangcheng's social circle. Concerned that Tang Yi might feel pressured, Guan Ji asked his father to give them space to talk things through. Guan Xiangcheng relayed this request to Tang Yi, but she remained cautious, unable to commit just yet, leaving the conversation unresolved.
Qin Lezhi orchestrated a golden opportunity for Yue Xingzhou to interview at Yunchang, setting the stage for what should have been a pivotal moment. Armed with confidence, Yue Xingzhou arrived, only to face an unexpected twist: Shi Yan's prominent presence at the interview. The sight of Shi Yan threw him off balance, amplifying his nerves and undermining his performance. As a result, the interview didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped, leaving Yue Xingzhou’s future at Yunchang hanging in the balance.
Zheng Shuyi threw herself into Yunchuang's special report, even dedicating her weekends to working overtime with Shi Yan. However, when she arrived at Yunchuang, she was met with a cold reality—Shi Yan was buried in work and barely acknowledged her presence. Feeling increasingly ignored, Zheng Shuyi’s frustration mounted, but Shi Yan, having noticed her growing boredom, decided to let her leave. Unfazed, Chen Sheng stepped in with a thoughtful gesture—he secured two movie tickets and took Zheng Shuyi out for a much-needed escape, transforming her frustrating day into an unexpected adventure.
Shi Yan and Zheng Shuyi decided to catch a movie together, only to run into Fiona by chance at the cinema. Zheng Shuyi’s eyes narrowed as she noticed the easy familiarity between Fiona and Shi Yan, a spark of jealousy igniting within her. Determined to make her feelings known, she subtly displayed her possessiveness, each glance and gesture a testament to her unease. After the film, Fiona extended an invitation to Shi Yan for dinner, but Shi Yan declined, citing Zheng Shuyi's discomfort with socializing as the reason. The tension between the three was palpable, making it clear that this unexpected encounter had stirred up more than just casual conversation.
After getting rid of one pest, Shi Yan's gaze darkened as he watched Yi Yang extend a dinner invitation to Zheng Shuyi. Even though Zheng Shuyi declined, Shi Yan couldn't shake off a pang of jealousy. To reassure him, Zheng Shuyi explained that Yi Yang and Yu You were merely acquaintances, and their brief encounter while shopping for suitcases hadn't led to anything romantic. Despite her reassurances, Shi Yan’s concern lingered. Determined to keep track, he asked Zheng Shuyi for her hotel and flight details for her upcoming business trip. The stakes were high, and Shi Yan's desire to stay close to her was unmistakably clear.
Le'an was in turmoil, with morale plummeting and Chen Kang feeling increasingly helpless. Shi Yan, seeing the desperation, took Chen Kang aside and delivered a powerful message: only a clear-headed and resolute leader could restore stability. He expressed his unwavering belief that Chen Kang had the strength to guide Le'an through this crisis. Shi Yan also acknowledged that both Yunchuang and Le'an were still emerging entities, destined to face setbacks. However, he urged Chen Kang not to fear these inevitable falls but to face them head-on with courage. Fueled by Shi Yan's motivating words, Chen Kang found a renewed sense of purpose and determination, ready to confront the challenges ahead.
Qin Shiyue resumed her role at the financial agency, and Zheng Shuyi seized the chance to invite her on a business trip. Their trip proved successful, and the pair took advantage of their time together to explore the stunning sights of Qionghai. Meanwhile, Shi Yan, discovering that Zheng Shuyi and Qin Shiyue were unwinding together away from the office, found himself overwhelmed with longing. Unable to keep his feelings bottled up any longer, he couldn’t help but express how much he missed Zheng Shuyi, his emotions laid bare as she enjoyed her time out of town.
Yue Xingzhou faced the crushing blow of being fired for his work errors, sinking into a haze of sorrow and alcohol as he lamented missing Zheng Shuyi. When Qin Lezhi arrived at Yue Xingzhou's apartment, he was met with a scene of disarray and unspoken regret. Qin Lezhi, angered and disillusioned, confronted Yue Xingzhou with accusations of ingratitude. He declared that Yue Xingzhou's true passion was not love but the pursuit of wealth and a promising future—implying that Yue would be swayed by anyone who could offer him those desires.
Qin Lezhi's departure from Yunchuang was abrupt, and as fate would have it, she ran into Shi Yan in the elevator. With a hint of bitterness, she revealed that her ex, Yue Xingzhou, was still pining for Zheng Shuyi. Shi Yan’s eyes darkened as he confessed his own frustrations, warning Qin Lezhi that if she were to confront Zheng Shuyi in her current state, he would not hesitate to hold her accountable for past grievances. The tension crackled in the air, hinting at unresolved conflicts and looming confrontations.
As Shi Yan was buried in work, he asked Master Fan to pick up Zheng Shuyi from the airport. But when Master Fan left, he stumbled upon the drunken Yue Xingzhou stumbling towards Zheng Shuyi. A fierce confrontation ensued, with Master Fan dealing a decisive blow to Yue Xingzhou before reporting the incident to Shi Yan. Alarmed, Shi Yan rushed from a banquet, arriving just in time to overhear Yue Xingzhou's remorseful confession about regretting giving up Zheng Shuyi. Fueled by a mix of anger and passion, Shi Yan whisked Zheng Shuyi home, where their emotions erupted in a deep, fervent kiss. He then left her at home with a promise to return after handling urgent work matters.
As Shi Yan stepped out, he encountered Yue Xingzhou once more and issued a chilling warning: stay away from Zheng Shuyi, or face the consequences. The menacing tone in Shi Yan's voice left no room for doubt, causing Yue Xingzhou to retreat in haste, his chances of rekindling anything with Zheng Shuyi growing slimmer by the minute.
When Shi Yan finally returned from work, Zheng Shuyi was stunned to find that his demeanor had completely transformed under the influence of alcohol. With a surprising shift in character, Shi Yan, now visibly more affectionate, was coaxed by Zheng Shuyi into calling her "baby." Desperate to keep this warm side of Shi Yan from vanishing once he sobered up, Zheng Shuyi implored him to remain as tender as he was in his inebriated state. Shi Yan, still inebriated, reassured her with an intense gaze, declaring that he cherished every facet of her, no matter how she appeared. To seal his claim, he playfully nipped at her, leaving a lingering mark as a testament to his affection and his reluctance to revert to his usual coldness.
After a night of drinking, Shi Yan prepared to leave Zheng Shuyi's house, but not before she playfully changed the contact name on his phone to something deeply personal and affectionate. The next morning, as Qin Shiyue was having breakfast, she glanced at Shi Yan's phone and burst out laughing at the sight of "Kiss the Little Baby" flashing on the caller ID. Her disgusted reaction was met with puzzled looks from the family. When pressed, Shi Yan sheepishly admitted that it was his girlfriend calling and made a lighthearted promise to bring her over for a visit another day. The revelation left everyone both amused and curious about the new dynamics in Shi Yan’s life.
Tang Yi noticed Zheng Shuyi's newfound joy after her business trip and, upon learning that she was in love again, advised her not to let romance interfere with work. Curious about Tang Yi's own romantic prospects, Zheng Shuyi encouraged him to pursue someone he liked with determination. Soon after, Guan Ji reached out to Tang Yi for a meeting. During their conversation, Guan Ji revealed that his father, Guan Xiangcheng, held Tang Yi in high regard and had always deeply cared for him. Tang Yi's hesitation about accepting Guan Xiangcheng's affection stemmed from a fear of not being able to repay his kindness.
Guan Ji reassured Tang Yi that his father had never expected repayment but had instead provided him with immense love and the best upbringing. Now, Guan Xiangcheng wanted to offer that same love to Tang Yi. Guan Ji urged Tang Yi to consider this opportunity and give Guan Xiangcheng a chance. Reflecting on this heartfelt discussion, Tang Yi resolved to address his feelings with Guan Xiangcheng and offer a sincere explanation.
The Dark Horse Technology team was still grappling with immaturity, and Bruce faced significant challenges that would require both time and assistance to overcome. After much contemplation, Yi Yang approached Chen Kang with a bold proposal: acquire Le'an.
Chen Kang, still bitter about Le'an's previous acquisition by Dark Horse, was initially resistant. However, Yi Yang delivered a compelling argument: to secure a prosperous future and seize new opportunities, it was crucial to set aside past grievances and collaborate. By uniting their efforts, Yi Yang believed they could turn their combined strengths into a formidable force for success.
Shi Yan arrived at the office to pick up Zheng Shuyi, but she had other plans—she was heading to the airport to fetch Bi Ruoshan, who had just returned from a business trip. As Zheng Shuyi arrived at the airport, she was stunned to discover that Song Lelan was there too. Overcome with excitement, she rushed to get a photo with the celebrity, leaving Shi Yan perplexed by the sudden shift in focus.
Finally, Zheng Shuyi managed to snap a coveted picture with Song Lelan, reveling in her fan moment. As soon as Song Lelan departed, Zheng Shuyi and Bi Ruoshan dived into juicy gossip about the star’s private life. Zheng Shuyi, skeptical of the swirling rumors about Song Lelan having a secret child, boldly wagered that if the rumors proved true, she would perform a dramatic "chop" on the spot. The stakes were high, and the gossip was just beginning.
Zheng Shuyi felt a mix of relief and trepidation, grateful that Shi Yan stood by her despite the trials of deception and lies they had faced. But beneath her relief lingered a gnawing fear—what if one day Shi Yan suddenly decided to alter her life path or, worse, leave her altogether? She bared her soul to Shi Yan, confessing her deep-seated fears and pleading for honesty, admitting that being deceived once had left its mark. With sincerity in his eyes, Shi Yan reassured her. He acknowledged her insecurity and firmly declared that the past was behind them. Zheng Shuyi was his present and future, the girlfriend he wanted. He promised that their relationship was genuine and untainted by any external influences. For Shi Yan, Zheng Shuyi was his one and only, and their love was as real as it could be.
Today, Shi Yan went above and beyond to make Zheng Shuyi’s day special. As he picked her up from work, he arrived with her favorite coffee in hand and a beautifully wrapped Valentine's Day gift. Zheng Shuyi, still stung by their missed celebrations over New Year's and the Spring Festival due to a misunderstanding, playfully chided Shi Yan for only catching up on Valentine’s Day. But Shi Yan wasn’t done yet. As dawn broke the next morning, he surprised Zheng Shuyi with an array of thoughtful gifts, each one more charming than the last. Zheng Shuyi’s heart swelled with joy, her earlier frustrations melting away in the warmth of Shi Yan’s heartfelt gestures.
After a long day, Shi Yan took Zheng Shuyi out for a cozy dinner. Their evening was interrupted when a young girl deliberately spilled something on Shi Yan’s clothes and boldly asked for his contact information. Zheng Shuyi’s jealousy flared as she watched the entire scene unfold. As they continued their meal, Shi Yan received a call from his sister, Song Lelan. She was curious about Qin Shiyue’s whereabouts and learned that Shi Yan was out with his girlfriend. Eager for Zheng Shuyi to meet his sister, Shi Yan urged her to say hello. Unaware that Song Lelan was a renowned idol, Zheng Shuyi declined the invitation politely, believing it to be a casual request.
After dinner, Zheng Shuyi inquired further about Shi Yan’s sister and was astonished to learn that Song Lelan wasn’t involved in business but was instead immersed in her high-profile career as a singer and dancer.
When Zheng Shuyi reviewed Qin Shiyue's financial report, she couldn’t help but admire her impressive progress. Qin Shiyue graciously credited her success to the excellent guidance from her younger aunt, Zheng Shuyi. However, Xu Yuling overheard their conversation and jumped to conclusions, suspecting that Zheng Shuyi was involved with a wealthy older man. Driven by curiosity, Xu Yuling began probing into Qin Shiyue’s family, wrongly assuming that Zheng Shuyi’s uncle was a wealthy benefactor. The rumors quickly spread, reaching Zheng Shuyi. Furious at the false gossip, she confronted Xu Yuling, accusing her of plagiarism, stealing interviews, and deliberately spreading malicious rumors to tarnish her reputation. While Xu Yuling acknowledged a personal vendetta, she vehemently denied orchestrating the rumors, leaving Zheng Shuyi determined to uncover the truth and defend her honor.
DramaZen's Opinion
So far, we owe a huge thanks to Qin Shiyue for tirelessly working to bring these two stubborn leads back together. Honestly, Qin Shiyue is the real MVP of this drama. I would have much rather watched her romance with Yu You take center stage as the main plot. But this episode has rekindled my hope—maybe, just maybe, we’ll finally get to see some real romance between the leads from here on out.
It's almost comical how perfectly matched her ex and the fake niece are. He’s busy blaming her for his losses, losing Zheng Shuyi and his job, without ever facing the fact that he chose to throw away the woman he claimed to love in favor of chasing money and prestige. Not to mention, he couldn’t even keep his composure in a job interview when faced with her new boyfriend.
Meanwhile, she’s pointing fingers at him for being selfish and driven solely by ambition, conveniently ignoring that she played this game herself, using his ambitions to her advantage. She also failed to foresee that her deceptions would eventually unravel, leading to her inevitable downfall once he uncovered the truth.
Zheng Shuyi's co-workers are truly the worst. It’s infuriating how they spread vicious rumors without bothering to get the facts straight. This kind of malicious gossip never ends well and only drags everyone down into chaos!
