Amidst a Snowstorm of Love- Episode 10-12 Recap
Over the weekend, Yin Guo made a surprise appearance in Hexin, catching Lin Yiyang completely off guard. Startled, he quickly urged her to stay put and not move an inch. Yin Guo, clutching a cup of coffee, waited in the biting cold wind. Soon, Lin Yiyang came into view, sprinting towards her in just a thin layer of clothing. His excitement got the better of him, triggering a fit of coughing that left him hoarse and nearly voiceless, tugging at Yin Guo's heartstrings.
Seeing the concern etched on her face, Lin Yiyang pulled her into a tight embrace, reassuring her with a gentle whisper that he was fine. He had kept his condition from her, not wanting her to worry, fearing it might ruin her mood or disrupt her training. It wasn't until Yin Guo inspected the medicine he'd taken and confirmed he was fever-free that she finally began to relax.
Lin Yiyang held her hand tightly, and when a smile finally graced Yin Guo's lips, she quietly confessed that she'd discovered a silver lining to their long-distance relationship. "Every time we meet," she said, "it feels like the first time all over again." Lin Yiyang couldn't help but smile, leaning in closer. "We've only just been together for four days," he murmured, savoring the sweetness of the moment.
When they arrived at the apartment, the darkness was almost eerie—the living room light had gone out, casting the space in deep shadow. As soon as Yin Guo stepped inside, she stumbled right into a large box, nearly losing her balance. By the time they reached Lin Yiyang's room, it was clear things were a bit chaotic. The small space was cluttered with books and clothes scattered haphazardly across the floor.
Lin Yiyang glanced at his bed, debating whether to change the sheets. He hesitated, worried that doing so in front of Yin Guo might give the wrong impression. After a brief moment of indecision, he decided it was worth the risk and started changing them. Just then, his roommate emerged from his room, spotting Yin Guo. Clearly intrigued, he tried to strike up a conversation, but Lin Yiyang wasn’t having it. He pushed his roommate aside, anger simmering beneath the surface. "Your box just hit my girlfriend. Move it away, now," he snapped. Yin Guo emerged from the bathroom a moment later, only to bump into the same box that had now been relocated to the bathroom door. The tension in the air was almost palpable as she awkwardly sidestepped it, sharing a sheepish glance with Lin Yiyang, who was doing his best to keep his frustration in check.
Lin Yiyang had tidied up the room and replaced the sheets with fresh ones. The chair was broken, so he asked Yin Guo to sit on the bed while he stood nearby. But Yin Guo patted the space next to her, inviting him to join her. With his voice still hoarse, Yin Guo suggested they chat via WeChat. Lin Yiyang took her phone and connected it to the WiFi. As they sat side by side, legs brushing against each other, Yin Guo couldn't help but think, This is the only place in the world that matters right now.
Noticing a scented candle on the table, Yin Guo remarked that the scent didn’t seem like the one Lin Yiyang usually used. He explained that Wu Wei had bought it because he’d been sick for several days and didn’t want the room to smell bad. The sweet aroma filled the air as Lin Yiyang leaned back against the wall, admitting he was too tired to keep typing. He handed her a pillow and suggested she rest against it.
Yin Guo, concerned that his voice might not recover quickly, was about to say something when Lin Yiyang gently raised his hand. "Who said I wanted to chat with you?" he teased. But just as he touched her hand, he quickly pulled back, realizing how cold his fingers were. He hadn’t dressed warmly enough earlier, and the chill lingered. When Yin Guo had messaged him, he was downstairs throwing away the garbage. Worried she’d be waiting at the train station, he hadn’t even gone back upstairs to grab a jacket before rushing to meet her.
Lin Yiyang gently pressed his lips against Yin Guo's cheek, a tender touch that sent a flutter of nerves through her. Feeling a bit uneasy, she pulled out her phone, suggesting they book a hotel. But Lin Yiyang met her gaze and said softly, "No need. We're not doing anything—I just want to be with you."
As he searched for a movie, his leg accidentally brushed against hers. Noticing the bruises from where she had bumped into the box earlier, a wave of concern washed over him. Without a second thought, he grabbed the offending box and placed it right in front of his roommate's door, then knocked loudly. When his roommate emerged and promptly stumbled into the box, Lin Yiyang didn’t hide his satisfaction, but his focus remained on Yin Guo. "Did it hurt?" he asked, his eyes full of concern, as if her pain was his own.
Lin Yiyang gently pressed an ice pack against the bruises on Yin Guo's legs, his touch both tender and careful. As night fell, he suggested, "I'll sleep on the inside, and you can have the outer side. That way, it'll be easier for you to get to the bathroom if you need to." Climbing into bed with a blanket, he settled in, turning to face the wall as he softly said, "Good night."
Yin Guo, touched by his thoughtfulness, shared half of her quilt with him and whispered her own goodnight before lying down. Feeling a bit restless, she turned to her side and pulled out her phone, starting a quiet conversation with her best friend under the covers to avoid disturbing him. She couldn't contain her excitement as she shared the news—she had agreed to Lin Yiyang’s pursuit and was now at his place.
The next morning, Lin Yiyang’s alarm went off, pulling Yin Guo from her sleep. Reaching across her to silence it, his arm brushed against her, fully waking her up. "Sleep a little longer," he murmured, getting up quietly so she could rest. But as soon as he left the room, Yin Guo quickly sat up, grabbed her phone, and snapped a picture, capturing the moment and the memories it held.
Lin Yiyang made a quick run to the nearby supermarket, picking up all the toiletries Yin Guo might need. He even scalded them with hot water before gently waking her up. After she freshened up, he led her to his billiard room, a place she hadn't seen before. As they entered, Lin Yiyang walked straight to the counter and instructed Sun Zhou and Sun Yao, "Clean up the back room and make sure your sister-in-law gets some breakfast."
With a casual tone, Lin Yiyang explained to Yin Guo, "Sun Zhou usually manages this place. When I bought it, I paid six months' rent upfront. But with the relentless snowstorm and power outages, business tanked, and I lost a lot of money. Still, even during that rough time, I met you." He paused, a soft smile touching his lips. "That day at the Chinese Ballroom, I just wanted to treat you to a nice dinner."
Yin Guo chuckled, teasing Lin Yiyang about how he must be keeping up his peak performance by practicing in secret. Lin Yiyang grinned and replied, “With so many people around, how could it be a secret?” He casually mixed her oatmeal and then popped a piece of dark chocolate into his mouth. When Yin Guo looked at him expectantly, he broke off a piece and playfully held it near her lips. Just as she was about to take a bite, he mischievously dropped it into her bowl instead.
The oatmeal was a bit too much for Yin Guo, and she left some in the bowl. Without a word, Lin Yiyang finished off the leftovers, not missing a beat. Yin Guo felt a mix of embarrassment and happiness, thinking to herself how even her parents wouldn’t eat her leftovers. But here was Lin Yiyang, making her feel more cherished with each small gesture.
Lin Yiyang had planned to return to Hull this week to train with Yin Guo, but a sudden illness threw a wrench in those plans. While they were in the ball room, a group of players kept approaching Yin Guo under the pretense of getting water, each one enthusiastically calling her “sister-in-law.” Overwhelmed by the attention, Yin Guo barely knew how to respond. Sensing her discomfort, Lin Yiyang stepped in, rescuing her from the crowd and guiding her into a private room to set up a game.
As they prepared to play, Yin Guo brought up Liu Xiran, an old player who used to compete in Dongxin City. Lin Yiyang gave her a knowing look and warned her to watch out—veteran players can still be dangerous. But Yin Guo’s confidence flared as she shot back, “Your girlfriend is very powerful,” before executing a flawless shot. Lin Yiyang couldn’t help but smile, pride evident in his eyes. "I know," he said warmly, "I've watched all your game videos."
After their practice session, Lin Yiyang treated Yin Guo to a lavish meal, ordering enough dishes to fill the table. Yin Guo couldn't help but feel it was too much. As they ate, Lin Yiyang served her the lobster meat and then happily polished off her leftover vegetable salad. Amused, Yin Guo asked, "Don’t you find it awkward, always eating my leftovers?" Lin Yiyang looked up with a grin. "What’s awkward about it? You’re family."
As they talked, Lin Yiyang mentioned his younger brother, a boy he took care of for two years before he was adopted. Yin Guo noticed the flicker of sadness in his eyes and realized how much he must miss him. But at that time, Lin Yiyang had no other choice. Seeing the heaviness in his gaze, Yin Guo’s heart ached for him. Knowing he had an interview coming up, Lin Yiyang took Yin Guo to a nearby hotel, the unspoken bond between them growing even stronger with each passing moment.
Concerned that Yin Guo hadn’t slept well, Lin Yiyang booked a room for her, asking her to rest while he took care of things. Yin Guo, however, knew the reality of Lin Yiyang’s financial situation. The billiard room had been bleeding money, and as a student, she didn’t want him spending unnecessarily, so she offered to split the cost. When Lin Yiyang refused, she playfully pointed out that without a special job, it’s tough to avoid being a broke student.
Hearing this, Lin Yiyang decided to reveal a secret he’d been keeping—his family’s financial status. He sent her a screenshot of his bank accounts, showing balances that totaled over 50,000 euros across three cards. Surprised, Yin Guo sent back a screenshot of her own account, showing a balance of just over 20,000 euros, adding that if Lin Yiyang ever needed help, he should come to her first. Lin Yiyang looked at her message, a soft smile spreading across his face. With a mix of affection and admiration, he shook his head and murmured, "Silly girl."
Lin Yiyang abruptly abandoned his interview and rushed back to the hotel, his mind solely focused on Yin Guo. Bursting into the room, he swept her into his arms and settled her onto his lap, unable to bear the thought of her waiting alone. Before Yin Guo could utter another word, Lin Yiyang's lips found hers in a fervent kiss, his passion undeniable.
Growing up under Meng Xiaodong’s protective gaze, few boys dared approach Yin Guo. Lin Yiyang, with a teasing smile, remarked that he’d have to thank Meng Xiaodong someday. Curious about Lin Yiyang’s past, Yin Guo probed further, but he had no secrets to hide. As Yin Guo settled in, Lin Yiyang carried her to the bed, his gentle care evident.
While lying there, Yin Guo’s gaze fell upon Lin Yiyang’s compass necklace, a graduation gift from years ago. Its lack of a pointer symbolized a directionless past. Just then, Lin Yiyang’s phone buzzed with a call from a friend considering a PhD, but Lin Yiyang’s response was clear: he had no intention of further studies—his girlfriend was here with him now. As they lay together, Lin Yiyang wrapped Yin Guo in his embrace, his grip firm and reassuring. Yin Guo, feigning sleepiness, allowed Lin Yiyang to tuck her under the covers before he left to freshen up, his thoughts completely consumed by her presence.
At around seven in the evening, Yin Guo stirred awake, her eyes immediately drawn to Lin Yiyang lounging on the sofa, his torso bare and glistening. Noticing her wakefulness, Lin Yiyang quickly slipped on his shirt and handed her the phone, his eyes glinting with anticipation. He then gently coaxed her out of bed, eager to take her out for a meal. With a playful smile, Yin Guo teased, “Is eating all you can think of?” Lin Yiyang leaned in with a mischievous grin, causing Yin Guo to instinctively take a half-step back, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
After dinner, Lin Yiyang turned into an enthusiastic tour guide, leading Yin Guo and the group on a charming bus ride. As he animatedly introduced the city’s landmarks, his charisma was palpable. When the bus finally stopped, Lin Yiyang whisked Yin Guo away for a romantic star-gazing detour. They strolled to a serene bridge, where Lin Yiyang tenderly zipped up her jacket, ensuring she stayed warm. Feeling the pressure of Yin Guo’s billiard's practice and wanting to make their time together last, Lin Yiyang had already arranged for a train ticket back to Hull the next day. He promised her a few extra hours of travel, cherishing every moment they could spend together.
Yin Guo's curiosity about Lin Yiyang's presence at her game led to a peculiar reaction from him. He hesitated, hinting that his attendance might hinge on unpredictable circumstances. This elusive response piqued her interest further, prompting her to inquire about his zodiac sign. Lin Yiyang, revealing himself as an Aquarius born on February 12, sparked a wave of recollections for Yin Guo. She remembered that Lin Yiyang had previously mentioned his birthday during a casual ramen outing—a detail she had overlooked at the time. Yin Guo voiced her regret over missing the chance to celebrate his birthday, a sentiment Lin Yiyang quickly soothed. He reassured her that their shared moments, like their noodle dinners, were precious and that missing a specific date was less significant compared to their ongoing connection.
Lin Yiyang’s response, though initially vague, reflected a deeper, more intricate understanding of their relationship. It underlined how personal milestones and seemingly small details intertwine to form meaningful memories. By focusing on their shared experiences rather than a single date, Lin Yiyang demonstrated a profound appreciation for the bond they were nurturing.
As Lin Yiyang prepared to leave, the air crackled with the bittersweet tension of their farewell. Yin Guo clung to him, her hug filled with reluctant warmth. Lin Yiyang, his heart heavy, leaned in for a kiss, but she playfully dodged him each time, a mischievous glint in her eyes. When the car he’d arranged for Yin Guo finally arrived, he escorted her to it. Just as she was about to roll up the window, she called him over and, with a bold move, sealed their goodbye with a kiss of her own.
Watching the car drive away, Lin Yiyang felt a pang of longing. He smiled to himself, a mix of satisfaction and melancholy. Unable to bear the thought of taking the train, he opted for a bus on his return journey. By the time he reached Hexin, night had fallen deeply. Opting for convenience over comfort, he decided to spend the night at the billiard room rather than his apartment.
Still battling the remnants of his illness, Lin Yiyang’s throat felt raw and sore again. He pulled out a vegetable salad from the fridge and ate it absentmindedly. As he nibbled, a message from Yin Guo popped up on WeChat. Her gratitude for his help was heartfelt, and she mentioned how understanding the local players' strategies had become clearer thanks to him. Lin Yiyang replied succinctly, valuing her progress more than words could express. Yin Guo, noticing his terse responses, teased him about typing less and suggested a video call. Lin Yiyang agreed, but as the connection faltered and the screen froze, he quickly shut down the video and reconnected to WiFi. The moment the call resumed, Lin Yiyang’s throat seized with discomfort, and he coughed uncontrollably. Panicked that she might hear, he covered the receiver, feigned a network issue, and ended the call, masking his struggle with a facade of technical difficulties.
Yin Guo, feeling a pang of sympathy for Lin Yiyang's relentless back-and-forth efforts, decided to do something special. She asked for his hand-drawn sketches to use as screensavers, a personal touch that would keep him close even when apart. Alongside this, she sent him her game schedule, hinting at her hope that Lin Yiyang might make a surprise appearance if she made it to the quarter-finals. The upcoming competition, her first official professional match, was set for next Saturday.
While Yin Guo was hopeful and upbeat about the timing, Lin Yiyang remained uncharacteristically silent. Memories of being driven out of Dongxin City by Mr. He resurfaced, leaving him in a turmoil of conflicting emotions. After a prolonged pause, he finally replied, focusing on his own practice and testing out new cues.
Yin Guo, with a touch of playful optimism, commented on the quality of his billiards room and praised the expertise of the boss. Her smile and confidence were a stark contrast to Lin Yiyang’s inner struggle, yet he couldn't help but be touched by her determination and support.
Lin Yiyang, with a serious tone, suddenly confided in Yin Guo, "Xiao Guo'er, if I mess up in the future, promise me you'll give me a chance to make things right, okay?" The weight of his words hung in the air as Yin Guo pondered his request. With a smile, she assured him of her patience and understanding, promising that she'd calm her frustrations with delicious food and a touch of a bunny emoji.
As Yin Guo’s reassuring words sank in, Lin Yiyang felt a wave of relief. Energized by the newfound clarity, he watched as Yin Guo, using the charger he had gifted her, ventured into the billiards room for an extra practice session. There, Chengyan inquired about Lin Yiyang’s situation, prompting Yin Guo to shoot off a quick WeChat message to him. Lin Yiyang's lack of an immediate reply left Yin Guo in suspense, her curiosity piqued. Despite her initial urge to follow up, she hesitated, choosing instead to let the moment linger, leaving her with a sense of anticipation for what might come next.
Lin Yiyang dialed Wu Wei's number, urgently asking him to head to the billiards room to find Yin Guo. With Chengyan in tow, he feared that Yin Guo might misinterpret the situation. Meanwhile, Xie Yaoyao and her team, who were also gearing up for the competition, had arrived in Hull. Lin Yiyang generously covered their hotel expenses and rented the billiards room for their practice. He reassured them not to worry about the costs and to focus solely on their game. When Lin Yiyang updated Yin Guo about Chengyan’s pursuit, a tinge of jealousy sparked in her eyes. He reassured her, sharing that from the moment he met her, he was captivated in a way he had never experienced before.
Just then, Wu Wei arrived at the billiards room. After a quick greeting to Chengyan, Wu Wei made a point of introducing Yin Guo with a smirk, "This is your sixth brother's wife." Chengyan, caught off guard, blurted out a hasty “hello” before darting off, leaving a flustered Yin Guo and an amused Lin Yiyang behind. Wu Wei leaned in and told Yin Guo with a teasing smile, "Lin Yiyang was a heartthrob from the start—there was no shortage of admirers. But you? You're different. From the moment he saw you, he was smitten." Yin Guo's heart fluttered at the revelation.
Later, as they dug into crispy fried chicken, Wu Wei regaled her with stories of Lin Yiyang's former suitors. Each tale stoked Yin Guo’s growing irritation, to the point where she bit into a slice of lemon with frustrated intensity.
The game began, and though Lin Yiyang wasn't physically present, he was glued to the live feed, keeping a close eye on Yin Guo and Uncle Qian. As Yin Guo sailed past the group stage, the congratulations poured in. Exhausted and hungry, she sought refuge in a quiet corner with a box of fruit and plugged her phone in to charge, slipping on her headphones to drown out the noise.
Just then, Lin Yiyang appeared, causing Jiang Yang to raise an eyebrow in surprise. "You’re back?" he remarked. Lin Yiyang simply nodded and scanned the room until his eyes landed on Yin Guo. Jiang Yang couldn’t help but marvel at Lin Yiyang’s willingness to overcome his pride just to witness her success.
DramaZen's Opinion
They're crammed into a tiny bed—hilarious yet so endearing! Leo is the epitome of a gentleman, so considerate that he never overwhelms her, always attentive to her every need. He's the ideal boyfriend, a green flag through and through, even if he's not one for endless chatter! Their playful squabbles are just the right amount of charming. Honestly, this drama has quickly become one of my favorites of the year, right up there with Hidden Love for the romance tag. Leo and the female lead bring an exhilarating rush of first-love butterflies. Their adorable awkwardness, shyness, and hopeful attempts at wooing each other make me feel like I’m right there with them, experiencing every moment firsthand. What phenomenal acting!
Leo radiates maturity, charm, and an irresistible allure. I’m practically tempted to reach through the screen and bite him! And the female lead? She’s simply delightful—cute and lovable beyond words. Together, they’re a dynamite couple, and their cuteness is off the charts!
It’s refreshing to see them enjoying a different kind of date for once—no endless eating this time! 😂 How does someone with such a 'small appetite' manage to devour so much food?
Guo is still adorably shy, and even though her bestie is urging her to dive headfirst into this hot green flag 🥰, I totally get her need to take things slow. After all, they’ve only just met and are still navigating each other’s worlds. Ironically, though, they’re drawn together like magnets, as if they’ve known each other forever! Lin Yiyang, the one who fell first, has been unwaveringly intense from the start, unable to resist these new, intense feelings. Yet, he’s incredibly patient, recognizing that Guo isn’t quite ready for the same level of intimacy. His surprise kisses and warm cuddles are his way of constantly reminding her of his affection.
What’s truly heartwarming is that Guo took the initiative this time and was genuinely reluctant to leave him—so cute and endearing!
Lin Yiyang is the epitome of the perfect boyfriend! He set aside his pride and everything else just to be there for her. How could he possibly get any more perfect? This level of devotion is absolutely unmatched!
