He’s ALIVE?! The Revenge Game Just Got Personal

Hello, Buried Hearts fans! 🌊 Just when we thought this drama couldn’t get any more intense, Episode 3 comes in with assassination attempts, stolen billions, secret tattoos, and a not-so-dead Dong-ju! Buckle up, because this episode took us on a wild ride!

We open with Dong-ju, bloody and bruised, casually taking a call on an assassin’s phone. (Like, sir, are you okay???) Turns out, the mystery caller is Cheon Gu-ho, one of Yeom Jang-seon’s men, and Dong-ju wastes no time confronting him.

Things escalate fast when Dong-ju drops the biggest bombshell of the episode: he’s stolen 39 billion won from the national patriotic slush fund! 😱

He tells Jang-seon, “Let me live, and I’ll return the money.” Classic Dong-ju, always playing the game five steps ahead. Jang-seon begrudgingly agrees, and Dong-ju actually kisses Eun-nam on his way out. (EXCUSE ME? What was that?!!).

But back home, things get even more suspicious when he finds a tracker under his car. (Who’s watching him?!)

Enter Myeong Tae-geum, hacker extraordinaire and Dong-ju’s secret weapon.

We learn that Dong-ju had installed a hacking program on Jang-seon’s laptop (sneaky king!), meaning he can see all of Jang-seon’s transactions—including the slush fund password. 😈

Using this info, he tricks Jang-seon into logging into his account, and boom—Dong-ju has full access. (This man is dangerously smart, and I love it!)

Meanwhile, Chairman Cha invites Dong-ju to a family lunch (because what’s a little betrayal between family, right? 🤡).

And then, in walks Eun-nam… sporting a BRUISED FACE. 😡😡😡

But before we can be too worried, Hui-cheol limps in with a broken foot. So, uh, let’s just say Eun-nam can defendherself! 👏👏

However, in the middle of this chaotic family gathering, Hui-cheol grabs Eun-nam’s wrist, breaking her bracelet—revealing a secret tattoo that matches Dong-ju’s.

Gasp! Hui-cheol instantly recognizes it, and suddenly the whole room is thick with tension. Chairman Cha notices EVERYTHING and promptly kicks Dong-ju out. (Rude!)

But let’s be honest, did Dong-ju actually leave?

Of course not.

Because what’s a Buried Hearts episode without a little forbidden romance? 😏

Later that night, Dong-ju sneaks back in and finds Eun-nam. He hugs her, holds her, and gives her a disposable phone(secret communication activated!).

Meanwhile, Eun-nam’s parents try to convince her to stay with Hui-cheol, but we all know where her heart really is.(Right?? RIGHT??)

Back home, Dong-ju executes his final move against Jang-seon.

After making Jang-seon believe he’s returning the full 39 billion won, Dong-ju locks him out of the account. BOOM. Just like that, Jang-seon is ruined.

But before we can even breathe, Dong-ju calls Eun-nam and tells her:

“I’ll be waiting for you.” (cue the romantic angst! 😭)

Dong-ju heads to the sea, waiting for Eun-nam like the tragic romantic lead he is.

🏀 He plays basketball with a kid while waiting. (Pain.)
👀 Eun-nam watches him from a distance but doesn’t approach. (More pain.)
📞 When he calls her, she says she’s not coming. (Ultimate pain.)

But just when we think she might change her mind, Cheon Gu-ho’s men show up, force her into a cab, and drive her away.

😭💔 DONG-JU DOESN’T EVEN KNOW.

Instead, he gets back on his boat, puts on a wedding suit (SIR, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO US?!), and records a violin performance for Eun-nam.

🎻💔💀 THE MAN IS LITERALLY PLAYING VIOLIN IN A WEDDING SUIT WHILE HIS HEART SHATTERS.

And then…

🚤 ANOTHER BOAT ARRIVES. AND THEY START SHOOTING.

WHO IS THE SHOOTER??

None other than Huh Il-do. 🤯

Dong-ju tries to swim away, but Il-do SHOOTS HIM.

Jang-seon celebrates like a true villain, praising Il-do for getting rid of Dong-ju. But they never find his body. (Rookie mistake, people!)

Meanwhile, a random fisherman finds Dong-ju’s “lifeless” body on a raft… and STEALS HIS WATCH. (Why does this keep happening?!)

But just when we’re about to have an emotional breakdown, guess who sits up, very much ALIVE?

💀 DONG-JU.

Y’ALL THOUGHT YOU COULD KILL HIM?! THINK AGAIN!

Meanwhile, Il-do realizes he’s been played. Jang-seon now has blackmail on him, and if he can’t access Chairman Cha’s money, they’ll have to sell Daesan Energy (which would be a major power shift!).

Meanwhile, at the Cha mansion, we find out that Chairman Cha was the one who forced Eun-nam to come back. (Of course he did.)

And then, in the final, bone-chilling scene:

🔐 Il-do sneaks into Chairman Cha’s office and steals the book with the safe code.
⏳ He tries the code… but it’s WRONG.
😂 He starts laughing hysterically.
🙏 And then PRAYS for Dong-ju to come back to life.

WELL, GUESS WHAT?!

💀 DONG-JU JUST OPENED HIS EYES.

Lost Memories, Hidden Identities, and a Heartbreaking Twist

Hey Buried Hearts fans! 🌊💔 Just when we thought the drama couldn’t get more intense, Episode 4 gives us amnesia, secret identities, a near-drowning, and the most gut-wrenching final scene yet! Strap in—this episode took us everywhere!

We pick up right where we left off—Dong-ju wakes up in a stranger’s house, trapped in a nightmare. But before he can figure out where he is, his rescuer (a fisherman) injects him with something. (Uhh… EXCUSE ME?!)

Meanwhile, back at the Cha household, the drama is simmering. Secretary Gong totally caught Il-do snooping around Chairman Cha’s office, meaning someone is about to get exposed. But instead of getting caught, Il-do somehow convinces the chairman to let him take money from the inner safe to keep Yeom Jang-seon happy. (Yeah, because bribery always works long-term, right? 🙃)

While working out, Il-do suddenly hallucinates that he sees Dong-ju on the mansion grounds. The guilt is eating him alive! And things only get messier when Deok-hui drops a bomb:

👉 Yeom Jang-seon caught Eun-nam trying to leave with Dong-ju.

🚨 CODE RED. 🚨

Dong-ju, still weak and confused, wakes up bandaged. His rescuer introduces himself as Bae Won-bae, aka Jang Il-nam(new mysterious character alert! 🚨).

But here’s the real shocker:

Dong-ju introduces himself as Seong Hyeon. 🤯

Wait. WHAT?! Does he not remember who he really is?!

Il-nam takes him to the shore where he was found, and flashbacks start creeping in. There’s a car accident, a cliff, and a mystery pair of shoes walking toward him…

What actually happened to him?!

Back at Daesan, things are heating up. Cha Guk-hui (Chairman Cha’s daughter) sneaks into his office and—BAM!—finds the safe codes hidden in a pen stand. (She’s got her own game going on!)

The next morning, Il-do realizes the safe code isn’t working. Chairman Cha is furious and realizes…

The only person who has the new code? DONG-JU.

Well, that’s a problem, considering everyone thinks he’s dead.

Meanwhile, Il-do brings Jang-seon some hush money, but Jang-seon isn’t buying it. He knows it’s not from the chairman’s safe and threatens to "turn Daesan upside down.” (That’s corporate war talk for BIG trouble ahead.)

Just as Eun-nam is begging her grandfather not to strip her of her Daesan shares, Dong-ju calls her. (Bad timing, my dude. 😬)

But guess who picks up the phone instead?

Hui-cheol. 😡

He instantly recognizes Dong-ju’s voice (how romantic… if it wasn’t so aggressive). He goes full rage mode, yelling at Dong-ju and leaving him completely confused.

And just when we thought things couldn’t get weirder, Secretary Gong overhears everything—and when she hears the name Seong Hyeon, she freezes. (Does she know something?!)

At the end of this brutal confrontation, Eun-nam makes her decision—she agrees to go home with Hui-cheol.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is onto something—they realize Dong-ju rented a yacht… but never returned it.

And just like that, Il-do is on the hunt.

At the same time, Il-nam & Dong-ju search for proof of Dong-ju’s "car accident," but nothing adds up. If Dong-ju wasn’t in an accident, then what actually happened to him?

And then comes the next twist:

They get Dong-ju’s phone repaired.

Deok-hui (ever the meddler) hands Eun-nam’s phone to Il-do and tells him to handle Dong-ju. Il-do makes the call, expecting to hear nothing but silence…

But instead, Dong-ju picks up.

And without hesitation, he accuses Il-do of trying to kill him.

🎤 DROP.

The phone suddenly shuts off (because of course it does! 😭), leaving Il-do in absolute shock.

Now, with proof that Dong-ju is alive, Jang-seon sees an opportunity to get his stolen funds back. He immediately orders a retrieval squad (aka, a helicopter full of men with bad intentions) to find him.

As Dong-ju desperately searches for memories, Il-nam stumbles upon Dong-ju’s abandoned yacht.

But guess who else finds it?

🚁 Il-do and his goons, flying in on a helicopter! 🚁

Il-do jumps into the water (???) to get Dong-ju’s attention, and Dong-ju—because he’s a good person, dammit—jumps in after him to save him.

🚑 Il-do ends up in the hospital, and Dong-ju gets a raging fever. (Seriously, can this man catch a break?!)

Meanwhile, Jang-seon is literally preparing a torture chamber for Dong-ju. (SIR, WHAT?!?)

As Gu-ho & his men close in, Il-nam gets a warning from the phone repair guy (hero of the episode!). They barely escape in time.

And just when we thought we had enough twists for the day…

👀 Il-nam… REMOVES HIS BEARD.

WAIT.

👀 IS HE SOMEONE ELSE?!

WHO ACTUALLY IS THIS MAN?!

In the city, Eun-nam and Hui-cheol are at a suit shop (oh, so now we’re just shopping like nothing happened?!).

And then—the moment that ruined us all.

🥀 They see Dong-ju.

But something is… wrong.

Dong-ju, standing at the counter, is asking the salesperson about his own suit. He doesn’t remember where it came from.

Eun-nam, heart pounding, calls out his name.

He looks at her…

😨 And doesn’t recognize her. 😨

💀💀💀

END SCENE.

DramaZen's Opinion

Opinion of Buried Hearts (2025)

The Drama Just Went OFF! 🔥

If I thought Buried Hearts couldn’t get any crazier, Episodes 3 & 4 proved me completely wrong. This show is serving high-stakes action, shocking betrayals, and heartbreak on a level I was NOT emotionally prepared for.

First off, Dong-ju getting shot and left for dead—only to come back with AMNESIA?! Absolute genius of a plot twist. And then we have Il-do, who went from sneaky villain to literal drowning victim that Dong-ju still saved. (Why does he have a good heart? WHY?!) Meanwhile, Eun-nam is trapped in a power struggle, and just when she tries to break free, she’s forced to make the most heart-wrenching choice ever—Daesan or Dong-ju.

AND THEN. THE FINAL SCENE. Dong-ju sees Eun-nam… and doesn’t recognize her.

I FELT THAT IN MY SOUL. 💔

Also, let’s not ignore the fact that Il-nam’s fake beard reveal shook me to my core. Who is this man?! Why is Secretary Gong acting suspicious about Dong-ju’s past?! And what kind of twisted revenge plot is Jang-seon cooking up next?!

I’m officially addicted, stressed, and counting down the seconds until Episode 5. Send help. 😭
