Buried Hearts- Episodes 5-6
Lost Memories, Deadly Secrets, and a Torture Chamber?!
Hey Buried Hearts fans! 🎭💥 If you thought last week’s amnesia twist was intense, Episode 5 just took things to a whole new level. From shocking family secrets to Chairman Cha chasing Dong-ju through the streets (yes, really!)—this episode had chaos, suspense, and a gut-wrenching final scene that left us all screaming. Let’s break it down!
The episode kicks off with Hui-cheol and Eun-nam coming face-to-face with Dong-ju at the suit shop. And just like that, our worst fear is confirmed—he truly doesn’t remember who he is. 😭💔
Eun-nam, heartbroken but determined, hands him a phone and promises to call. (I’m already sobbing.) But before we can have a soft moment, Hui-cheol, being the absolute worst, secretly sends Dong-ju’s location to Gu-ho.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the chaotic world of Daesan, Chairman Cha gets some bad news—his doctors reveal he has a degenerative brain condition. (👀 A powerful man slowly losing his grip on reality? This is going to get messy.)
Back at the suit shop, Gu-ho and his men track Dong-ju down… only to LOSE him again (rookie mistake). Meanwhile, Dong-ju unknowingly crosses paths with Chairman Cha at a restaurant, but neither of them realizes the significance—until the restaurant owner spills the tea.
Cue: Chairman Cha BOLTING OUT of the restaurant like a man on a mission. 🚀 (Who knew the old man could move that fast?!)
As Dong-ju wanders the city, Eun-nam calls him and tells him the truth—his real name is Seo Dong-ju, and he was once her fiancé. 💍💔
Dong-ju is shaken, but he remembers something the suit shop saleswoman told him:
👉 Before losing his memory, he was planning a trip with his bride.
👉 That bride was probably… Eun-nam.
👉 He had also asked for a different exit, as if he was being careful.
(Oof. Past Dong-ju knew something shady was going on!)
Meanwhile, Gu-ho finally catches up to him in a park—BUT WAIT! 🚨
🚗 Chairman Cha arrives out of nowhere again! 🚗
The moment he sees Dong-ju, he’s stunned to realize that Dong-ju has NO idea who he is. (Sweet karma!) But before they can have a moment, Dong-ju spots Gu-ho and his suspicious goons and TAKES OFF.
We get a heartbreaking flashback of a younger Eun-nam, attempting suicide. 😭
Why? Because she believed that Deok-hui had Il-do KILL her father, Sun-ho. (My jaw was on the floor.)
Deok-hui denied it, but Eun-nam accused her of sending her to the U.S. to “erase” her memories. (THE BETRAYAL?!)
In the present, Eun-nam invites Dong-ju to the Cha mansion (because what could possibly go wrong?).
And then… 💥 THE MOMENT OF PURE CHAOS. 💥
🗣️ Dong-ju walks in, looks at everyone, and introduces himself as SEONG HYEON.
🎂 Secretary Gong, holding Hui-cheol’s birthday cake, literally DROPS IT ON THE FLOOR. (Iconic.)
At this point, everyone is SHOOK.
Even Chairman Cha is rattled, and he immediately drags Dong-ju into his office. Dong-ju, meanwhile, hands Eun-nam her phone back, seemingly unaware of how much pain that causes her. (The longing stares… I can’t! 😭)
Inside Cha’s office, Dong-ju admits that some memories are coming back—but they’re still fragmented. Chairman Cha orders him to be hospitalized IMMEDIATELY. (Okay, that’s suspicious.)
While Dong-ju gets checked into the hospital, Yeom Jang-seon randomly shows up in his room. (CREEP ALERT!) Dong-ju is immediately wary of him (as he should be!), but before anything can happen…
🚑 Dr. Kang swoops in and KICKS JANG-SEON OUT. 🚑 (Protect this doctor at all costs!)
However, the real shocker comes later that night—
😱 Gu-ho and Jang-seon PLANTED A BUG in Dong-ju’s hospital room.
😱 Now, they can HEAR EVERYTHING.
(No one is safe in this drama, huh?!)
Meanwhile, Eun-nam goes on a mission of her own and visits Sister Agnes.
🚨 NEW MYSTERY ALERT: 🚨
🕵️♀️ Sister Agnes reveals that Dong-ju lost his memory once before… as a child.
🕵️♀️ She also recognizes the name Seong Hyeon.
🕵️♀️ Eun-nam wonders if seeing Sister Agnes will help trigger his memories.
(Hold up—IS SEO DONG-JU NOT WHO WE THINK HE IS?!?)
As if things weren’t already spiraling…
Dong-ju gets taken for a “routine test” at the hospital—but SURPRISE! It’s actually one of Gu-ho’s men. 😨
Before Dong-ju even realizes what’s happening, he’s DRUGGED and smuggled out of the hospital. 🚨
(Where is Dr. Kang when you need him?!)
Next thing we know…
🚨 DONG-JU IS IN JANG-SEON’S TORTURE CHAMBER. 🚨
(YES. A LITERAL TORTURE CHAMBER.)
Gu-ho and his men waterboard him (OH MY GOD?!), while Jang-seon taunts him, insisting that he’s faking his memory loss.
😱 THE EPISODE ENDS WITH DONG-JU STRUGGLING TO BREATHE. 😱
Amnesia, Hypnosis, and the SHOCKING Finale We Never Saw Coming
Hey Buried Hearts fans! 🎭🔥 Just when we thought this show couldn’t get more intense, Episode 6 throws in torture, hidden identities, shady mind games, and a twist ending that had us SCREAMING at our screens. Buckle up—this recap is going to be a wild ride!
We pick up right where we left off—Dong-ju, beaten and waterboarded in Jang-seon’s torture chamber. 😭 The guy is barely holding on, and back at the hospital, everyone is freaking out.
🏥 Eun-nam, Il-do, and Do-su (Chairman Cha’s doctor/son-in-law) realize Dong-ju is missing. But instead of calling the cops (because that would make too much sense!), they decide to keep it from Chairman Cha. Wouldn’t want to stress him out too much! 🙃
Meanwhile, over at Jang-seon’s evil lair, one of his men realizes Dong-ju might actually NOT be faking his memory loss. (Well, duh! 😒)
But before they can act on it… Dong-ju goes FULL ACTION HERO.
💥 BAM! He stops playing weak, unties himself, and takes down his captors. (John Wick, is that you?!)
Just as one of Jang-seon’s men tries to knock him out again…
🚨 Il-do suddenly appears and SAVES HIM. 🚨 (Plot twist?!)
Dong-ju, still recovering, demands to see Chairman Cha. Il-do agrees, but when they arrive at the mansion, Jang-seon is already there, acting like the hero. (Gaslighting level: 1000!)
Chairman Cha is furious and suggests calling the police, but Il-do drops a bombshell—he saw a gunshot wound on Dong-ju’s body.
😱 EXCEPT… what Il-do doesn’t know is that Dong-ju REMEMBERS Il-do was the one who shot him!
But instead of exposing him (yet), Dong-ju plays along and says he doesn’t want law enforcement involved.
👏 A master manipulator move! Our boy is plotting something. 👏
Chairman Cha then makes a huge power move—he INSISTS Dong-ju stays at the mansion. (Because why not trap him in the lion’s den?!)
Il-do and Jang-seon meet privately, and Il-do—being the greedy snake he is—uses Dong-ju’s memory loss as leverage.
💸 If Chairman Cha finds out that Dong-ju is the key to the slush fund password, Jang-seon could lose everything.
So what does Il-do do?
💰 He demands 10% of Jang-seon’s TWO TRILLION WON.
(Bruh, the audacity!)
Jang-seon agrees… but only if Il-do gets the password first.
(We all know this deal won’t end well!)
Meanwhile, Dong-ju gets some unexpected insight into his past.
🕵️♀️ Sister Agnes confirms that Dong-ju’s childhood name was SEONG-HYEON! (Wait… does that mean he was adopted? Or something way worse?! 😱)
Back at the Cha household, Dong-ju notices Secretary Gong acting SUSPICIOUS when he mentions his recurring nightmare about a car accident. (She knows something!)
Later that night, Dong-ju wakes up suddenly. He heads to the pull-up bar (Il-do’s usual workout spot), and—right on cue—Il-do walks in.
Dong-ju, being ballsy as ever, straight-up asks Il-do if he shot him.
😳 Il-do barely keeps it together and denies it. (LIAR!)
Then—THE MOST UNHINGED MOVE EVER—
Il-do follows Dong-ju to his room… carrying a massive DUMBBELL.
🥶 IS HE REALLY ABOUT TO KILL HIM?!
BUT WAIT—Deok-hui walks in with his morning herbal tonic. (Talk about perfect timing!)
Il-do immediately switches gears (aka, drops his murder weapon) and tells Dong-ju he has a way to help him get his memory back…
Hypnotherapy.
(Yeah, because when someone tries to kill you, the next logical step is to let them mess with your subconscious!)
Il-do takes Dong-ju to Dr. Kang I-hyeon, a specialist in memory retrieval. (And conveniently, the daughter of Il-do’s friend.)
During the session, Dong-ju has a breakthrough memory:
🚗 He’s in a car.
👨 A man is driving.
👧 A little girl is in the back seat.
(WHO are these people?!? Is Dong-ju remembering a real accident?!)
Meanwhile, Jang-seon is plotting again.
He pretends he still has control over the national patriotic fund (he doesn’t) and casually lies to a politician’s face. (This man is the definition of shady!)
Then he gets a call from Il-do—Dong-ju’s memories are coming back.
So what does Jang-seon do?
💀 He calls Eun-nam and asks to meet her.
(Something bad is coming, I can feel it!)
After his therapy session, Dr. I-hyeon casually asks Dong-ju if he’d like to meet his sister. (Wait, WHAT?! He has a sister?!?)
Meanwhile, Eun-nam picks him up, and on the drive, Dong-ju notices their MATCHING TATTOOS. (Cue the heartbreak! 😭)
Then, they reach their destination…
And Sister Agnes walks across the street to greet them.
🚨 And then… 🚨
🚛💥 A TRUCK COMES OUT OF NOWHERE AND SLAMS INTO HER. 💀💀💀
😱😱😱
SHOCK. HORROR. TOTAL CHAOS.
And just like that—
🔥🔥🔥 DONG-JU’S ENTIRE MEMORY COMES RUSHING BACK. 🔥🔥🔥
(Talk about the most traumatic way to recover from amnesia!)
And guess what?
Jang-seon PLANNED IT.
🎭 This man literally STAGED A TRAGEDY just to SHOCK DONG-JU BACK INTO HIS MEMORIES?!
💀💀💀 SOMEONE. PLEASE. STOP. HIM.
DramaZen's Opinion
Chaos, Betrayals, and the Truck of Doom?! 🔥
I thought I was emotionally prepared for this show, but Episodes 5 & 6 just wrecked me. 😭
First, Dong-ju escaping torture like a total badass, only for Il-do to swoop in and fake-save him?! The nerve of this man! And the fact that Dong-ju remembers Il-do shot him but is playing along? PURE CINEMA.
Then we get hypnotherapy, suspicious dreams, secret tattoos, and the bombshell that Dong-ju was once called Seong-Hyeon. WHO EVEN IS HE, REALLY?! 🤯 And don’t even get me started on Jang-seon being the actual devil—this man STAGED A TRUCK ACCIDENT just to force Dong-ju’s memories back.
AND IT WORKED. 🔥
THE MEMORY FLASHBACK. THE INTENSITY. THE TRAUMA. I was screaming at my screen. This show just keeps raising the stakes, and I have zero idea what’s coming next, but I need it now.
⭐ 10/10 Buried Hearts is ruining me and I love it. 😻
