Hey Guardians of the Dafeng fans! If you thought things couldn’t get any funnier or more dramatic, Episodes 13 and 14 delivers big on both fronts. From Lin An’s hilariously failed schemes to a high-stakes duel between Golden Gongs, Xu Qi’an finds himself at the center of attention once again. Let’s break it all down!

Our favorite Second Princess, Lin An, is at it again—this time attempting to smear the reputation of the Eldest Princess in Xu Qi’an’s eyes. Her brilliant plan? Planting gossip about Huai Qing’s alleged bad character, questionable morals, and terrible medical skills. Unfortunately for Lin An, Xu Qi’an’s sharp instincts kick in immediately, and he apprehends the gossiping "bystanders" for questioning.

Despite her failed efforts, Lin An finds some solace in the fact that Xu Qi’an remains clueless about her involvement. Meanwhile, Xu Qi’an makes it clear to everyone (and by everyone, I mean literally everyone) that his loyalty to the Eldest Princess is unshakable, much to Lin An’s frustration. The way Xu Qi’an’s devotion borders on comedic obsession never fails to crack me up.

If you thought bureaucracy was boring, think again! With Xu Qi’an’s growing reputation, powerful figures are scrambling to claim him as their own. Jiang Lüzhong is eager to poach him from Spring Breeze Hall, but Li Yuchun isn’t willing to let him go without a fight. Enter Yang Yan, who joins the fray, resulting in an epic showdown between two Golden Gongs.

The duel between Jiang Lüzhong and Yang Yan is nothing short of spectacular, with Copper Gongs and bystanders watching in awe. Of course, Xu Qi’an stumbles onto the scene mid-watermelon snack, only to realize that these two top-tier masters are literally fighting over him. His reaction? Pure smug satisfaction—because who wouldn’t enjoy such attention?

When Wei Yuan finally steps in to make the call, Xu Qi’an wisely lets him decide his fate to avoid offending either party. And, in classic Xu Qi’an style, he even presents a poem as part of his “strategic sincerity.” However, the real shock comes when Wei Yuan assigns him to remain under Li Yuchun’s command for the next three years, dashing all of Xu Qi’an’s dreams of escaping Spring Breeze Hall.

The look on Xu Qi’an’s face when he realizes he’s stuck? Priceless. His desperate attempts to charm his way out of it fail miserably, and his newfound confidence takes a hilarious nosedive. As usual, Wei Yuan proves he knows how to handle Xu Qi’an’s unpredictable nature, pairing him with the strict, rule-abiding Li Yuchun to keep him in check.

Opinion of Guardians of the Dafeng (2024)

Episodes 13 and 14 delivered an amazing mix of humor, intrigue, and action that had me hooked from start to finish. Lin An's failed attempts to tarnish the Eldest Princess's reputation were absolutely hilarious—Xu Qi’an’s unwavering loyalty and quick thinking completely foiled her plans, proving once again why he’s such a fun protagonist to watch.

The showdown between Jiang Lüzhong and Yang Yan over Xu Qi’an was epic, and watching our favorite constable realize he was the subject of a turf war (all while eating watermelon) was pure comedy gold. But Wei Yuan's final decision to keep him under Li Yuchun's command for three years was the perfect reality check—poor Xu Qi’an just can’t catch a break!

Episode 14 took a more serious turn with the Sangbo Lake incident, blending suspense and supernatural elements beautifully. The mysterious cries for help, the chaos at the ceremony, and Xu Qi’an's heroic save for Lin An added a touch of excitement and romance to the mix. Plus, the growing tension surrounding Sangbo Lake's secrets hints at something much bigger on the horizon.

Overall, these episodes had it all—laughs, action, and intrigue. Xu Qi’an’s journey continues to be as unpredictable as ever, and I can’t wait to see how he navigates his latest predicament.
