The Best Day of My Life- Episodes 3-4
The moment Jiang Zhou stepped through the door, Xu Mu, visibly tipsy, stumbled toward him, her vision hazy. "Why are there two Director Jiangs?" she slurred, blinking in confusion. Amused, Jiang Zhou knew exactly what was going on—she was drunk. When she asked which one she should hug, he smiled and replied, “This one,” pulling her into a hug.
When it was Jiang Zhou’s turn for Truth or Dare, Zhao Yusi boldly asked if he liked anyone. His gaze shifted to the drunken Xu Mu, and with a subtle smile, he answered, “Yes, I do.”
The next morning, Xu Mu woke up in a large hotel bed, the memories of the previous night hazy. She vaguely recalled venting about her roommate to Zhao Yusi, but the details blurred. Suddenly, Xie Shi appeared, and she froze. "Did I forget everything?" she asked nervously, her mind racing. Xie Shi, handing her a fresh set of clothes, simply replied that he'd take her home.
Embarrassed, Xu Mu couldn't stop thinking about what she might have done. “Did I change into these clothes myself?” she hesitated, hoping she didn’t embarrass herself further. Xie Shi's answer? A calm "No."
As they drove, flashes of last night returned—Xu Mu drunkenly tugging at Xie Shi's tie, complimenting his looks, and snapping a photo together. Horrified, she checked her phone, only to discover she had posted the photo on social media! Her friends flooded the comments, teasing her for keeping such secrets.
Back home, she called Song Niannian, who jokingly suggested Xu Mu start handing out wedding candies. “Stop it!” Xu Mu groaned, but Song Niannian only laughed, saying things weren’t looking so bad.
The next day at work, Xu Mu’s embarrassment only worsened. Team Leader Liao praised her for keeping secrets, and just as she was about to explain herself, Jiang Zhou entered the room. The tension grew unbearable as she was asked to sit next to him to present her work. The moment the meeting ended, Xu Mu bolted, but Jiang Zhou called after her. Flustered, she told him that maybe they should avoid each other for a while after her drunken mishap.
Feeling guilty, Xu Mu suggested buying him a coffee to make amends. But as she waited in line at the café, her past came crashing back—her ex-boyfriend appeared out of nowhere, inviting her to a gathering. He mocked her, saying his current girlfriend was far better than her in every way. Determined to prove him wrong, Xu Mu boldly declared she would attend, just as Jiang Zhou approached.
Her ex, immediately recognizing Jiang Zhou as her new boyfriend, smugly extended an invitation to both the gathering and his wedding. Once alone, Jiang Zhou proposed a plan: she could join him for dinner with his parents (who believed he was dating her thanks to Chen Xi), and in return, he’d accompany her to the gathering. A mutual favor, perfectly timed.
Meanwhile, Shen Yi was dealing with his own dilemma. His boss had assigned him to work with Song Jinxin, the editor-in-chief of Limited Time Love—who just so happened to be none other than his high school classmate, Song Niannian. Reluctant but left with no choice, he grudgingly agreed for the sake of his bank account.
Later, Xu Mu and Song Niannian found themselves at One Week Café, co-owned by Jiang Zhou and Shen Yi. When Shen Yi spotted them, he quickly summoned Jiang Zhou, warning him that Song Niannian was already badmouthing him. Despite the tension, Song Niannian signed a contract with Shen Yi's company, leaving Shen Yi repeatedly checking to confirm her agreement, unsure if this unlikely partnership would run smoothly.
Later that day, Xu Mu makes a bold decision to attend her ex-boyfriend’s engagement party—alone. With Xie Shi running late, she faces her ex and his fiancée, who waste no time in throwing demeaning remarks her way, trying to undermine her confidence. But Xu Mu stands her ground, refusing to let their taunts rattle her. Just as the tension thickens, Xie Shi strides in, perfectly timed to save the day. The room shifts as the ex’s fiancée, shocked to see the powerful Director Jiang, suddenly realizes he’s there for Xu Mu—and the smugness quickly fades from her face. With one look, Xie Shi puts them in their place, turning the tables in a moment of sweet victory for Xu Mu.
In episode 4, things heat up as Xie Shi picks up a nervous Xu Mu for his family dinner. It’s her first time meeting anyone’s parents, and the stakes feel high. At the party, things get even more complicated when she runs into a guy she went on a blind date with. In a panic, Xu Mu fibs, claiming she’s been dating Xie Shi for over a year. As the evening unfolds, she surprises even herself by getting along perfectly with Xie Shi’s family, who are shocked to see their son smitten so quickly.
But just when everything seems to be going smoothly, Chen Xi throws a wrench into the evening. She casually mentions that Xu Mu went on a blind date just a month ago—right in front of Xie Shi’s family. Tension rises, but before the situation spirals out of control, Xie Shi steps in with a heartfelt confession. He admits the blind date happened because he hadn’t given Xu Mu the security she needed. However, spending time apart made them realize how deeply they cared for each other. He even confesses he fell for her the moment he saw her.
After escaping the party, Xie Shi and Xu Mu take a quiet stroll along the beach, where Xie Shi finally opens up about his personal life and complicated family history. But things take another unexpected turn when he overhears Xu Mu’s phone call with her mother, who’s pressuring her to go on more blind dates. Sensing a shared frustration, Xie Shi makes a bold suggestion: a fake relationship contract. They could avoid family pressures while pretending to be together, and the contract would end the moment either of them falls for someone else. Xu Mu, caught up in the moment, agrees.
The next day, Xie Shi takes things up a notch by video calling Xu Mu’s mother, charming her instantly. Her mom is thrilled with him. After a long day at work, Xie Shi drives Xu Mu home, only for her to walk into a heated argument with her rude roommate. The roommate had let her drunk friends trash Xu Mu’s room, and the confrontation escalates when Xu Mu’s mom arrives for a surprise visit. The roommate’s behavior turns aggressive, even pushing Xu Mu’s mother during the argument. Hearing the chaos over the phone, Xie Shi rushes to the apartment just in time to catch Mrs. Xu before she falls, saving her from a serious injury.
Grateful and impressed, Mrs. Xu can’t stop gushing about Xie Shi, insisting he’s exactly who she wants for her daughter. Xu Mu, overwhelmed by the drama, is further surprised when Xie Shi suggests she move in with him—no rent required. Though suspicious of his generosity, Xu Mu agrees, knowing she needs a place to stay. Meanwhile, rumors of their "relationship" start spreading around the office, blurring the lines between their fake contract and real feelings.
With secrets, lies, and growing emotions, Xie Shi and Xu Mu’s lives are about to get even more complicated.
DramaZen's Opinion
I can't get over how the male lead looks at the female lead—he’s completely ready to dive into the relationship, and she’s still blissfully clueless about his feelings!
It’s hilarious how they’ve packed in every possible cliché, and honestly, I’m shamelessly loving every second of it. 😂
As for Song Niannian, ugh, she’s the type of character that always gets under my skin. It’s probably just a personal pet peeve, but I find her so annoying!
Seriously, why are some women so oblivious? It’s crystal clear that Xie Shi only has eyes for Xu Mu! How can they not see it?
And don’t even get me started on the scumbag ex and his fiancée—they’re beyond disgusting. That woman flat-out cheated and stole the ex while he was still with Xu Mu, yet they stand there so smug, like they’ve done nothing wrong. What’s even crazier is that all their friends, who went to school with them, are actually supporting the cheaters. It’s mind-boggling! How can they just ignore what happened? So confusing!
