Smile Code- Episodes 29-30
Episode 29 Recap: Drama, Determination, and Heartfelt Confessions!
This week’s episodes of Smile Code were a rollercoaster of emotions, packed with bold decisions, unexpected twists, and some seriously swoon-worthy moments. Let’s dive into the chaos, shall we?
Gu Yi's Big Media Gamble
Gu Yi is out here making power moves! She proposed a bold plan to use physical paper media to share knowledge and connect with readers. Zhang Junjie wasn’t sold at first—pointing out the challenges of limited reach—but our girl Gu Yi came prepared. She laid out her competitors’ strategies and worked her way to an agreement, even striking a bargain that left Zhang Junjie treating her like the little sister he secretly adores.
Liang Daiwen’s Passion, Interrupted
Meanwhile, at Liang Daiwen’s new product launch, things started off strong with his passionate speech stealing the spotlight. But, of course, the drama was bubbling under the surface. Gu Yi couldn’t help but notice Mr. Huang’s shady behavior with Guan Xingxin—spouting manipulative nonsense that made her jump in to call him out. Mr. Huang then turned his attention to stirring the pot with Zhang Junjie, who couldn’t care less about his ex-husband’s childish antics. Classic chaos.
When the press conference almost derailed, Gu Yi swooped in to save the day like the queen she is. Later, Liang Daiwen’s adorable apology on camera (complete with puppy eyes!) melted Gu Yi’s heart—and ours. 💕
Guan Xingxin and Yu Dule’s Tension
Poor Guan Xingxin is stuck in the middle of family pressures and a career crossroads. She’s determined to gain independence through her variety show, but her struggles are taking a toll on her relationship with Yu Dule. He’s been working overtime to give her a better future, only to stumble upon a video of her recording the show—sending his emotions into overdrive. Misunderstandings are brewing, and we’re all holding our breath for a resolution.
Xu Guanrui’s Final Confession
In a bittersweet twist, Xu Guanrui gracefully congratulated Gu Yi on her relationship with Liang Daiwen, even inviting her to his music party. But the stage turned into his emotional outlet as he sang a heartfelt confession of his unrequited love for Gu Yi. She quietly snapped a photo of the moment, marking the end of their chapter with bittersweet warmth. 🥲
Gu Yi’s Mother Breaks Our Hearts
Gu Yi’s world came crashing down as her mother’s health took a turn for the worse. The poignant voice call between mother and daughter was an absolute tearjerker, with Gu Yi holding back sobs only to cry her heart out after hanging up. Watching her confide her pain to Liang Daiwen through the surveillance camera added another layer of heartache.
But leave it to Liang Daiwen to turn things around. His quiet act of hiring a locksmith for Gu Yi brought her running to him, desperate for comfort. His subtle, thoughtful gestures continue to remind us why we root for this couple.
Drama Brewing for Guan Xingxin and Yu Dule
Yu Dule is starting to suspect that Guan Xingxin is hiding something, and tension is building fast. Gu Yi stepped in as the voice of reason, suggesting that Yu Dule talk things out instead of letting misunderstandings fester. Fingers crossed they figure it out because the angst is getting too real.
Episode 30 Recap: Heartbreak, Healing, and a Touch of Jealousy
This week’s Smile Code served up a cocktail of emotional breakthroughs, bittersweet moments, and a sprinkle of pettiness that kept us hooked from start to finish. Let’s dive in!
Gu Yi Stirs the Pot
Gu Yi, ever the playful troublemaker, burst into Liang Daiwen's meeting with Mr. Zhang, cheekily calling him "dear" to make the woman opposite him jealous. Classic Gu Yi! But Mr. Zhang wasn’t having it—he shot back that Liang Daiwen’s life had become harder thanks to Gu Yi’s influence, making her secretly feel a little guilty.
Of course, Gu Yi, not one to back down, declared that Liang Daiwen was hers now and had nothing to do with Mr. Zhang. Boom. Mic drop. Later, in the car, Gu Yi couldn’t resist joking about earning money from Mr. Zhang, much to Yu Dole’s annoyance as he endured yet another serving of “couple dog food.” Poor Yu Dole—third-wheeling isn’t for the faint of heart.
Heartbreaking Farewell to Gu Yi’s Mother
The mood took a somber turn when Gu Yi’s uncle arrived with her mother’s ashes. Her mother’s selflessness—choosing to quietly leave to reduce Gu Yi’s burden—hit everyone hard. Gu Yi broke down reading her mother’s final texts, which had been secretly sent after blocking her daughter to hide her worsening condition.
The goodbye was gut-wrenching. Gu Yi hugged the ashes tightly, pleading for her mother to come back, only to release her into the sea, honoring her mother’s wish to live freely in another world. Cue the tears. 😭
Guan Xingxin’s Struggles and Yu Dole’s Defensiveness
Meanwhile, Guan Xingxin dove headfirst into work, hoping to escape her family’s control. Recording her romance show came with its own awkwardness—she hated being touched by male guests but powered through. Yu Dole, on the other hand, wasn’t having it. Editing her videos, he grew protective when a colleague made inappropriate remarks, telling them to “accumulate some virtue.” Go, Yu Dole!
Gu Yi Quits, Liang Daiwen Supports
Overwhelmed by grief, Gu Yi decided to resign, leaving her boss, Zhang Junjie, both worried and understanding. He ensured Gu Yi’s workload would be covered while giving her space to decide her future. Liang Daiwen, ever the support system, took Gu Yi back to his home to help her heal.
There, Liang Daiwen’s father shared warm stories about his late wife, lightening the atmosphere and giving Gu Yi a sense of home again. The pair’s bond deepened as they reminisced about childhood memories and spoke of their mothers’ enduring love. Gu Yi even recorded a video for Liang Daiwen’s mother’s tombstone, hoping their mothers could “meet” in another world.
Facing Nightmares, Embracing Love
In a powerful moment, Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen visited the corridor where his mother had died—a place that haunted Liang Daiwen’s dreams. With Gu Yi by his side, he began to let go of the pain and embrace the love surrounding him. Her words reminded him that life, though full of loss, is also filled with people who care deeply.
The episode wrapped up on a hopeful note, with Liang Daiwen finally starting to heal and Gu Yi proving that love and understanding can work wonders—even in the darkest moments.
DramaZen's Opinion
The Emotional Rollercoaster We Didn't Know We Needed!
These last two episodes of Smile Code hit us with all the feels—heartbreak, healing, jealousy, and those swoon-worthy moments we live for as fans. Let’s just say, if I wasn’t already hooked on this show, these episodes would’ve sealed the deal!
Gu Yi’s Emotional Depth
Gu Yi has truly evolved as a character. Watching her navigate the loss of her mother was absolutely devastating yet inspiring. Her pain was so raw and relatable—when she held her mother’s ashes and broke down, I was sobbing right along with her. But the way she managed to honor her mother’s memory by releasing her ashes into the sea? Absolutely beautiful.
And her dedication to Liang Daiwen, even through her own grief, is chef’s kiss. She’s a fighter, whether it’s for her family, love, or even herself.
Liang Daiwen’s Growth
Liang Daiwen has come such a long way emotionally. Seeing him confront his father about the past was so cathartic! That moment when he finally called him “Dad” had me melting. And the way he stood by Gu Yi during her darkest moments shows just how much he’s grown into a loving, reliable partner. Plus, let’s not forget how adorable he was with Gu Yi’s mother. When he tried to support Gu Yi through her grief and even faced his own trauma? My heart couldn’t handle it.
And that little confession at the end? 😍 Liang Daiwen, sir, you’ve earned your spot as one of the best male leads.
Guan Xingxin and Yu Dole’s Drama
The tension between Guan Xingxin and Yu Dole was heartbreaking yet so relatable. Guan Xingxin’s struggle with family expectations is something so many of us can understand. And Yu Dole? He’s trying so hard to support her, but their miscommunication is killing me! Can someone please lock these two in a room and make them talk it out?
That being said, watching Yu Dole defend Guan Xingxin at work was the chef’s kiss protective boyfriend energy we love to see.
Standout Moments
- Gu Yi honoring her mother: The sea burial scene left me in a puddle of tears.
- Liang Daiwen facing his childhood trauma: Healing isn’t linear, but Liang Daiwen is making the steps we’ve all been waiting for.
- The “Dear” moment: Gu Yi calling Liang Daiwen “dear” to make someone jealous? Iconic. Petty queen behavior that we live for.
- Yu Dole’s loyalty: His defense of Guan Xingxin at work? Perfection.
What’s Next?
I NEED Guan Xingxin and Yu Dole to figure things out before my heart breaks further. Also, what’s next for Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen? Are we finally getting that fairy tale ending, or will there be another twist? Either way, I’m so here for it.
These episodes reminded me why I love this show so much. The mix of heartache, humor, and growth keeps it real while giving us those dreamy moments that make us believe in love. Honestly, Smile Code continues to deliver week after week. Can’t wait for more! 💕
